hell yeah, you don’t have to ask me twice!!

teru has bad anxiety and is prone to panic attacks, and since he’s lived alone for awhile, he usually dealt with them by himself. now whenever he feels one coming on, he calls reigen and reigen talks him back down to earth (i actually wrote a fic about this! it’s here on my blog and on ao3!)

reigen has a strained relationship with his parents, so he has a soft spot for teru, who also has estranged parents. being alone for so long, teru has a hard time connecting to people, but he found a family in reigen, serizawa, dimple, and the other esper kids. reigen’s in the same boat, so he eventually sits teru down and tells him that it’s okay if he considers the spirits and such crew more like family than his own parents

“you’re always allowed to choose your family, teru.”

reigen disapproves of teru’s torture methods and only allows him to do it when it’s absolutely necessary

reigen knows all about teru’s crush on mob bc like. the kid’s super obvious lol. but reigen doesn’t say anything until teru finally musters up the courage to confide in him and he has to pretend to be shocked

but he still assures teru that mob feels the same way bc mob is just as obvious and flustered whenever he gets a crush, like have you seen how he is around tsubomi??

reigen’s like “you should see the look on his face whenever he talks about you,” and teru just. melts

people have asked teru what his dad does for a living and he’s caught himself accidentally saying “he exorcises ghosts” instead of. ya know. “my dad works overseas” lmao

reigen’s actually tried working out with teru before, because he knows how ripped the kid is and reigen wants to stay in shape

“come on reigen-san! you can lift more than that, right?” and reigen is just. struggling to lift two 15lb weights and pleading for death (he doesn’t exercise with teru anymore)

he also knows how big teru’s appetite is so whenever he takes him out for ramen after a job, reigen makes sure to bring extra money

i have a hc that teru loves lava lamps. one day reigen overheard teru telling mob how much he loved them, so reigen bought him one for his birthday and teru damn near cried

speaking of teru’s birthday: ever since moving out, he basically spent it alone. on his first birthday since meeting reigen, he intends to do the same but reigen is not having it. reigen knows first-hand how lonely birthdays can be, so he bends over backwards to make sure teru has a huge party surrounded by all his friends every single year

reigen’s favorite type of movie is B-movies, and teru’s favorite movie of all time is a vintage film called “flying dead pig”, which is a shlocky B-movie if i ever heard one. conclusion? reigen and teru are both huge B-movie nerds and have regular movie nights along with serizawa and mob just watching shitty horror movies (in fact, i’m almost finished writing a fic about this very topic! i’m hoping to get it published by tonight or tomorrow here on tumblr and ao3 so keep an eye out!!)

Teru having secondhand embarrassment for how enthusiastic Reigen cheers him in his soccer games but it warms his heart when Reigen keeps going how proud he’s even when they lose.

Reigen making sure in PTA meetings who’s dad he is, with unnecessary comments like “Yes, my son, Teru. You know the honor student one, yes he’s also great in soccer, surely you know him he’s quite handsome…”

About PTA meetings, he definitely uses that opportunity to give all the mothers coupons just “in case your child is being possessed by a lazy spirit”

If they go to him, he finds the student’s learning style and creates a healthy study routine to exorcize them

REIGEN TELLING EVERYONE HOW LUCKY TERU IS FOR INHERITING HIS GOOD LOOKS. Despite being adopted

The legal process to emancipate Teru is hurtful, because Teru has to realize how his parents don’t actually care for him and despite how hard Reigen tries to don’t get him too involved, his presence is required.

Teru deals with it refusing to acknowledge the issue and overcompensating with a happy facade. But at 3 am when all his defenses are low, sitting beside Reigen, both with insomnia and half eaten cereal, he ask him how he’s feeling in such a caring and non invasive way that everything crumbles and talks about the loneliness, the anger, the emptiness and abandonment issues. He keeps going because despite feeling the most vulnerable is his life when he looks at Reigen’s face there is no pity nor confusion, there’s empathy and honest worry with a bit of controlled rage that he knows isn’t toward him but his parents.

When Reigen decides to hug him, he can’t hold it anymore and cries to sleep.

The next morning Reigen’s back is killing him for sleeping sitting in the couch but swears the pain vanished the instant he hears Teru casually call him dad.

They don’t change Teru’s last name. Teru says is because Reigen Teruki sounds horrible. Reigen agrees: “Sure, don’t see the point if it’s going to change in some years, and Kageyama Teruki sounds way be- ”

You have to stop when your 15 year old son is literally in flames and a face so red you aren’t sure he’s breathing

They tease each other a lot, from crushes to the shame of being the Mario Kart loser

HEAR ME OUT, BOTH FASHION DISASTERS! Teru would be going out with seven different patterns and Reigen would be like “are you going out like this? Really? Your game is weak kid” while putting something atrocious

They are poor as fuck (well lower middle class) but Reigen always makes sure Teru has fresh veggies and fruits because he’s a growing boy

They don’t eat broccoli tho

He looks so… small I know this scene was set to the funny music and all, but this image is a small knife sinking slowly but deliberately into my heart. You ‘forgot,’ Teru?
