Pavo Textiles Fall Release of Shibori

I have had the pleasure of hosting this amazing wrap from pavotextiles for several months now.  I can not adequately express my love for it, but I am going to try. 

When I first opened the package I was struck by the beauty of the weave. It is truly unique and not something I had seen in a woven wrap before.  The warp is a fairly flat and compressed buttermilk cream color with caramel colored weft threads that flow in and out along the warp giving a cacophony of visual interest.  Like buttermilk pancakes with caramel syrup.   #YUM The warp shines like it has silk, but is easy to care for and can take a beating.

I quickly tore the wrap out of the canvas tote it came in and to my surprise found it to be paper thin and dense.  I was confused.  It looked so fluffy to the eyes.  It reminds me of a thin Parterre but has a drape that Parterre could only dream of.  In loom state, this wrap will make you wonder how you could ever wear it.  How it could ever be comfortable.  My gut reaction was to write to ladies behind Pavo and say “No.  What were you thinking?  I do not approve!”  Never fear, my friends.  Wash your new friend, put him on the couch, love him, and just wait.  The difference between then and now is astounding.  In just a few short weeks, Shibori, or Jembori as it is affectionately called, has become floppy and amazing. 

This paper thin, dense woven thing of beauty wraps like nothing I’ve wrapped with before.  I want to tell you “it is like XYZ”, but I can’t.  It feels like Parterre in hand, but it is not hard on your shoulders.  You wrap your baby and you wonder “How do I feel so much cush on my shoulder?  Where did this fluffy feeling come from?”  The ever so slightly grippy weave makes a carry that doesn’t budge.  You know you can take this wrap on a hike and you won’t be readjusting every hundred feet.  You also know that when you are wearing in the heat, the nature of the weave will help you feel cool and airy.

You know that this wrap wants to come home with you.  You know that pavotextiles has created something special in this wrap.
