This is something im gonna touch upon in the new version of the au. They have their own language but for mers to learn it they have to be socialised among each other much like humans. Sign language is something that they can learn but they learn it for humans. There are sounds that every merperson should understand regardless if they speak the language of the mers (like chirping, trilling, whining) similar to how humans understand laughing across different cultures.

Great question! I took it down because to be honest it got hard for me to write. I kept running short on ideas and walking myself into a corner. It was really frustrating and I lost the passion for it.

A while back I decided to rewrite it, meaning that while some things stay the same (tim and braxton being mers) while others change. For example I’m changing the type of fish mer Tim is based off but Braxton is still having his tentacles because I am attached to the idea of tentacle porn lol.

Kenny: What?? (him thinking the Simplex finally fried Braxton's brain) Mei Mei: Congratulations, let's go shopping for baby stuff. 🫪 (Trying to be positive, but freaking out inside)
