I can be someone’s and still be my own.
Shel Silverstein (via quotemadness)
I don’t have anything to prove to anybody, which is a lovely place to be.
Edward Norton (via quotemadness)
She always had that about her, that look of otherness, of eyes that see things much too far, and of thoughts that wander off the edge of the world.

“She was too much under the influence of an ardent imagination to adhere to common rules.”

What’s that?
“Rawness is so attractive, because so much is being filtered nowadays.”

I was rewatching 5 centimeters per second and I couldn’t help but stop and admire how extremely beautiful all of the scenes are and how much I felt like I was actually in that world.
Five centimetres per second; the speed at which cherry blossoms fall. Five centimetres per second; the speed at which we drift away from each other.

Haven’t posted here for a while, so thought maybe I should.. it’s a weird period of time right now. I’ve been learning how to communicate with people, so it feels less necessary to communicate anonymously with the world in this way..
In saying that, the things I talk to people about aren’t the things I speak about here.. but I guess it frees up enough mental space to think my art-related thoughts more clearly.
Anyway. Third instalment of my Sk8 Drills practice series.. I think Sk8 and Dojo drills will continue on at random intervals, helps to develop my fast-action related skillset in a way that connects with things I‘m excited by. Also thinking to add ‘Stillness’ to that line up, so I can learn how to create beautiful, thought provoking backgrounds and passing moments for my eventual longer projects... photography is also assisting with this goal.
Will reblog some examples shortly to remind myself, before finally getting back into the inspiring world of Final Fantasy
“If you love a flower, don’t pick it up. Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be.Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation.”

“She liked to disappear, even when she was in the same room as other people. It was a talent, as it was a curse.”
— Alice Hoffman (via quotemadness)
“So little of what could happen does happen.”

“I don’t suppose you have many friends. Neither do I. I don’t trust people who say they have a lot of friends. It’s a sure sign that they don’t really know anyone.”
— Carlos Ruiz Zafón
The daydream that inspired me to take driving lessons lol. On my insta, I rambled a little about RPG’s and stepping out of my comfort zone, no need to repeat.
I had a few of study goals with this one; to work out the formula for timing animation with music (it’s a bit mathematical), to give a sense of narrative rather than just animating what looks cool and to improve my continuity in stringing shots together. Also learned that my favourite part of production is called ‘Sound Design’ - this is essentially the sourcing or creation of sound fx, followed by layering and synchronisation to create a sound scale for the imagery. I’m considering taking a course somewhere to bring me up to a professional level, so I can potentially work with others.
I think sound is what brings life and authenticity to a piece, ‘sound is information’ and we often subconsciously hear a lot more than we see in our environment. In the future, I think I’d like immersive soundscapes to be a signature of my style, along with my constant ode to the sky. I will continue averting my attention to film theory because these details are what will elevate my work in the future.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with it - it’s my most fluid example of translating a storyboard to production. Need to hone in on my shading and lineart though, I chose to simply rely on my fashion illustration technique, but there’s a lack of clarity in an animation setting. Might have to stop being stubborn and try out cel shading
