truth be told, i canât delete this blog. tumblr was a huge part of my life back in 2010-2012, and even though looking at it now makes me want to vomit, i feel like i would regret it it i deleted it. and iâm tired of regretting decisions i make when i donât feel okay.
(a little update: i am currently in my third year of university, my migraines have gotten worse, and i am currently deep in the pits of hell.)
thanks for sticking with me during those fun times. i hope youâre doing well.
there was once this boy who I really liked talking to. whether it was about EDM, viral videos on YouTube, or stupid memes, I liked it when he talked about it. Iâd stay and listen even if he was talking about something I wasnât really interested in -- just to see the way his entire face lit up.Â
I liked him.
but time passed and a new semester came and we ran out of things to talk about. we grew distant.Â
I liked him. I might have even loved him. so I told him how I felt. he didnât feel the same way. I wasnât too surprised, but I was still a little devastated.Â
and then thereâs you, this boy who Iâve never actually had a simple, casual conversation with. I had two classes with you last semester, and you were the smart kid in your circle. very smart. Iâve always admired smart people. you werenât so bad-looking, too, so I admired you quietly, from a distance. I never really thought that I had a chance because you were a year older, and letâs be honest, I wasnât the prettiest girl around.
but then your friends started pointing me out whenever I walked past, and theyâre telling me that you like me, and itâs freaking me out. I donât want to believe them, because they seem like the kind of guys who would go messing around with people and making fun of them afterwards.Â
itâs freaking me out because I do like you, but I canât tell you like me back too, unless you tell me yourself. but youâre ridiculously shy and difficult to talk to and I spend way too much energy thinking about it in my spare time.
I would just ask you myself, but if I do and it turns out that this whole things was a giant prank, Iâd look like a fool, and I donât want to go through that again.
guess Iâll just have to wait and see.

we are double-crossed, star-crossed, fingers-crossed. we are euphoric, effulgent, crashing and crumbling. we are a new page in an old book. the gods have not been kind to us but we rise to meet the stars anyway.
BURNING THE MILLENIUMÂ | M.J. (via mythaelogy)
Long time no see, Tumblr.
Have a few photos from my very short trip to Hong Kong in December 2014. It had been over 3 years since I my last visit, but it's still as hectic as ever.
We'd hopped onto a double decker bus and sat in the front of the second floor (of course) and rode around for almost an hour before we realized that it wasn't going to take us to Victoria Peak -- nope, it took us in the opposite direction.
Great times. It ain't an adventure if you don't get lost, after all.
'cause baby I could build a castle out of all the bricks they threw at me and everyday is like a battle but every night with us is like a dream
Hey John, I've spent most of my young life devout and most of my college life firmly atheist, and now I'm in a place that seems like it maybe resembles yours (albeit Hindu) in that my official stance is still pretty much "god/s probably not literally real", but I'm less obstinate about walling out the habits, instincts and raptures of religiosity. (Including bona fide prayer now and again, aforementioned god/s help me). Any thoughts on walking through this weird place?
I feel like this question is âcan I still practice my faith even if I donât really buy it?â and I think the answer is âof course!â You donât have to apologize to yourself or anybody else if you like to pray, or attend services, or observe feasts/holidays/saintsâ days/etc. There is no requirement that you believe. Do you enjoy praying? Does it connect you to something â maybe something within, maybe something beyond, maybe to a community whether thatâs in real space or a broader community out there in the world? Then pray! Do you have a nagging feeling that your prayers ascend into an empty sky? Me too! Who cares! I pray every night and at many points throughout the day. Thereâs probably no God. It doesnât matter. It feels good to me to engage in acts of religious devotion, to talk to the G/gods Iâve carried in my heart. To give thanks. To confess to some Being, whether real or imagined but in private, my shortcomings, and to ask for strength. I connect to something essential in myself when I pray. Lifeâs long and the paths winds through all sorts of places. I think the only imperative is âbe present to the places youâre passing through.â There are plenty of reasons to be observant and itâs your life â no-one can tell how youâre supposed to feel when you pray. Thatâs between you and the object of your prayers, or between you an an incomprehensible void, depending.

#YesAllWomen Because my cousin shared 3 rape experiences she had And on all three occasions She was wearing sweats and was brutally beaten So there goes your excuse That my tight dress was asking for it It might have escaped your attention, But I donât wake up in the mornings, And put on a skirt thinking, Will this get me raped? I donât put on a tank top hoping, Maybe this one will. #YesAllWomen Because in school, they teach us that our bodies are offensive. They pull us from classrooms And hallways Demanding if we have longer shorts, Or even a sweater, Reminding us that the boys are distracted, That the boys go wild for a peeking shoulder, Or the sight of a sun burned thigh, Because their education is more important than ours. #YesAllWomen Because white men in pressed suits, Expensive watches hanging from their wrists, Red faces glinting with arrogance, Have more say over my body than I do. Because those same men, Quoting the Bible and fake statistics, Have never shed blood, As a twisted sacrifice for being a woman. Because those same men, Have never walked the streets, Fearing for their lives, Clinging to keys between their fingers like a lifeline With pepper spray in their bags, Ready for someone to feel entitled to their body. #YesAllWomen Because when a man says no to us, It is a fault in OUR character. It is because we are not Thin, tan, or perky enough for HIM. Because when WE say no to a man, Its still a fault in OUR character, We are the cold, ruthless bitch, Saying no to the nice guy, Who offered to buy us a drink, And Who complimented our hair. #YesAllWomen Because a UCSB entitled nine-teen year old boy, Can record a video Of his plans to shoot down all the âBlond bimbos who denied him his right,â And then do so, Only to have his actions excused by the media, Claiming he was depressed, Instead of admitting that male entitlement is dangerous. #YesAllWomen Because I am done being silenced And I am done being polite. I am done sitting by And watching As a country hypocritically cries Equality and justice But doesnât have equal pay Lets men make decisions for a womanâs body And blames the victim for the actions of a rapist. #YesAllWomen Because our NO wonât be enough one day. #YesAllWomen Because I wasnât asking for it. #YesAllWomen Because âBoys Will Be Boys,â is still an excuse #YesAllWomen Because âNot All Men Are Like That,â is still a defense. #YesAllWomen Because enough blood has been spilled. #YesAllWomen Because I am sixteen years old, and I am so afraid, when I shouldnât have to be.

I felt so angry at the UCSB massacre (an article about this incident and a script of his videoâs speech) and the sexism weâre blind to everyday so I drew about my opinions on sexism to channel my rage.
Iâm very happy the #YesAllWomen tag is going strong on U.S. Twitter right now. :D

Review: Herschel Supply Pop Quiz Backpack in Chevron Black
(A photo taken from my Instagram feed; see it on the Herschel Supply website here)
Prior to this, I was using a very utilitarian Hawk backpack (something like this, but entirely black) for school. It only had two compartments, but I liked it. It was just ... boring.
Enter this. You all know how much I have been lusting over Herschel Supply's bags for a while. I don't remember how I came across them in the first place, but I was sold. This particular one I asked for as a Christmas gift from a family member who's living in California.
The Pop Quiz silhouette wasn't my first choice. I was strongly drawn to the Mid-Volume Little America. Then the Heritage. Then the Retreat -- this one I seriously considered, but I finally settled on the Pop Quiz because I wanted a big front pocket. But then, I had a difficult time deciding which design I would go for (it was either a nondescript gray one, or this rather loud design). The detail I was most worried about was the pleather bottom, because it might break easily.
Fuck it, I said. It looks so pretty! Get it!
Here we are.
I've had this for around four weeks. Now for the actual review:
1. This bag is much bigger than I thought it was. I'm kind of small, though -- around 5'3". The size might overwhelm you as well if you're on the small side. It does mean more room for more stuff, so I'm fine with it.
2. The canvas-like material it's made out of is tough, thick, and a tad bit stiff (it's softened up since I got it, though). Some people might like it, some might not. I'm kind of in-between. I like knowing it's very sturdy, but sometimes it can be a bit rough my skin. The zippers are also kind of stiff and difficult to open at first, but you get the hang of it eventually.
2.5. Because the canvas is thick and heavy, the bag itself is heavy. Not a problem if you're already used to heavy bags, but it's something to keep in mind.
3. The underside of the straps are very rough and scratchy. I attempted to use this backpack while I was wearing a sleveless top -- not a good idea at all. It painfully chafed my arms and shoulders. Another thing to consider.
4. After only a week, a small tear in the pleather bottom showed up. My initial reaction was "?????"Â because I did my best to take care of it. I e-mailed Herschel Supply about it, but they told me to avoid placing the bag on rough surfaces (I already do this) because they haven't yet created a protective spray for it.Â
Here are a few photos:
(If anyone knows how I can patch this up to avoid any further damage, I'd appreciate it!)
5. I am a fan of the not-so-hidden sunglass compartment. Anything I need access to quickly (like my ID or coin purse) goes in there. I am not a fan of the headphone slot, because my headphone jack looks like this and it doesn't fit through the hole. My laptop (a 15.6-inch beast) doesn't fit in the laptop sleeve, either, but having a separate compartment is nice to keep stuff organized. I assume a 15-inch Macbook Pro would fit in there.
That's pretty much it. Despite the negative stuff, I've mentioned, I do like this backpack a lot. If I were to get another Herschel Supply bag, I'd probably go for something lighter like a Settlement (look at all those colors!) or maybe even the Retreat.
No more pleather bottoms, though.
