[OOC: Actor in images is Lucy Liu.]
Here’s what I did for the @spreadthe-artchallenge “1 actor, 7 emotions” prompt! I picked still screencaps as my medium, and Thuse Tuac as my actor!
Stills are from, (in order!): Visiting Greentown, The Tapai Contingency, Quarantine, It’s Only Business, The Power of Doubt, A Fantastical Thought, and One Last Fight In Me!
And as long as I’m making a post, I’ll give a quick rundown of each!
Visiting Greentown is about a newly four green who has, until the events of the movie, lived in farmcountry with their livestock researcher parents! It’s a story of how they learn, for the first time, what its like to be totally immersed in their own caste’s culture, while at the same time realizing they should value the unique perspective they gained from a childhood spent with their ~purple friends~!
The Tapai Contingency is an international law drama! Saying anything more about it would be kind of ~spoilers~ for everything past the first third of the movie!
Quarantine is a ~chilling~ story about ground zero of a new disease outbreak! It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! I don’t recommend watching this one ~late at night~, because you won’t want to sleep right after watching it! But I ~do recommend watching it~!
So, if you like intrigue, watch It’s Only Business! Our main character is a high-powered buisnesspurple who’s business partner ~betrays their trust~ and wipes out their finances the ~winter before they were going to purchase their second child~! If you like underhanded machinations, dueling business politics, and conspiracies, you will like this!
I’ve heard The Power of Doubt was a book series first! But I’ve also heard that the movie ~isn’t very accurate to the book~! Apparently they added a lot of outright violence to make it play better on screen? The movie itself is okay, as long as you don’t mind suspending your disbelief during the action scenes! (I don’t think they’re going to end up making that sequel though!) But I have heard really good things about the book series! So, I have The Contention Trilogy ~on my reading list~!
I included A Fantastical Thought because Thuse Tuac’s acting was ~really good~, for the script she was given! But, I don’t really like the story itself? It seemingly manages to get ~every insulting stereotype~ about badbrains greens all in one single movie! If that’s not a thing that bothers you at all, it was otherwise filled with really good acting! (But, I’m usually able to push through, and this one was a ~bit much~ for me!)
And, One Last Fight In Me is a standard, but well executed, sports drama! The main character’s child is the victim of scam, and though the criminal is ~swiftly executed~, they find themselves ~unable to buy the child they were anticipating~! So, our main character, a newly retired champion, resolves to enter the ring one last time! If they win, the prize money will be enough to make up for what their child lost! And so, we ask! Will our main character have ~one last fight in them~?
And my ~completely voluntary and in no way any pressure~ seven tags are @factorfactorial, @steel-and-toe, @nighttime-wings-all-the-time, @purplenalafe, @blossoming-camellia, @meeniemeeniefogreenie, @bright-like-the-sun, and @eightbladesofissida!
