Virgo can confuse unconditional service for unconditional love. They can have a tendency to give and give and give in a relationship, and wonder why they feel hollow. They should feel happy, right? They should feel full of butterflies and warmth, right? They are in love. How do they know? Because they have given so much. They often measure the strength of love in the severity of sacrifice. In this way, they can manipulate themselves into inviting others to use them without knowing it. They may expect the other person to understand their service as an act of love, and feel despair when it isn’t interpreted romantically because they don’t know a deeper way to show their affection or passion. This also applies to their receptivity to love; if they receive unconditional service, they may assume it is unconditional love, and end up heartbroken when they are proven wrong. They may not like to admit it but Virgos can use others just as much as others use them. Once they allow themselves to receive, underdeveloped Virgos can forget to give back, getting lost in the feeling of what they interpret to be care offered from a place of love (something they aren’t familiar with and need very much). They may feel that they are honoring or maintaining love by allowing someone to give to them. The guilt that usually follows is rationalized to a point of complacency. Why should I reject love? They ask themselves to disguise the ultimate question beneath: Why should I condition the unconditional, put rules on something pure & kind? And that is an excuse for them to take advantage or to let others take advantage of them, to ignore fairness and equality out of self-delusion and immature perception of love as something worldly to be offered.
