“In September 2008, Malalai Kakar was assassinated by the Taliban in Kandahar. A target for years she was shot dead in front of her home. Malalai was the first female police officer in Kandahar since the ousting of the Taliban in 2001. Among her many distinguishing features, the pistol beneath the burka was one of the most notable.  Malalai helped countless women in one of the most dangerous provinces in Afghanistan. She risked every day for what she believed in and for that she paid with her life. She was a mother of six and a sister to many.”

Not sure this qualifies, but this is the only probable picture of Kate Warne, the first female detective. Not only was she the first detective, but she even went on to save the life of president elect Abraham Lincoln after uncovering a plot to assassinate him on the way to Washington D.C. to take office. She was best known for being a master of disguise, able to switch from Union soldier, to Southern debutante, to a harmless grandmother.

The early singles are classics, but I find the B.K. that put out cuts like “False Start,” from the first side of Reject All American—the side that proved Bikini Kill could be just as deadly at half volume.
