With a "The Knight stole Dess' drip theory". Dess is still alive, somewhere, and has fought the knight before. For some reason, the Knight took her shape and parts of her personality, almost as if it wants to replace her?

I'm reading Heaven's Official Blessing for the first time, also my first Danmei, and the tonal, genre and cultural whiplash I felt was enormous.

13 pages in and this guy saved a kid, fistfighted a ghost and got invited into heaven.

For reference, my last read was George Orwell's Animal Farm just a few days ago.

For context, this is not a critique of the book, I actually think that Heaven's official blessing is pretty cool. Just, it's kinda funny to go from "Snowball gets framed for literally everything that happens in the story" to "Xie Lian beats a ghost to death and gets a 'get into heaven free' card from god"

Also, to more experienced danmei readers I wanna ask:

Is there anything I need to know before getting into the book? I'm used to more grounded stories, with less "established characters". Having a protagonist that already ascended to heaven thrice in a row is quite overwhelming.

To celebrate, here's an hc about them:

For how he grew up and what he was taught to fear and value, Zuko sleeps with an eye open. He is constantly with a high guard and paranoid that someone might have bad intentions against him. This is especially after getting his scar by Ozai, leading to heavy trust issues during his life.

Aang, on the other hand, is way too trustworthy. He has been raised with the idea that anyone has some good inside, even if they don't want to see it. Because of this, he's extremely laid back and easily gives people the benefit of the doubt.

When they become friends, that's one of the first things they notice about eachother usually commenting on their opposites behavior. Zuko pointing out how Aang might get himself in danger like that, and Aang scolding Zuko on how he'll never build a lasting relationship without putting a bit of trust into the other person (see the incident with Mai during The Beach).

As they get closer, their approach also shifts , with Aang learning to be more wary of certain people and to not always assume the best and Zuko recovering from his trust issues by slowly opening up to the rest of the gaang like he did with his uncle back on the ship.

To add to that, Aang encouraged Zuko into confronting Mai and their previous relationship after the break up. Fortunately they made up and are currently in good terms(With Mai also confessing her homosexuality).

New AU concept? Zuko is a demon, Aang is an oracle, the demon themed Fire Nation is hunting Aang down or something like that. Zuko protects him cuz he wants revenge. He's all aura and no threat, pure black cat behavior.
