ABOUT ME: Who am I and what is my agenda? My name's Neptuii I make traditional and digital art and I also like to create playlists! What is my art about? I mainly draw my persona, my ocs or personas/ocs of my friends. I like to draw in cartoonish and semi-realistic artstyle, although it changes every single time (artstyle consistency who?) I do also draw characters from different fandoms/media I am fond of ------------------------------------------- What fandoms I am in? ────────────────── ⋆⋅♛⋅⋆ ─────────────────── First of all, I think it's both funny and interesting how similar their personalities are. They're both cunning, two-faced, and manipulative individuals with hidden motives, which on its own would already make for a chaotic combination. Just imagine these two constantly trying to play each other, turning one another into assets or pawns in their own personal mind games, lol. Like I mentioned in my ask for Quetzal, Ilian would probably have mixed feelings about Astra. Ilian tends to regard most of the theatre's residents with either disdain or indifference, but Astra's personality would likely catch his attention. More specifically, Ilian would notice the way Astra puts on a kind and charming facade whenever he wants something. After spending years observing all kinds of deceptive individuals from the backstage, Ilian has become very good at recognizing people's masks and the strategies hidden behind them. Astra would stand out to him in the same way an experienced player notices an interesting variation in a familiar game. I think the same could apply from Astra's perspective. However, Astra would probably be the first one to approach. Ilian is much more of an observer. While he does occasionally seek people out himself, I don't think he would feel any particular need to approach Astra. Besides, Ilian rarely appears in public. If they met, it would likely be because Astra happened to notice him roaming the theatre halls while carrying out one of his secret errands. What makes their dynamic so interesting is that they're simultaneously very similar and fundamentally at odds with one another. It's almost like two players suddenly realizing they're competing on the same board.

Quetzal mentioned that Astra enjoys people who aren't pushovers and who push back against him. He likes a challenge. Ilian would absolutely qualify. He's not someone who allows himself to be pushed around. He got more than enough of that during Crownus' reign. If he realized Astra was trying to wrap him around his finger, Astra would quickly discover that he'd need to try much harder than he would with most other puppets.

Ilian isn't easily swayed by pretty words or flirtatious remarks. He would see straight through Astra's sweet facade. By nature, Ilian distrusts everyone, whether they're puppet or human. Trust is something he keeps locked away, and nobody has gotten particularly close to it in a long time. On top of that, Ilian being demiromantic and demisexual would make Astra's flirtation largely ineffective. Without a genuine emotional connection, he simply wouldn't experience that kind of attraction. And considering that both of them are emotionally guarded individuals, building such a connection would already be an uphill battle. In fact, Ilian might openly show just how little Astra's manipulative tactics affect him. He's naturally sarcastic and sharp-tongued. Rather than responding positively, he might greet Astra's attempts with a cold shoulder, a mocking smirk, or a biting comment that makes it clear he isn't buying the act.

That being said, if Ilian found Astra useful— or simply remained intrigued by his unique abilities— he might occasionally play along. Not enough to genuinely encourage him, but enough to keep Astra interested and maintain access to whatever information or advantages he could gain from the interaction. One thing he definitely wouldn't appreciate, at least early on, would be physical affection. Even if he tried not to show it, he'd make it obvious that such tactics weren't getting the desired reaction. Still, I wonder if their narcissistic tendencies could eventually click in some strange way.

Of course, that would require both of them to stop viewing the other as a potential tool, which is already a difficult hurdle. Ilian consistently places his own goals above everything else. Emotional attachments tend to complicate those goals, especially when it comes to something as important to him as his plans for revenge. Unless Astra somehow aligned himself with those ambitions— or became important enough for Ilian to trust him with that information at all— maintaining a lasting connection would be difficult. Ilian simply isn't someone who keeps people around for long. ────────────────── ⋆⋅♛⋅⋆ ───────────────────

Now, moving on to the more amusing aspects of their dynamic. I know I'm Ilian's creator, but I still find it funny that most other puppet OCs end up being significantly taller than him. I made him shorter on purpose. He was originally designed to play lesser antagonist roles in theatre productions, helping make the more important characters appear grander by comparison. On top of that, I felt a smaller stature suited a thief. It makes him seem stealthier, sneakier, and less likely to attract attention. That said, I can absolutely imagine this becoming a source of frustration for him in relationships with taller puppets haha.

Despite his height, Ilian naturally leans toward a more dominant role in relationships. He could switch under the right circumstances, but it would require an exceptional level of trust and emotional intimacy—something that's already difficult to earn from him, especially in his current state. And with someone like Astra? Yeah, absolutely not. He would refuse to take on a more submissive role. Even so, his height doesn't make him feel any less confident. If anything, it would probably encourage Astra to tease him. xD I can easily imagine Astra looming over him, leaning against a wall to block his path, or using the height difference to get under his skin.

Depending on whether Ilian had developed feelings for Astra or not, his reaction would vary. If no feelings were involved, he'd probably just stare back with cold annoyance, viewing it as yet another attempt to mock or manipulate him. If they somehow became close, though, he might secretly enjoy it. Not that he'd ever admit it. More likely, he'd respond with the same mocking disregard as always— or immediately try to turn the situation around and assert dominance in his own way. ────────────────── ⋆⋅♛⋅⋆ ─────────────────── The same goes for the PDA meter. Ilian isn't the type to openly display affection, especially in public. On a subconscious level, he tends to view emotional vulnerability as a weakness, so openly showing attachment to someone would make him uncomfortable. In that regard, he's a complete contrast to Astra's naturally flirtatious and outgoing demeanor. If anything, Ilian would be far more receptive to teasing or flirting when they're alone. Away from prying eyes, he wouldn't feel the same pressure to keep his guard up or maintain appearances. Another aspect of their dynamic that I find interesting is the contrast in how they express affection. As I've mentioned before, pretty words won't get someone very far with Ilian. Compliments, charm, and sweet talk are exactly the kind of tools he expects manipulators to use. If Astra genuinely wanted to earn his trust, he would need to prove his feelings through actions rather than words. The challenge, of course, is that those actions would have to feel genuine. Ilian is extremely good at spotting when someone is acting with an ulterior motive, and the moment he suspects he's being manipulated, any progress would likely disappear. At best, he'd continue seeing Astra as a useful ally rather than someone he could truly trust. Whether that kind of honest, consistent show of affection would come naturally to Astra is another question entirely for me. It would require him to step outside of the methods he usually seems to rely on and be vulnerable in ways he may not be comfortable with. As for jealousy, I don't think Ilian would be particularly possessive by default. He's nowhere near the level of someone like Jestyn. He values independence and would generally have no issue giving his partner personal space and freedom. What would bother him, however, is feeling like he isn't truly special to the person he's chosen to trust. Because of Astra's flirtatious nature, I could easily see that becoming a source of tension between them. Ilian has very little relationship experience, and if he ever allowed himself to become emotionally invested in someone, he'd want to know that the affection he receives is genuine and reserved for him. He dislikes feeling used, replaceable, or like a second choice. If Astra continued treating everyone with the same flirtatious attention he gave Ilian, that insecurity could slowly create a divide between them.

How Ilian reacts would largely depend on how much he cares about Astra at that point. If the relationship were still relatively shallow, he'd likely distance himself and quietly place Astra back into the same category as everyone else: someone not worth fully trusting.

If the attachment ran deeper, however, his jealousy could become much uglier. Ilian isn't someone who handles vulnerability gracefully, and his fear of losing something important to him could easily manifest as possessiveness. Either way, he would make it very clear that he doesn't appreciate being played with. ────────────────── ⋆⋅♛⋅⋆ ─────────────────── On a more lighthearted note, I can definitely imagine them developing pet names for each other. For Ilian, I could see him calling Astra "Sunshine." At first, it probably wouldn't sound affectionate at all. It would be more of a teasing nickname, maybe even a subtle jab at Astra's bright and charming public persona. Over time, though, I can imagine it gradually becoming more sincere without either of them openly acknowledging it. As for what Astra would call Ilian, I'm not entirely sure. "Thief" feels like the obvious answer, especially since that's what most puppets already call him. Still, I could see Astra eventually coming up with something more personal if he wanted to get under Ilian's skin— or get closer to him [whether Ilian would like these is another story].
