DESCRIBE THEIR VOICE, WHAT KIND OF ACCENT DO THEY HAVE? adam’s voice is generally deep and british—that known received pronunciation, the kind that can make you stop what you’re doing just so you can make sure of the actual words he is saying instead of paying attention to his voice. speaking mostly in his matter-of-fact tone, he always sounds completely certain of whatever he is talking about: you can believe him because you can see he knows what he is talking about (which can make people uncomfortable sometimes). it can be quite distractive, especially when listening to him reading a book or reciting poetry… it can be too much: his voice changes depending on the tone of the poem or the character he is reading about. his voice turns quite husky when he is being full of himself or sarcastic—which can be both attractive and annoying, you choose. his parisian accent in french makes him seem even more of a snob and a little deeper in a few aspects. in german, he sounds… modulate and soft—which is surprising: can anyone sound soft in german? well, adam can. no one ever heard him actually speaking greek (though he’s been seen reading books and translating stuff several times), so this one needs to be confirmed on how he sounds (but probably all the same way as already described). rumors that belle actually wrote an essay about his voice. SCENT: that scent of rich people is definitely my top definition for this, as he spends too much time in his hotel and the place smells rich and fancy. but in the most common sense of scents, adam likes woody and fresh colognes and after shave balm the most (even though no one ever sees his face bare) and may vary sometimes. his breath usually smells like mint, due his favorite tea, or chocolate. POSTURE: straight and confident posture while working, he always looks extremely professional when seen around the hotel, walking calmly around and never in a rush. there was a time his shoulders were down a lot, during his teen years, which seemed like he almost tried to make himself go around unnoticed, but that’s far from a problem nowadays—though he doesn’t like to be recognized or noticed (not all the time), he doesn’t try to hide. his posture may change quite a lot when he is comfortable, though, looking much more casual, leaning against walls and things while talking, tilting his head down if the person is shorter than him, and looking much more approachable—however, for someone to get to see this side of him, they had already overcome the over confident and snobby attitude, that is his visit card and first impression.

WHAT CAN YOU FIND IN THEIR POCKETS/WALLET: iphone and car keys in his pockets. in his wallet, documents, money, credit cards, an old picture of him with his parents, a large golden ring (a gift and counterpart to the ring he gave to belle when they dated). WHAT IS THEIR IDEA OF PERFECT HAPPINESS? to recognize his flaws and be understood, even by himself, and be taught and helped on how to ease them. he was perfectly happy once and knows how it feels, but he’s been getting back to his grumpy and not very secure self as time passes and that past seems too far and unreachable. WHAT OR WHO IS THE GREATEST LOVE OF THEIR LIFE? platonically, his mother’s private library and poetry books. romantically… i don’t think there’s any doubt it’s belle—no one ever took her place and, kind unconsciously, he still waits for her to “come back” to his life. ON WHAT OCCASIONS DO THEY LIE? when he doesn’t want to talk about his feelings. he is a terrible liar, though, so it may be obvious and easy to find out if the person knows him too well. at the same time, if they do know him too well, it’s normal and expected that they will pretend to believe in him—as he usually does it when he is starting to feel bad or angry, or having a breakdown, which he is always ashamed of.

WHAT HAPPENED? yes. he took care of his mother through most of her time in the hospital. though he was part of a boarding school, he constantly left after class to spend the rest of the day and night with the woman, and wouldn’t be hard to see him curled in the armchair beside the bed every morning. by the end of her days, when she was in a coma, he would easily just skip class and stay there constantly, holding her hand.

however, her family did bother about such a thing and, when she came of age, they announced she was to have her marriage arranged by them, who already had some candidates. marrying her to a french or a german man was always the plan, as they would like to remain attached to their culture, wishing that their descendants had the same (or at least one of them).

being promised to françois de thibault, irene—still a bit unsure of how this was going to be—decided that it would be for the best if she studied in france, close to her fiancé, so they could get to know each other. if they were to spend their lives together, she would like to know who she was marrying to. it was a good surprise to know he was a gentleman. even commited to expand the hotel empire his father created, the man gave her his full attention: always with her whenever they had time, not sparing any money when it came to take her out, either for a date or for a small casual travel to another european country, being kind and treating her like a queen, like they were meant to be together.

and, perhaps, they were. it’s no lie to say both francis and irene fell in love with each other during those years of meeting one another and, by the time their wedding happened, it seemed like they were living in a fairy tale. which only got better when adam was born, two years later.

her son was her everything; even being offered to have someone to take care or feed the boy, irene would gently dismiss them, wanting to do it herself, grow more attached to her son, whose eyes were as blue as hers, and hair just slightly darker. she read to him every night, even when he was just a baby—and that became a habit as he grew up, always hoping she would read to him.

irene would proudly say she raised one of the kindest young men, taught him to treat others gently, to always listen and understand before judging, to treat his father with respect. but she didn’t live long enough to see what her death would cause to both loves of her life.

adam was the one who spent more time with her in the hospital, during her final days. a whole year in a hospital bed, after the diagnost. a whole year of her teenage son stopping by with one of her books to read to her, and smile and say she would be ok—she had to, right?—even though both knew the truth. her last two weeks were spent in a coma and, still, her son would be there, until the very end when he had to be dragged out of the room by his father.
