this is going to sound like such a little sibling ass take but i genuinely believe that being a little bit annoying is actually a greater sign of maturity and self awareness than being universally likeable and on good terms with everyone
if some people find me annoying and can't stand me because of how i think and act then that means i'm a fully realized human being with my own personality and opinions and free will and not just a reflective surface for other people's desires, which is in fact a good thing despite what people who want you to just be a reflection of their own opinions and desires will tell you, and why being considered "cringe" or whatever doesn't bother me at all
also it's really funny when you're confident enough in yourself to know that people not liking you isn't always a sign that you're the problem. like there's something undeniably hilarious about being aware your mere existence has the power to piss someone off and ruin their day and i recommend embracing it.

i feel like the mod(s?) of this blog simply can't take criticism at all. this isn't even your webcomic
i'm not trying to be rude, but i feel like you're just taking small criticisms the community has voiced and blowing them out of proportion, which just makes this fandom even more of a hellhole to be in
spreading negativity is going to get you nowhere.
i feel like the anon who sent this ask simply can't take criticism at all. this isn't even your webcomic
i'm not trying to be rude, but i feel like you're just taking small criticisms the reporters (members of the community) have voiced and blowing them out of proportion, which just makes this fandom even more of a hellhole to be in
well at least you didnt get bitten by outgroup. getting bitten by outgroup might make you hurt and bleed the exact same amount as getting bitten by ingroup but it would be ontologically worse for some reason
Once again, critique in the Nevermore fandom has become prominent, driven by a small but vocal subset of the community. While this is nothing new, the result is- author Kit "Red" Trace and artist Kate Flynn are ready to stop defending themselves and instead listen and learn.
"I realized that it was just as the people online have been telling me. I haven't been doing my best, and the onus is on me to change," said Red to our reporters. "These fans love Nevermore so much that they simply want it to be the best it can be. They've said themselves that anyone who listens to them has to admit they have a point- well, I'm listening."
After reading through the comments left and discussing, the pair announced how they plan to fix the comic.
"We struggled," admitted Flynn. "Really, we think it's best to redo the entire comic, but we can't figure out how to do so in the way we want. We get critique for taking time off to perfect the art, but also if we rush the art we get that critique as well. Ultimately, we decided to keep the art as it is and simply change all text to make it align with the community's vision."
Of course, going forward, both art and writing will be changed and will continue to evolve in response to any and all community feedback. Promising to no longer be "cowards," as some of their best and most loving fans have accused, the creators have committed to being mere vessels through which the readers can create the story they most want to see, rather than pushing their specific and clearly flawed creative vision.
"Doing it our way regardless of what readers want was selfish and problematic," Flynn told our reporters. "We're changing now because it's all we can do, even if we know it will take years if ever to regain the trust we lost."
As for the first critique they're starting with?
"The latest discourse seems to be about whether putting characters in pants eroticizes them," said Red. "We want to be safe, rather than sorry. No more pants. From now on, all characters will be drawn completely nude below the waist."
Nevermore will continue to release Thursday nights at 9 PM EST.
A new trend is rising in the Nevermore fandom as the popular webcomic becomes subject to criticism about the story being less than accurate in a manner of ways. A small but vocal minority of fans have taken care to bring to the forefront all of the ways in which Nevermore historically falls short- including, they say, in its depictions of disability, racism, and historical prejudice.
"All the disabilities we see don't actually do anything or change how the characters interact with the world," said critical fan Hex22. as he skimmed Episode 67 on a reread. Flipping idly to Episode 109, he added, "Nothing we see truly shows how dismal and grim it is to be a disabled person. The characters never actually suffer due to their disability! The fact that they can be happy at all is really spitting in the audience's face."
Turning to Episode 114 to prove a point, he gestured to Eulalie. "See? She's doing normal things that everyone does, such as adhering to strict rules and expectations for how things should go, having even those friends in her life consider her uncanny or strange, and having a meltdown where she physically lashes out at one of said close friends. She doesn't act autistic at all- she's not robotic, nonverbal, or a burden on society. She needs to have unfavorable traits and not be just quirky!"
"And don't even get me started on Lenore, Pluto, and Prospero," said Hex as he pulled up Episode 71.
Reporters were genuinely interested in Hex's critique and wanted to know if the fan's solution could involve providing Eulalie with an AAC device. But Hex was adamant- absolutely not.
"Don't be ridiculous," said Hex as he looked at Episode 66. "A cursory search shows that while AAC devices were invented in the 1950s, they didn't become popular until the 1980s. She needs to deal with it like anyone would do back then, which is to say she needs to have been diagnosed with "mental defect" and bribed to "behave" by use of token economies."
"In short," Hex said, "I want her to be TRAUMATIZED, and it's ableist that Red and Flynn refuse to show Eulalie broken, battered, and suffering at all times. In fact, I'd say by not making Lenore, Prospero, Annabel Lee, and Pluto all suffering constantly due to their disabilities, they've gone past casual ableism and into conservative hate content and disability porn slop."
The reporters of this story, themselves autistic, left content that Hex made sure at least some autistic people were suffering enough to make readers happy- mostly due to the fact that they suffered a lot reporting this story.

if you build “community” around hating other people, just know that the second you step out of line—regardless of your moral uprightness or the hypocrisy on their part—you’re the next person they’re going to tear to pieces.
its kind of distressing how you can tell a lot of people see popular indie artists and writers and such as like "a Celebrity but one which i stand a half decent chance of bullying to death"
Against All Odds, Fandom Unanimously Agrees on Something
A new trend of Nevermore tag posts has taken the fandom by storm... only it isn't a new trend, and it isn't catching on besides a handful of blogs. Criticizing the official Nevermore fan Discord, commonly called the Nevercord, posts have ranged from simply calling out offenses of Red and the moderation team to calling for a complete boycott of the server.
One takes that boycott a step farther than might be anticipated, claiming that all who refuse said boycott stray into a certain political viewpoint that is almost unilaterally condemned in the comic's fandom. Witnesses have sprung up from all factions with the same words on their lips: what the fuck?
"It's a gross escalation of the issue at hand," said a member of comic-critical fan server Quoth the Raven, Nevermore. "And obvious rage bait."
Across the imaginary table where this imaginary interview was conducted, an imaginary Nevercord member nodded. "Everyone's pointed out how messed up it is already, but just to be clear: it's messed up, and the poster should be ashamed."
A member of a certain private fan server sighed, then added her own two cents: "Fucked up for sure," to which the Tumblr representative hummed their own agreement.
As always, members of Spirtbound had nothing to add and stayed silent.
This brief agreement signaled an armistice between the servers, complete with celebratory cake, handshakes and hugs all around, and a few tearful apologies. Unfortunately, it only lasted a few seconds before someone- reporters are unsure who- criticized something, causing someone else to absolutely lose their shit.
Any progress made to unite the turbulent fandom has been undone and then some, but at least one step forward has been taken: everyone is fully on the same side that you should not compare a Discord server to genocidal, dangerous, evil regimes.
Vicious Monopoly Finally Broken In Nevermore Fandom
The emergence of two new news blogs reporting on the state of the Nevermore fandom has done more than simply allowed the thousands of fans access to the newest information. They have both faced down a goliath of a news site, striking a blow against "the Man" and winning the day for independent reporters everywhere. No longer is fan-favorite Nevermore Webtoon News a vicious monopoly- at long last, the fandom is open to choice.
Real Nevermore News burst onto the scene a week ago with a single hard hitting piece that rallied against their big news network counterpart, specifically a recent article about usage of AI in the fandom. Their silence since this publication has been measured, clearly meant to make the fandom think, and probably not for any other reason whatsoever.
Meanwhile, CNNevermore has been around for a little longer, starting a mere few months after the behemoth Nevermore Webtoon News. Their news is reported with a style and flair that adds visual charm. In addition, their lead reporter possesses a distinct and casual personality with a knack for breaking kayfabe.
Reporters here at Nevermore Webtoon News asked the reporters of Nevermore Webtoon News their feelings at having two newcomers swooping onto the scene, and got this response: "Honestly? We support independent journalism and competition. Our publication isn't for everyone, that much is clear."
When asked by our reporters if our reporters would stop reporting, the answer remained a resounding "no." "We love to do this, when there's something funny or interesting to report. And we've gotten so much support from so many people, and only a few messages telling us to go suck dicks in hell. How could we quit in the peak of our careers?"
It's clear that despite steep competition, Nevermore Webtoon News remains undaunted. And with the fandom bigger than ever, perhaps this is the best time to get a little bit competitive... or simply spread the love and let people enjoy all three.
Local Nevermore Fan Out Of Other Things To Do On Thursdays
After the announcement of yet another week off, a local Nevermore fan is upset for one reason and one reason only- she is very quickly running out of things to do on Thursdays.
"Look," said 19-year old Cammie Bright as she twiddled her thumbs with a bored expression, "it's simple. I go home, I slide into my most gothic pajamas, make myself my preferred last meal, and eat it in bed with my cell phone while I read the latest episode of award-winning Webtoon Original Nevermore. Then, I usually die for about ten minutes before leaving a comment I hope becomes a top comment so I get that sweet engagement, then off I go to the various discord servers so I can discuss."
But without an episode, Cammie has been left adrift, forced to break routine and try some new things.
"I went to the movies once, but it wasn't the same; you can't leave comments on a movie. There's so many hobbies I've tried, but they all require a lot of brainpower. And no one even wants to discuss touching grass, I can't find a single serious Discord server for it."
Reporters, outside their usual scope, kindly suggested that perhaps what Bright was looking for was not a wonderful gothic webcomic, but perhaps something more akin to community, and suggested she try to engage the friends she's made throughout the Nevermore fandom in a different way on Thursdays.
But Bright seemed insistent. "Look, it's a good idea, but tell the truth. You're just as hungry for new content as I am. It's good of Red and Flynn to be healthy and like, get sleep or whatever, but just as much as we can agree about that, we can also all be way disappointed that it meant no new episode this week."
Reporters declined to comment with sheepish looks on their faces, and merely reported that they hope the creators do in fact get some rest and feel better. Preferably, well before next Thursday.

i may make a nevermore news account
WHICH
IM AWARE THERE ARE SOME ALREADY, AND WE DONT RLLY NEEED ANOTHER
BUT!!!!
the current ones are very gimmicky imo
which is entirely fine, thats in no way a criticism of those blogs
i just think itd also be nice to have a place to find news on the comic + fandom that isnt told behind the sterotypical reporter voice gimmick, yknw?
i wouldnt be an anonymous blog runner either
when it comes to actual news/opinions, i do think its important that the viewer knows who theyre getting information from
then they can tell if theyre learning from someone who has any beliefs they dont agree with or any heavy biases that influence their work
id love some feedback if you have any ! requests, questions, concerns, wtvs on your mind
ill be making the blog at some point soon but it is still a fresh idea in my mind so anything helps
thank you! :D
Breaking news! We would love to see another news blog spring up in the fandom. While we personally find anonymity works best for our purposes of satire and Onion-inspired poking fun at everyone, having a non-anonymous place for actual fandom news is something that all of us here at NWN can agree with. Best of luck on your journey, and let us know when you make the blog so that we can highlight it to our readers!
I hope you take anonymous tips. You know how toxic the Nevermore tags have gotten on Tumblr lately? There is a Discord server that a group of people from Tumblr hang out in where pretty much all they do is talk about their Nevermore grievances.
They create new discourse for fun, and make memes together to upset people on the tag. One of the loudest voices in there is the Nevermore Confessions mod. They use that blog to start drama because they get bored. That potential man meme Red commented on, they made it together to provoke her, because she'd just commented on another post so they knew she was logged in. Then they dogpiled her in the comments and reblogs when she took the bait, and chased her off Tumblr again.
Honestly their behavior towards Red in general is creepy and parasocial, they talk about her constantly and slander her like it's a sport. It gets really personal and they make up lies about her together like pretending she sends them death threats even though they all know she never has. They even joke about how they'd be canceled if anyone found out. I am a long-time lurker in there, and I have screencaps but can't send them to you anonymously.
You don't need to take my word for it though, it's a public server in the Discord directory, under the tag nevermore-webtoon. It is called "Quoth the Raven, Nevermore." You can join and look for yourself. I think they should be exposed. This small group of people has talked about trying to get Red to quit the series and they've even paid for Patreon just so they can stalk her. I feel bad watching it happen but I can't go up against them myself, they scare me.
Anon, thanks for your reporting, and don't worry, you're not alone- our reporters have been observing QtRN personally for quite some time. This gave us the final push to really want to share this server with the fandom as a whole and stop hoarding it all to ourselves. We really think that EVERYONE should go join that server at the link here and see EXACTLY what they're up to! If you do, please do it only for research and spread of positivity, and please be sure not to harass or harm, but of course that goes without saying!
Servers do grow and change however, and sometimes things get deleted. Just in case this happens due to the large influx of new users we expect they'll get- which would be awful suspicious, and an admission of guilt, really- we did compile the entirety of their nevermore-grievances channel into a handy document that people can find here.
We also want to post some screenshots that absolutely fascinated us right here for all to see! We'll leave those below the cut, but boy, everyone should check them out. They're snippets of some INCREDIBLY interesting discussions!
Pulling the strings in the tumblr fandom
Ever felt like you are out of the loop of the Nevermore fandom here on tumblr? That takes come out of nowhere, and mean posts spring up, then garner attention, despite everyone you know with a tumblr being a sweetie? Maybe there's a reason. This server, and the grievances channel in particular, acts as a hub for a group of select tumblr users to plan out things to post- up to and including timing of posts, content, and even who they all block.
Luckily, they block a lot. If you've had anything they consider a "bad opinion," you may not ever see their posts. "Bad opinions" (such as disliking Annabel, or liking Lenore's spectre) get posted in the server for all to add to their block list. In all honesty- good on them for curating the experience they want to see, but strange for people so vocal about criticism being important and Red not being able to handle criticism!
Sometimes, however, they don't block. Sometimes, they desire to pick a fight.
And sometimes, they even attempt manipulation of the creators themselves... or one creator, in particular, though we'll get into that later.
Airing dirty laundry
Even if you're not on tumblr, if you have interacted with them at all in the fandom, you are not safe. If they disagree with your opinions, they will put you down and mock you. If you are someone they have no personal beef with but you associate with those who they do, you still may not be safe. We have noted both recruitment attempts (tell your friend to come to the cooler server! tell your friend not to talk to this person, they're so harmful!) and put-downs based on this.
Once they have their eyes on you, anything you do or say to them or around them is up for scrutiny. While sometimes these conversations are brought to DMs, other times the naming and shaming happens very publicly. One member of the server is also a former patron, and there are allusions to that person sharing things said in the official server's patreon-chat... a place that sources confirm is generally considered both safe and private otherwise.
Members here banned from the official Discord have also tried to circumvent things to continue to have eyes on the server, though this seems to have failed.
Martin (or, as they're known here on tumblr, littlekandiclown)
On tumblr and on the official Nevermore Discord server, Martin seems to be an absolute sweetheart at times, and at least one of the reporters for NWN looked upon them fondly. However, seems that behind closed doors that sweetness wears off, and they're almost disturbingly violent in intention (or at the very least, in her sense of humor).
Obsessed with (and incredibly hypocritical about) Red
Much of their attention goes to fixating on Red- her reactions, the way they think she'll react, and similar.
The thing about this is that much of what they critique her for is the same things that they themselves do: disagreeing with people on tumblr, countering opinions, defending her friends, and frankly, just living her best life.
One thing that has come up is that Red doesn't frequently block people, to which they say she should. That if she doesn't want to see the criticisms, she should block. However, when she states that she is leaving tumblr (both the first time when she limited account usage to posting promos and professionalism only) and the second time, this is criticized and mocked.
A broken clock
...is right twice a day. Some of the things they bring to light in this server are actually things that should be discussed and brought to light and even somewhat policed in the fandom. Usage of slurs, AI, fastpass spoilers, and the inactivity of the official Discord mods are all rightfully criticized.
Therefore, our ask is you do not come into this with hate in your heart and thinking of these people as enemies or potential enemies. They are flawed humans, as are we all, and they are doing their best. However, the best of most people don't involve mass schemes, obsession with a minor public figure, and violent intentions.
Just as they are right to criticize others, so should others be to criticize them, and it is in this spirit that this document has been released. Our greatest hope here at NWN is that people will join their (again, public facing) server and bring in light, positivity, and the courage to call out things that need to be called out in the channels there.
That said, please don't counter-harass these users in your pursuit of the truth or a better fandom. Most of the users of this server do not seem active in the grievances channel, and the server has many positive notes- namely, a strong community that other public Nevermore servers don't seem to have. Come in to fact check and work towards change, but not to harm or harass.
We at Nevermore Webtoon News have been getting a lot of anonymous tips lately, something that we want to encourage! One of the most recent will definitely be making it into an upcoming news cycle very soon. We would love to be able to further interview our tipster if they feel comfortable. Remember, our ask box is always open, anonymous or not!
Unofficial Nevermore Server Lauded For Elaborate Performance Art
Nevermore Academy, the eponymous setting of acclaimed Webtoon Nevermore, teaches many subjects. From summoning a spectre to learning about the mysterious Land of the Dead, the students certainly have much to absorb in the hallowed halls of the fictional institution. However, there are a few things we never see in the school's course catalog, and one of those is art.
One Nevermore discord server has decided to take this into their own hands... or should we say, into their spectral tethers. Spiritbound is frequently shown on Discord discovery index Disboard as one of its most active Nevermore servers... and frequently listed as the most active non-official server, period. The 300+ member server boasts a ton of features, including group activities, voice acting, community, and working towards 24/7 active chats.
Their latest group activity, then, is obvious: the entire server has come together, bound to emulate the spirits their preferred webcomic is about. With no conversation in most channels, the place has been ghostly silent as of recent, despite no shortage of people to do the talking. On such a dedicated server, such quiet can only mean that they are either trying to imitate the wisps in an elaborate act of performance art... or that they're attempting the world record for largest and longest text-based quiet game, of which there has been no evidence.
To not interrupt the flow of their artsy machinations, and perhaps to add to the scheme's number, only the Disboard bump bot ticks on... that, and a few people who didn't get the memo speaking in lounge. Other than that, Spiritbound is as quiet as the infirmary after the Wild Hunt trampled through it, which is to say- deathly still.
Nevermore Webtoon News reporters attempted to ask one of the server's moderators when this event would be over and users could expect to see the return of the promised chatter. However, and perhaps predictably, they got no response. Reporters remain on the scene to cover further developments in this ongoing story.
Anya is live and ready to show you everything. Watch her strip, dance, and perform exclusive shows just for you. Interact in real-time and make your fantasies come true.

I have news to report: everyone in Nevermore is gay.
My sources are: the webcomic.
Reporters attempted to conduct interviews with the accused to confirm this, but they were too busy kissing those of the same gender with tongue. More to come as the story unfolds.
