Pink Terror

“…I did not do anything….but walk past them.” She told herself as she watched him approach another. Brows furrowed as a man once lost in the darkness recovered with thanks to the other. She didn’t understand, why would he help that man? Could it be he lied to her?

Memo picked up quickly enough that she should stay in her magical girl form, just in case. Not all of the weird creatures were small and easily dealt with.

Along the park path she was currently walking, she passed by a couple people who seemed… distraught, would be the closest word she could think of. Deeply saddened or troubled. Yet when she tried to talk to them, they didn’t speak back, and simply shoved past her, her bright sparkles and happy demeanor seemingly doing nothing. It didn’t stop her from trying to talk to each one, though. But there wasn’t much she could do after they forced themselves past her.

She saw a short distance ahead of her now a bench, with a girl sitting on it. She was swinging her legs, the sound of bells softly audible from this distance from the gentle rocking of her body. Memo, just like with every other person she passed, wanted to try speaking to them too, in case she could make them feel happier.

“Hey! I really like your outfit, it’s cute.” she said, walking closer to the bench. She kept a nice distance though; she didn’t want to invade the other’s personal space unwelcome. “Do the butterflies come with it, or are they just hangin around?”

{ ❀ } —— The butterflies had come to a stop, one seated on the free space of either side of her on the bench, the third simply fluttering about. She was filled with a desire to spread her heartache, in hopes of sharing her loneliness she wouldn’t feel so alone. And it worked!.....To some extent. Around her were people who were once enjoying themselves and enjoying the company of another. Without a moments notice that would be soon stripped of them. 

For most, a blinding darkness consumed them. Nothing could be seen before them, their mouth moving to form words but nothing coming out. Nothing could be heard, nothing seen, nothing spoken, and a sense of abandonment filling them. They would feel what she felt, that way she wouldn’t feel so alone. . . . Except she still did. She was so wrapped up in her own thoughts she didn’t notice the other approach until she made herself known. She’s quickly straighten up, head turning to the other’s direction, violet eyes hidden behind messy pink bangs. 

     It seems no one was fighting back– which was good. It’s not like this was targeted at anyone in particular, so no one had a reason to complain, right? Inwardly, however, she couldn’t help but wish someone did something. Smashing things up was fun, of course…

But internally, she felt like she needed something more. However, her thoughts were set aside as she felt someone grab her shoulder. Tenshi’s barrage stopped itself, as the celestial turned.

“Huh? Where did you come from? Sneaking up on me like that…”

     For a moment, she had thought Yachiru to be another– but quickly realized her mistake. After all, with that hollow gaze in her eyes, she couldn’t have been the inchling she knew.

“You were so short, I almost had you mistaken for someone else… hmph.”

“Anyways, I don’t need to worry about my blood pressure. This is the best way to relax, you know? By going wild and letting everything out on this transient world!” Tenshi declares this with gusto, smirking fiercely… before canting her head at the other with an inquisitive stare. “… So what’s with you? You look miserable.”

{ ❀ } —— Of course she was short, Yachiru was about 6 years old so I’d make sense for her to be so small. So were the blue haired girl’s words meant to insult? Yachiru wasn’t entirely sure. It seemed to carry so attitude but whatever the case it didn’t bother her. 

“It is?...“ She questioned with a blank tilt of her head. Yachiru only cared to watch the destruction of infrastructures if the cause of its collapse was due to a fight--preferably if Kenpachi were one of the parties fighting. But watching these buildings fall due to some energy beams wasn’t the same. “Weirdo....” She mumbled before answering the others question. 

(”Butterflies, huh?”)

It sounded romantic, in the sense that someone who read gothic period novels would find the notion romantic. Butterflies were associated with the souls of the departed long, long ago–Anda themselves liked butterflies for the same reason. Those same three came to greet them, flittering around the director’s head before taking off to dance among the graves.

“…Yeah. Death is kinda the family business. So it, kind of is my thing. Not a lot of people hang out in graveyards, so the few people you do meet are usually pretty weird. Y’know?”

At her touch, the girl would feel her body begin to ache, weighed down by an influx of sorrow that had no business belonging in one person’s body alone.

“Don’t do that.”

Gently, their own hand went to lift hers off of their shoulder.

“You’ve got enough of your own issues going on, don’t you? Like there’s something missing… Am I getting that right? It’s powerful, what you’re feeling…” ….. “I’m sorry you even are feeling it.” (”You’re just a kid…”)

{ ❀ } —— “Death is.....your family business?“ Brows knitted as she repeated their words. It confused her, was the stranger before her a shinigami too? While the pinkette wasn’t one to frequent cemeteries, she dealt heavily with death, as one would imagine a shinigami to. “Are you-” 

She didn’t get to finish her question, there was a soft gasp in place of it. Her eyes watered, threatening to spill. It stung, but just as the urge came it quickly left. Big violet eyes met the other’s becoming more and more confused the longer she was with them.

Her arm moved up to her face, rubbing whatever teary build up was made onto the sleeve of her kimono. “Someone.” She nodded before correcting them. She missed her surrogate father gravely. So much so that Yachiru wasn’t entirely  sure what to do. But one thing was certain--she wasn’t the only one hurting. 

Yachiru softly shook her head, what she felt before must have been whatever their feelings were. It didn’t feel like fun--her own feelings weren’t fun to deal with either. “But .... I’m not the only one that’s sad.” There’s an all too familiar glint in her eyes. Everything could be fixed with a good game! “ Let’s play together...! ” There was excitment in her voice, she knew the best game to play right now.

{ ❀ } Dialogue text has been changed to italics to denote the change in her voice. It’s a lot softer and slower compared to how bold and lively she usually is. 

{ ❀ } She’s stopped referring to others by the nicknames she assigned. 

{ ❀ } The way she over all talks is very unlike her too.

{ ❀ }  She’s non hostile-but will attack if provoked. 

{ ❀ } Probably try not to let purple glowing butterflies touch you, unless you like the suffocating feeling of solitude/abandonment. Where no one can hear your desperate cries, Where your surrounded by nothing but boundless darkness. The only way to remove this is with very powerful comforting love, or if she becomes a child of the light. 

{ ❀ } The four bells that chime along with her steps work the same as the butterflies. The only thing is that it only works on the NPC’S that can’t see her. They only hear the sound of her bells as she walks by, then are struck with what I described before. 

{ ❀ } Her goal is to spread a sense of abandonment, and solitude to alleviate the pain in her chest.

{ ❀ } She needs a 97 hour hug, and to sleep cuddling up next to someone to fix this tbh.

{ ❀ } —— It was admittedly a bit difficult for Yachiru to see through elongated disheveled bangs. She’d find adjusting it didn’t help, and for the most part she mindlessly followed the butterflies her lantern produced. They guided her, so she’d rely on them while walking. The three purple butterflies of unknown energy merged into a slightly bigger black butterfly, roughly the size of her hand. Her head tilted to the side as she instinctively raised a free hand, allowing the butterfly to sit on her finger. “Hmm?” She looked up from the butterfly

“How unexpectedly delightful.” He descended, gracefully, from his position above her, bells tinkling as he did, wings motionless. Sanetoshi was pure white, his pink hair a dazzling adornment to his uniform, the back of his head bright with the glow of what seemed to be a halo.

“Look at you, alone, full of despair. Ah, are people avoiding you now because you are not longer bright as day?” The tone was not condescending, were the words? His intention was not clear as he held a hand out to her, an apple manifesting.

“How deep does your solitude run, I wonder? How many of these base civilians have you claimed, Yachiru?”

     { ❀ } —— The soft chime of bells came to a halt as Yachiru stopped, her attention falling to the other as he descended before her. The two purple butterflies that were perched on either shoulder fluttered away towards the lantern, settling themselves a top of it instead of returning inside. She’d watch them move before violet irises looked up to the other through disheveled pink bangs. There was a soft tilt of her head from his words. “ Are they?.....I cannnot answer...for the actions....of others.” Her tone was devoid of emotion as she spoke her words slowly. She didn’t hesitate in taking the apple, simply slipping it into her kimono. She have to peal the skin off it if she’d want to enjoy it later.

Yachiru turned her back to the other, raising her hand up ahead as she pointed ahead, directing him to the countless citizens stricken with a sense of crippling abandonment. Some grasping their throats trying to cry out but finding their voice stripped of them. Others seeking comfort against the concrete walls or the floor they once stood on, finding they can no longer see what was before them, nor hear the world around them. Unknowingly to her, they would experience the type of solidarity confinement she once did when the soft chime of her bells reached their ears. “Was I supposed to...keep count?” 

“mmm? Oh, just, causing some fluffin misery and lookin for  booze. No biggy. What’r ya want kid?” The big blue eyes shifted from some other potential victim of her beams towards the other girl that walked closer. A fellow dark magical girl? She haven’t seen those yet. A cigar stuck between the teeth as she inhaled the smoke one more time and allowed it to linger there before exhaling it back through nose. 

Her hands looked….unnecessary black and her eyes occasionally grew small green lightning. They usually became completely green when she used her magic full power. Not now. Now she is lazy. 

 { ❀ } —— She hadn't expect to find another dark magical girl along her path, she simply followed the along with the butterflies. They guided her, and her actions. “Causing misery...?” she softly repeated, a butterfly landing on her shoulder. Her attention fell upon it for a moment as she stared intently at it. A soft nod was given by the pinkette as her gaze fell back upon the other.

“I want to join you.....” Yachiru softly shook her lantern, more and more butterflies escaping the confines of the gold lantern. She raised her arm, making circulate motions with her wrist. “ Fly away....” She commanded before striking the end of the golden staff to the floor, he butterflies disputing as if on cue. Upon contact, those who held the fortune of meeting one of Yachiur’s little helpers were meet with a crippling sense of abandonment, wanting to scream and cry out but finding their voice gone. They felt the pain she carried for centuries. 

 { ❀ } —— The soft chime of bells echoed like a forgotten memory with each passing step she took. Even without the use of her butterflies, the chimes of her bells were enough to make miscellaneous citizens grow teary eyes. She’d come to forget, learn, and forget again that a vast majority of humans are unable to see the shinigami. As people rushed down the street, she walked up, the crowd seeming to part ways from her. “Where are....they going?”

Her question would soon find an answer. She watched the other blow off some steam before approaching. A small hand found it’s way to the other’s shoulder.

The longing, the loneliness from this girl rolled over to them like heavy iron bearings, condensed into tiny little spheres that only the director could see. Ordinarily, the specifics of one’s misery were lost on them, as they could only differentiate grief from the usual influx of sorrow. But given recent events…

“…Hey.” (”She looks really young…”) “Should you be in a spot like this? It’s… a graveyard.”

Of course, a cemetery attendant in a cemetery made sense! Which Anda was. But this was someone unfamiliar–and therefore, out of place in such a gloomy spot.

“Unless that’s your thing.” (”I sure as hell can’t judge.”)

 { ❀ } —— Her movement’s were much slower than usual, as though were a heavy weight on her chest dragging her down. The pinkette had been absently following the path three little stray purple butterflies lead her to, and before she knew it another voice called to her. Yachiru slowly turned her head up to the other, reddened violet irises void of emotion peering up at them with a stoic expression.

  { ❀ } —— Yachiru found herself accompanied by two creatures of sorrow floating some steps behind her. The one to her right hung its head in a bitter mixture of pain and longing, while the other had tears streaming from its yellow eyes head up for the world to see. Tired violet eyes watched the green haired girl for a moment before approaching. Giving a light shake to the lantern three purple butterflies phased through it’s golden confinement. They circled around Yachiru almost like a halo, with little purple specs glittering down with every other flap of their wings.

I’m a little hesitant about writing a not-so-happy Yachiru buuuuuut event starter call capped at 3? If you’ve thread with her before you’re exempt~! I’ll probably slip into im/pm/dm? 

{ ✿ } —— Solitude; something that should have been foreign to pinkette felt painfully familiar. She sat in the confines of her hut alone, but not really alone. She could hear the snores of others, and the light shuffling of the Pariahs. That was once enough to settle her nerves and allow her to sleep without the company of another. There was a pain her chest she was unaware of that was steadily growing since the month of February began. 

Yachiru though nothing of it at first, ignoring it all together in the beginning. After the indents that happened through out the other sectors she’d pin it on the thought of those poor innocent lives that were taken before their time. But deep inside a part of her knew that wasn’t exactly true. Had she reached out to someone they may have helped the small shinigami sort out her feelings before it reached this stage, but it was too late.
