Plussyu 2016 Fall & Winter

This design is from the detail suggestion in my this picture.With this design, I decided the fabric after the design( I usually choose the fabric first before I design), but I think features of fabric and design match well.The design naturally came to my mind when I chose and found this fabric.

I like flower prints and motifs. Thus, I have decided to suggest a piece using flower. This piece expresses a flower and I created it to portray the soft roundness of a flower and the way it sways.

This is a classic jacket. I created a long-length jacket in my last portfolio, so I decided to create a compact one.The big silhouette is popular now, however, I want to wear both compact and big silhouettes.

 I used a firm cotton fabric to create a masculine figure. The jacket has a constructive shape, using both shoulder pads and sleeve wadding. My recommendation is to match this with a mauve colored shirt and a high-cut boot in the autumn.

This fabric has hard and stiff features. So I wanted to create a design that has volume but with few seams.The focus of this design is the back body’s gather. This expresses the characteristic of the fabric. By making a simple front body, the design possesses many expressions.I paid attention to the volume of the back body’s gather, the way the fabric sags, and the collar’s tack volume and directions.

When I made this pattern, I paid attention to the entire volume of the clothes.Short-lengthed designs with volume tend to have an imbalance, but I solved this issue by using a shoulder yoke and plain wool fabric. As a result, it saves the volume around the shoulder and back,thus,toning down on the overall silhouette

When I found this fabric, I wanted to used its raw characteristics to create a “chic & casual” design.I paid attention to the jacket’s flare volume, level of waist shape, and shape volume. In addition, I also paid attention to the length balance and number of panels due to its short-length. Finally, I focused on the total balance of the jacket and skirt. I added a interlining cloth to clearly emphasize the jacket’s flare.

This fabric has a bumpy surface and slightly thick and stiff. The expression is very interesting.I think this fabric can display its features better and more dynamically by giving it a larger surface.So I decide to use a simple design and express the stiffness of the fabric.For the upper body, I narrowed the shoulders and fitted the chest tightly. For the lower body, I created a three dimensional darts to create some volume,resulting in a distinct contrast with the upper body and emphasis on the lower body.The sleeve openings widen to express the fabric’s characteristic when seen from the side.

The jacquard is made in Italy. I’ve expressed the most modern style by using high quality fabric in a casual design. The characteristics of this design are a simple front body and a full back body. I’ve focused on the back body silhouette as the theme of my portfolio is “the view from the side.” In addition, I’ve added some wadding to emphasize the round softness of the jacquard.
