Similar to Halloween, Öskudagur (Ash Wednesday) is an Icelandic holiday where children dress up and sing for candy. Monday was Bolludagur (bun day), when you eat as many cream filled buns as you can and Tuesday was Sprengidagur (bursting day), when you stuff yourself with as much salted lamb and pea soup as you can.
