How is Karai not Karai?  Because she got mutated?  So because someone changes the way they look, they aren’t “themselves” anymore?  I really don’t get why you think this show’s misogynistic.  April is becoming a Kunoichi and handles her own just fine.  If you want to cite the times she was captured, don’t forget how many times the turtles saved each OTHER too.  Karai is independent, strong, and has the balls to stand up to Shredder.  If you want to say any female character in this show is pathetic to the point of hinted misogyny, that would be Irma.  She was obnoxious and pitiful and I’m glad she’s gone, tbh.  But as far as the other female characters go, just because they’ve been mutated at some point or have yet to make an actual appearance (i.e. April’s mom wasn’t even April’s mom so you can’t assume she’ll never actually show up in the story line as HERSELF), doesn’t mean the show is sexist.  

To actually lay out why this show is misogynistic is to re-write every single post I’ve ever made about the subject which, lemme tell you, would be like trying to re-write a 15 page paper lol I don’t think you wana sift through that but you’re welcome to try and look up my past posts on my blog about the subject.  But basically to sum it up: 2k12 is notorious for using misogynistic tropes and rape culture ideals which treat female characters as objects, plot devices, and deus ex machinas rather than as people. It also is shit when it comes to having representation for people of color but that’s a whole nother argument. The show at this current point in time as no human female characters. None.  And when asked why there was no sign of more female characters in sight, Ciro said something along of the line of because women are too hard to write.  Karai wasn’t Karai because A) she was (very predictably) Miwa and B) she was mutated.  Was she a strong female character? Yes. She was. Does that still count now that she’s been mutated? No.  Just like it doesn’t count that she’s Japanese. Just like it doesn’t count that Xever was black.  Once you mutate a character, you take away their sense of identity.  Karai had a lot of potential to be a very strong character but she was mutated like every other good character this series touches.  April isn’t a strong female character. She’s a trope. An outline of what the concept of a “strong female character” is. She doesn’t actually have the character development or the emotional depth to exist on her own as an independent being. If she did then yes, she would be a strong female character But as it stands now…she’s just an over-powered macguffin with the nondescript kraang-bestowed power of deus ex machina for casey and don to fight over.  And I don’t even think I should touch what you just said about Irma because….wow. That was all kinds of uncalled for. What they did to her character was completely undeserved and shows just how poorly this series thinks of females as characters. They’re objects to be thrown away as a convenient plot point rather than a person to be developed and treated well.  Irma’s character wasn’t obnoxious or pitiful. She was sassy, smart, and opinionated.   But women with genuine personalities aren’t allowed on this show apparently. And from the looks of it, neither are mothers.  Tang Chen? Nope. Casey’s Mom? Nope. April’s Mom? Nope.  Ever seen April’s Aunt that she stayed with? lol neither have I.  so what i’m getting at here is that these occurrences seem to happen too frequently in the show to be overlooked and written off. they’re toxic and play to the misogynistic ideal of women being nothing more than an object or a prize to be won or sexualized or stalked or sacrificed for man-pain motivation.  And the women of tmnt deserve better than that. All women deserve better than that. And i’m tired of their characters being shortchanged out of laziness and ingrained societal misogyny.

Are you freaking kidding me!?!?! The old plot for Irma was WAY better then this one! That means the rumors were true and the fans were right and that means not only Irma probably would of been with the turtles by now (Finally being another main female character in the group as well as April), but there would of been some MikeyxIrma shipping! Irma would of still been here if it wasn’t for stupid people saying that they wanted Irma to be a stupid Kraang sub prime (WTH!?!?!). I really hope Irma was just captured by the Kraang, I want her back so much.

I know, right?! I mean, even if I found so cute the MikeyxIrma ship, I would have loved that Mikey had a new friend to talk to. And April need some female friends, she’s surrounded by boys and… Well, even it happened to me; girls usually need to have time with other girls! Not to mention that April needs Irma as the second friend from her normal life.
