The taller of the two turned around, scowling the moment he saw her. “You’re joking. This had better be a big practical joke or I take back everything remotely close to good I’ve ever said about you.” Granted, that wasn’t much, but he had acknowledged that she wasn’t as terrible at her job as he’d first thought. A statement he was seriously reconsidering as he crouched to inspect her sprained ankle. “I should just leave you here- maybe shoot you in the head like a horse that can’t walk.”
She pressed the back of her hand to her forehead and turned away from him with a pout. “Oh Grant. You are so cruel to me. And in my last moments too. OH!” She flung herself onto the ground and draped her elbow over her eyes. Her ankle had depleted to nothing more than a dull ache now, but this was too much fun to pass up. “How tragic! That this is the way our partnership is to end.” She peeked up at him from under her arm with a slight smirk. “Id say ‘go on and live for me’ but I don’t think you’ll do me much justice with that flag pole stuck so far up your ass.”
