The air felt light that afternoon, cool enough to make your fingers curl inside your sleeves as Tamaki walked beside you. The streets glowed under the 3 p.m. sun, the smell of roasted coffee floating through the air. Shops played soft music, and the distant hum of laughter mixed with the sound of cars rolling slowly downhill.
The two of you had just left the little café, hearts full and smiles shy. You carried a small box of strawberry shortcake that Tamaki had insisted on buying, his ears still pink from how flustered he got when you thanked him…with a kiss 💋
“It was really nice,” you said, glancing at him as you walked.
He gave a tiny nod, his gaze flicking to you before quickly returning to the road. “I’m glad. You looked happy.”
You laughed softly. “Of course I’m happy. You always make my days feel easy.”
Tamaki nearly tripped over his own feet, trying to hide how red his face was. You reached out, linking your arm through his before he could retreat into his hoodie again. He froze for half a second, startled, but then relaxed when you rested your head on his shoulder.
He didn’t say anything for a while. He just kept walking, careful and quiet, his hand brushing against yours where your arms were linked. You smiled to yourself, feeling his warmth beside you. After a few quiet steps, you tilted your head up slightly and teased,
“Tamaki?” you said softly.
“Yeah? ૮₍˶ •. • ⑅₎ა ”
“You look so handsome today (⸝⸝>•̀⸝⸝)✧.”
Tamaki almost stopped walking. His shoulders went stiff, and you could feel the heat rising off his skin like he’d just stepped into the sun. “W-what? (⸝⸝๑ ̫๑⸝⸝)” he stammered, his voice higher than usual. You giggled, brushing your nose against his sleeve. “You heard me, mr handsome (∩˃o˂∩)♡. ”
He hid his face in his hand, muttering something about you being unfair, but his mouth couldn’t hide the tiny smile forming there.
“Why are you teasing me like that? (ó﹏ò｡)” he whispered.
“Because it’s fun seeing you blush, mr handsome (•ᴗ<˶)✧₊ ⊹” you said, still leaning on him.
He huffed, but you felt his arm tighten around yours ever so slightly, like he didn’t want you to let go. The rest of the walk was quiet, but every now and then, you caught him stealing glances at your reflection in the shop windows.
The rest of the walk was quiet, but it was the kind of silence that felt complete. The sky was fading into soft orange, the breeze carried the scent of bread, and every step fell perfectly in rhythm. He walked a little slower than usual, just to keep you close.
When you reached your dorm, you hesitated before letting go of his arm. “See you soon? (❀´ ˘ `❀)” you asked, smiling.” you said
He hesitated for half a second, then blurted out, “Yeah, see you soon, cutie.”

The moment the word left his mouth, his ears went bright red. You froze, surprised, before breaking into the most delighted laugh he’d ever heard.
“Did you just call me cutie?” you teased, eyes sparkling.
Tamaki immediately covered his face with both hands, mumbling, “I was trying to— I don’t know, you always tease me, so I just—(ó﹏ò｡)”
You laughed even harder, stepping closer to him. “That was adorable.”
He peeked through his fingers, still blushing furiously but smiling shyly. “It didn’t sound weird?”
You shook your head, grinning “Of course not, handsome! (>᎑<๑)/♡”
Tamaki’s heart practically melted right there on the steps. He gave you a tiny, sheepish nod, whispering, “Okay… then, yeah. See you soon, cutie.”
You were still smiling when you closed the door, and he stood there in the hallway for a long moment, hand over his chest, trying to calm his racing heart.
