switch to linux with me

so i decided that on january 1st of 2026 it would officially be time to start my switching-to-linux journey (which has been a long time coming, to be fair)

anyway it was an intimidating idea for me since i don't really consider myself "good at computers" but as i said, i finally got tired enough of waging a battle against the microsoft corporation every time i wanted to use my personal computer that i own... so i figured i might as well document the process from the perspective of someone like me, in case this helps someone who is also like me and hasn't made the leap yet.

i am starting with this guide which is called "30 days to using linux" or whatever but seems to be structured in such a way that i can be flexible with the timing if i wish

then i get to the actual instructions and it's literally less than 10 individual steps (and 2 of them are "restart your computer")
