Guerin was a bit surprised when the extremely attractive redhead approached him and ask him to be her guide. He hadn’t seen her around town before, so it was no wonder she would ask him over anyone else. “I uh.. I don’t actually get out much. But, I can definitely show you a few local hot spots” he smiled. Work had kept him so busy lately, he had rarely been seen out during the day. But, he was definitely glad he was in the right place at the right time today.

Chanel began to twirl her hair. “I’m down for that, you seem like you’d be a great tour guide.” she grinned softly. Although she had been a resident of Dayton for seventeen years and possibly knew the town better than a lot of people, it was nice to walk around to refresh her mind, and see the town in a new light now that she was a lot older. Guerin caught Chanel’s attention quick, and she was looking forward to getting to know him.

“I’m more of a coffee girl, but I can definitely get down on some tea” she laughed softly as she scrunched up her nose. “Nice, I love New York. I’m always excited to book stuff there” running her fingers through her hair she’s nodded her head. Smirking she walked into the coffee shop and hummed at the scent running through her nose. “Well, maybe you’ll figure out why your here someday soon.” She looked at the menu trying to decide what she wanted. Jaycee ordered a caramel macchiato iced for them both and tipped the guy to have them bring it to their table. “This place is so cozy, I love it” she smiled softly.

“Coffee is great, it just has to be iced.” Chanel giggled, admiring her surroundings. It felt nice to take it all in, being back in Dayton, making new friends, and excited to reconnect with old ones. She was starting to feel at home every second she breathed the fresh Dayton air in. Chanel nodded although she really had no answer, she had no regrets either. “Iced caramel macchiato, I knew we’d like the same thing.” she chuckled. “Hey next time I’m treating you, that was sweet thank you.” Chanel smiled. “It’s adorable, when I was younger I always wanted to have my own little coffee shop/tea spot. With live poetry, karaoke, and everybody snaps instead of claps.” 

“Hey, you know what they say over at the bars. Alcohol makes men braver and women looser; or so the bartender says.” Gabe pointed out. He had no rhyme or reason to believe that point, but if anything, he was an expert at beer, whiskey and all sorts of alcoholic drinks – considering that his other vice was always been drinking. He drank to forget the horrors of the war, and fortunately he could say for certain that he was never too consumed into drinking a lot; knowing the aftereffects of too much booze in the system. He said nothing as the redhead went to the houseboat and sat down outside at one of the deck chairs that he had placed there, as she watched him carefully, saying that she was in a celebratory mood and that she wanted to start drinking the champagne. Again, Gabe chuckled at the irony of letting a relative female stranger into his houseboat; even if he had no issue with it. “Well, I’m still working out.” He replied, as he kept on punching the bag. “But what are you celebrating, then? It’s a good drink to get celebratory a little bit there.” He pointed out.

“I think I’m a little bit of both when I’m drunk, I definitely gain some courage I didn’t have before. I guess that’s why it’s called liquid courage.” she replied. Chanel definitely has had her fair share of drunken experiences where she just didn’t care contrary to her sober. She felt so much more human when she was drunk because there was no fear to stop her from getting what she wanted. If she wanted to dance with a man who was taken by another woman she would, if she wanted to simply dance on her own in a crowd full of people she would do that too. Her fear of how she came off to people wasn’t a thing when she was intoxicated. “Oh you can continue punching your toy, I’m already crisping pretty nicely here.” she joked. “You don’t have to be celebrating anything to feel celebratory, I just like champagne.” she mentioned, tossing her hair over her shoulder.

townes looked up from her spot at the table, met with a girl with probably the most stunningly red hair she’d ever seen. “no,” she shook her head, “all yours,” she added with a small smile. her eyes trailed down to the book she had in her hands, and townes straightened up a bit in her chair. “interested in the power of the stars?” she asked, having her fair share of experience with astrology — days and months and years of boredom adding up, studying the stars as a child. 

“Thanks” Chanel smiled plopping down on the chair. Chanel looked back at the book cover and nodded her head. “Yeah, I went to this astrologist, psychic type of thing and I really didn’t understand most of it or believe it much either.” she admitted. “But she told me some pretty accurate details and that kind of freaked me out, so I figured I’d do some digging on the signs.” she shrugged. She didn’t really believe a person’s characteristics could be based on the position of the moon and stars the night they were born, but she remembered to always have an open mind. “I love your glasses by the way, very chic.” she complimented.

“I can say that same to you,” a smirk pulling at her lips. “I mean, I’m a little too sober to talk about that stuff, but I would still be down,” she replied with a smile. But that smile faltered a little with the nickname; she was not a fan of them and even someone as attractive as Chanel wasn’t going to change that. “I’d prefer not, nicknames aren’t my thing.”

“Do you smoke?” she inquired. The redhead thought back to her first time and probably the only time she ever smoked the devil’s lettuce. The conversations that followed after two hits off her first ever joint really expanded her mind about the world. She wasn’t a smoker, but she did agree the conversations weren’t as stimulating while sober. Chanel now noticed Shane’s smile fade and she felt kinda bad, “Sorry, if that upset you, I uh get comfortable too fast I guess.”

“i’m fully offended by that.” who didn’t like cherries?! evie was stunned, maybe this chick was crazier than she was, “no way i’m getting full off six nuggs. we can split a 60 piece. and waffle fries but you have to eat all the squishy ones because those make me gag. ”

Chanel chuckled she couldn’t help but feel revolted by cherries. The redhead clapped excited. “Yes, see that’ll do.” her face lit up with a smile. “Okay what kind of human are you, the squishy ones are definitely the best, dipped in all that chick-fil-a sauce. It’s truly remarkable.” she nodded, her mouth watering due to the conversation of food. “Come on!”

“Must be something in their generation.” He chuckled softly before shrugging a bit. “It’s okay and trusts me, I get it. One day I got so damn wasted, I ended up telling the bartender my entire life story, starting from my mom leaving and my dad hating me still trying to kick me out of the family company.” Mickey gave her a smile. “That pizza place should be like right here.” HE told her, realizing as they were talking they had walked pretty far.

Chanel couldn’t help but laugh. “They’re just an example of the kind of parent I don’t want to be.” she stated. Eliyah chuckled she felt like she had made a friend, a great friend and it made her happy. “Why is that honestly me? Every time I tell a bartender my whole life story drunk, I’m always so embarrassed I never go back to that bar. Seriously by the end of the year I ran out of bars I could go to.” she laughed reliving the moments she opened up to a bartended about her history with her father. “Wow! We almost missed it, we were deep in the convo, I love it.” She opened the door to the pizza place and Chanel’s face lit up, the smell of pizza, the scenery it was as if she remembered it and it brought her so much joy.

It was amusing to say the least about the whole statement the redhead was giving; that he was already quite used to the fact that women show up at his place unannounced. Gabe was always quick to acclimatize to every new thing that came up to his doorstep and women showing up wanting to know who the new large man was, was something he gotten used to quite quickly in the first place. That, and the fact that the women coming up to his place unannounced was partly because of his propensity to show up. Scotty’s party proved that in Gabe’s mind. He watched the redhead disappear into the shop and reappear a moment later, as she walked up to him, this time Gabe getting a good look at the redhead as she handed him his package. “Oh, don’t you know it that this is poison.” He mused. “Bartenders would say that alcohols can both be poison and cure for the right person in front of a bar, so you’re not off the mark there.” He said, as he placed the bag of bottles down to get a good eyeful on the woman. Red hair, that was already good off the mark; lush lips; a shapely figure. She ticked the right boxes for him. “And I guess the guy in the shop gave you that bottle of champagne for free?”

As Chanel got a closer look of Gabe she could tell he was everything she’d been looking for in a great one night stand. Funny, muscular, and if the rumors were true then a huge penis. Chanel was never one to approach men first or anyone first, but her pretty girl privilege always meant she could get men just by looking at them. It was truly a first for her to shoot her shot, and so far she hadn’t regretted it. Her beach day ended up getting drunk on some random hot guy’s houseboat, and she couldn’t wait to see where the day would take them. “Hmm..” Chanel thought. “Mostly poison that just makes you wanna dance, and fuck. So I guess that really can be a cure.” she chuckled running her fingers through her hair. She noticed his eyes on her and that was a quick confident booster for Chanel, she loved being check out by guys she was attracted to, it was a pretty huge turn on for her. “Yeah, it was a gift.” She answered. “I was thinking we can maybe start with that, I’m feeling celebratory today.” She made her way onto the boat and took the first seat she can find, reaching for a pair of sunglasses from her bag and analyzing Gabe’s every move.”

Finding herself giggling at how charismatic, Chanel was. It was definitely refreshing and she already adored the girl. “Coffee is heaven in itself” she joked as she walked with the girl towards the little coffee shop. “Thank you, but I still like yours even if you don’t. Mine is so southern it isn’t even funny. Jaycee Beau Lynd” snorting in laughter. She was simply a southern girl, living the California dream. “So What brings you to Dayton?” She asked her curiously. Walking up to the cute little coffee shop everyone loves she held out her hand. “The best coffee you’ll get here” she assured her as she held the door open for her.

Chanel definitely already felt connected to Jaycee, she had yet to meet someone who can brighten her day and potentially earn the ‘bff’ title. “Coffee is exceptional” Chanel agreed. “But tea? No competition there.” she chuckled. She felt Jaycee’s positivity and uplifting spirits surround her and just felt more at home in Dayton. “ I absolutely love the creativity, and your initials. J.B.L? Just J.B is already legendary.” she complimented laughing along with her. “Well, I lived here until I was 17, and then moved half way across the country to Miami, Florida. Then New York, and I just decided to come back home. I don’t know, I’m still trying to answer that question myself.” The red head chuckled. “Thank you babes, I’m excited, I’ll get whatever you’re having I’m not picky and I’m sure we already have the same tastes.” She smiled. 

“That’s why I am here in Dayton and he’s far away, in Flordia or something.” Mickey replied, shaking his head. “My mom left when I was really young, so I am sure part of him still blames me for that. Which, I don’t see how. I mean, when you cheat on someone, more than likely they are going to leave. It is just obvious.”

“What’s up with all these terrible cheating dads in Florida? No offense to all the great ones who take their spoiled kids to Disney once a week but..” Chanel sighed shaking her head with the memory of her stepdad David. “Sorry, I just don’t understand how men cheat on their wives and kids? My dad cheated on my mom, my stepdad cheats on my mom too, love is just dead.” She had been rambling so much she didn’t realize she was opening up to a guy she had just met. “I’m sorry, I just get way to into these topics of conversation.” she chuckled trying to lighten the mood.

“well, i’m not looking for friends but you’re lucky i’m hungry.” she crossed her arms, trying to fight a smile. “only if you give me the cherry off your shake.”

Chanel laughed, she knew her ability to make friends was poor but somehow when food or alcohol were brought into the mix she nearly always had a 100% success rate. Bonus if she offered to pay. “Oh you can have it, contrary to popular belief, cherries just suck.” she shook her head quickly trying to get her mind off the taste of cherries. “Can we share a 12 piece of chicken nuggets, there is nothing I would love more.” She expressed enthusiastically.

Gabe had to laugh lightly at the rather amusing comment that she threw his way, as he stopped punching the bag and looked back at the woman with the red hair. Rarely would someone have to actually give out invitations to Gabe’s houseboat in a sense; most of the time women would come over unannounced and without any sort of invite or pass to come in, so someone like the redhead would be a little bit of a breath of fresh air, and not many women, young or old, had that kind of feeling in the town, as far as Gabe could see anyways. Redheads, now, that was another rarity that he had not seen in common. “What?” He called back. “You wanted an invite? I thought girls around Dayton never needed an invite to come over to my houseboat!” He said with a laugh. “Come on in if you like. Oh, and while you’re at it, can you stop by that liquor shop and get my order of alcohol? Tell them it’s from that guy in that houseboat, they know.”

Chanel bit her lip, she was truly amused by Gabe and kind of turned on at the same time. She was never the one to take orders from men but there was something about Gabe. She wanted to fulfill his requests. As soon as he kept talking it all clicked in her head. He was the man every woman was talking about. The man with the houseboat and the huge package. Chanel was immediately turned on at the fantasies reoccurring in her head. “Don’t know what I find more unsettling the fact that women show up unannounced to your place, or the fact that you think that’s the norm.” she laughed. “A liquor store regular?” she made a mental note of that. Chanel grabbed her gear and headed towards the nearest liquor store. Luckily the person running the liquor store at the time was one of her old buddies from high school, they made some small talk and eventually gave Chanel the bottles for free. Chanel headed back towards Gabe’s houseboat with his liquor order and her favorite bottle of champagne. “I’m back, and I come bearing poison, just kidding, not.” she giggled.

Mickey wasn’t sure why he was sharing all of this information but he guessed it was about time he spoke to someone about the arguments and his fighting with his father. As he listened to her, he felt bad for her because he got where she was coming from. Father’s cause nothing but grief and heartbreak, at least that was how it seemed for him. “That is true.” He agreed before nodding. “Yes, he is. We always argue, but we’ve been fighting so much lately, ever since I came out to him.”

Chanel rolled her eyes. The idea of homophobia in the year 2019 really grinded her gears. Homophobia itself was just idiotic in her opinion, how can someone be shamed for who they love? She constantly thought to herself. Chanel sucked her teeth and shook her head. “Usually I’d be that friend that encourages you to talk to your parents and fix ongoing issues with them because having a family like mine honestly sucks but I don’t see any point in wasting your time dealing with this toxicity.” The topic really boiled her blood because it brought her memories of her step father and how homophobic he come off as.
