Personally, I feel as though my heart has been chewed up like gum. But every pain brings valuable lessons. Let this pain fill us with courage when we feel weak. Let it make us question whether the information we are being given is true.

Suzanne Collins is a genius. Through these pages, she showed us that the narrative is controlled by those who hold power. When Haymitch refused to be controlled, he lost everything dear to him. But nothing that can be taken from you is ever worth keeping. It wasn’t easy,he was destroyed (and now we know how destroyed he was), but he kept going. He tried to forget, but it was through remembering that he was able to fulfill his promise. Let us not forget that, after all that hell, he was able to keep going.

Now, it’s our turn. Let’s be brave enough to ask ourselves if we are letting ourselves be controlled by accepting the narrative.
