Fanfics are Awesome

Okay, I'm seeing a lot of 'Caine figures out how to de-abstract characters' fics. And...I don't think it works.

According to Caine's VA: he imagines abstraction more akin to a mental spiral/breakdown/addiction than to suicide. The program isn't designed to handle that level of emotional breakdown so the result is abstraction.

You can't force someone to get better, physically or emotionally. They need time and patience and to put in the work themselves. You can be there for them, but they have to heal on their own time. If Caine (theoretically) did have the power to do that, I think it would just hurt them more and cause long term damage.

The characters visiting the aquarium, talking to them, being there with them...I think that's the key to any de-abstractions. Not forcing anything. Just being there with them, even if they can't respond. I think the abstractions have a much better chance of recovery now than they did in the basement, but they still need time. Jax needs time. They need to de-abstract on their own.
