There are quite a few things I wish we kept from the Danny Phantom Pitch Bible, but one I really would've loved to see was their original idea that Sam wore baggy clothes to hide her good looks. Especially because her final design is anything but baggy.
Because that is actually such a realistic representation of a teenage girl and her insecurities!
It is very common for girls Sam's age to feel uncomfortable in their own bodies as they start to change. Many girls feel especially awkward when their bodies start to develop because, quite sadly, it can bring the wrong kind of attention.
Nobody likes some dumb teenage boy making lewd comments about their breats, let's be honest.
Personally, I used to wear nothing but hoodies, jeans, and the like when I was a teen because I felt so awkward in everything else until I first started finding my own style. And I think that's something Sam could have gone through as well. Especially when the guys at Casper High were often shown being not quite as gentlemanly as their mothers would like, even Danny and (especially) Tucker.
I once talked to @ghoulishautism through reblogs about how a possible character arc for Sam could have been that, instead of starting out as a goth, she'd at first struggle to find her own style until dwelling in the paranormal and all the ghost fighting encouraged her to embrace her dark side and eventually go alernative.
The same could have happened if they kept their idea that Sam wears baggy clothes on purpose.
At first, she tries to bring as little attention to herself as possible, but as time goes by and she gains confidence through ghost fighting, a newfound a passion for the occult, and new experiences, little by little she starts shedding all those literal and metaphorical layers and becomes a little bolder as she navigates the goth subculture and fashion and finds herself in the process.
Also, as much as I love Sam's different designs throughout the show, it would make much more sense if the reason she suddenly gained a more defined figure whenever she changes outfits were because she hides those curves in the first place. As it is in canon, she goes from noodle person to teenage bombshell as abruptly as Danny goes ghost.
You'd think she's the one who can transform...
