green hues flickered with amusement as his attempt of prolonging this conversation , hand putting a lock of spun gold behind her star - shaped diamond adorned ear . “ i believe my mother and all those lovely women that keep her company would agree with that assessment, ” flora sassed , the tiniest hint of a smile decorating delicate features . any trace of earlier nerves appeared gone , washed away by the influence of alcohol , which she had heartily partaken . events like these were her playground , paraded by her parents since a young age — everyone knew her , and she sat in their laps as toddler . while his appearance did not reveal his unacquaintance , the levels of discomfort radiating from his presence did . however , it was rare to find someone similar to herself , trained to spot exploitative weaknesses from a mile away , so he was safe . “ that makes two of us though i’ve been here two days longer. ” playful recognition dawned on her face , leaning a bit closer to his body . “ imagine if this party was for all the new citizens in town, ” flora whispered , in her silvery voice , into his ear . pulling back as she finished her words , corner of her mouth quirked up .
"I SUPPOSE I'm joining in today for a change," he adds, thin lipped smile accompanying his words. He's a bit of a lightweight given all the alcohol he usually consumes is a bottle of beer every now and then whenever he finds a good show on netflix. He doesn't realize it all too much yet though, just simply more at ease when making conversation. He's just glad he didn't get here by car, especially in the still unfamiliar neighborhood but getting home was something he didn't have to worry about just yet. "That's two days on me. You're basically a old resident compared," he jokes despite knowing that she probably feels nowhere better than he does. However, she probably knows where the grocery shop is - something he should get to asking sometime soon actually. He GULPS at the sudden proximity of her, eyes darting from the ground towards her when she moves back to her original position. "They didn't invite us for no reason, I'm sure but I doubt they're that nice to newcomers." But maybe he's just being pessimistic.
