One more to add to what seems to be the ladies of Nintendo series :)) I wanted to try something out in terms of process so I figured this could be a good opportunity. Female protagonist from Pokemon Sword & Shield. Admittedly more edgy because of course. ...I mean, come on, she’s going to face giant sentient tea pots and cakes. Pokemon IP and characters are © Nintendo/ Game Freaks P.S: more open world would be nice~

Also, maybe a little shout out to the splatoon fans out there but I remembered that this was lying around in my files since April this year. Then work happened so, I admit I haven’t had the motivation to push this any further. Hey there m3mcakes! First of all, thanks so much for your kind and encouraging message! I can really see and appreciate the thought you put into conveying how you felt about those fun little moments I wanted to share with you all. And most of all, I’m very happy the idea and intent behind those fan works have been properly conveyed (and that you were able to “connect” with them) as well!Being able to share the mood and universe behind whatever spin I put on IPs...that’s the best part of it all, really!While I’m admittedly not a Splatoon exclusive fan (I’m enjoying some other games on the side and my own personal projects as well when I can), perhaps I might dive back into that world should there be a continuation to the games and the inspiration strikes ;)I’m using the opportunity that you’re giving me in the context of this reply to update everyone: As some of you might have noticed, I haven’t been active online for a good while since I’ve been going through a bit of a burnout and couldn’t find much energy to work on non-work related projects once I’m done with my tasks for the day.However I’ve just made plans to slowly ease myself back into the personal work routine and learn from my experience to put in place a more sustainable lifestyle from now on. To the people who have been following me so far, thanks a bunch for sticking around through it all!I might get back to uploading soon but I can’t promise it’ll be Splatoon related, we’ll see what gets me pumped in the moment!..that was one heck of a lengthy reply hahahaha!Cheers! 

The Legend of Zelda~ I keep thinking what if the Legend of Zelda was actually about Zelda sometimes TLOZ IP is © Nintendo UPDATE: Wow. That one was posted in May this year. And then there comes the reveal about BOTW 2! Did they successfully hint at this happening before or did we have the same idea? Well, we’ll never know. Anyway, I reworked it as both an excuse to get back into posting things for fun and I wasn’t okay with the previous version when I saw it again this month :)

Memories from The Burn (group selfie)

Went to the beach to kind of get outside a bit. Since I don’t bring a camera or phone outside, I couldn’t take a picture so I speedpainted from memory the strange sight that occurred today: the sea fog made it look like there was no clear separation between water and sky. It made it look like it was void washing on the shore. I stood there staring dumbfounded for more time than I can actually tell.

Now about the first one; it’s really awesome of you to offer that! I’m pretty much on a break at the moment but working on other personal projects that are keeping me pretty busy…so it would be very unfair of me to respond to your genuine motivation with a half-hearted involvement on my part. It would be quite unfair to you and you deserve to keep that fire in you alive by working on something that fulfills/rewards you!  However I am actually considering getting back to doing more 2D animation work sometime around January 2019.And you know what? You’ve given me an idea! While I may not exclusively work on this, I MIGHT just choose some shots from that animatic to animate and push to finished render among other short animation projects then!I hope this will make up for this year’s big downtime and works as a good enough response to your continued support!

Galactic Milkshake - Landscape/environment concept practice I wanted to challenge myself.

(and I appreciate your support!)Nothing you have said is wrong or weird at all!You guessed right, you could say there IS a lot of mixing going on here :)While only being one little drop of water in this huge ocean of artists and creators sharing that kind of mix nowadays (and the trend seems to be growing as we speak), it comes from my personal geographic experience. I had at first grown up with European and American cartoons (Don Bluth, Walt Disney, Tex Avery, Warner Brothers and so on, dotted with one Miyazaki -Porco Rosso- and one Takahata -Grave of the Fireflies- masterpiece but no more than that). However, I then actually had to move away from home and live for two/three years in Tokyo right as I entered junior high school.You can imagine that for someone who has been born and grew up in North Africa (Tunisia), it was a huge cultural change that has definitely left its mark on me both as a person and as an artist, even though I have been in a French educational system all the time.Ever since I went to live in Tokyo, I had grown more and more sensitive to Japanese animation, illustrations, manga and later on discovered that it was their games that I had been playing and enjoying the most ever since I was 5 years old (Super Mario Land on Gameboy). I won’t be able to make a list of everything and everyone (and it would be unfair for me to pick out a few from an insane amount of people I look up to) that/who inspire/s me now: it’s pretty much everything I see and clicks with me in life and sometimes things I don’t even realize. And now as I’m writing back this reply, I have pretty much already spent half of my life living away from my birth country, be it for studies then for work. So it’s become very hard for me to put conscious boundaries between cultures in the way I think and, therefore, in the way I draw. It’s all become a part of who I am hahahaha!I’m just very simple-mindedly (is that even a word) putting bits and pieces that my mind selectively processed back into the world in my own way.So basically, as I draw and animate, I just do what feels the best way to convey what needs to be conveyed.In a professional context, I also need to take into account what the client needs/wants and so I adjust the style accordingly while aiming for the best result.Now, when it’s personal work, I just do what feels fun to do, what I would like to see done/exist and also what rings the most true (basically, being “true” to yourself could sum it up?)I really hope this answers your question and I apologize if it’s a bit too vague/not specific enough.
