         For him, really?! Sweets aren’t at all a common occurrence in the monastery, so Ignacio eagerly accepts the gift. “¡Gracias, Señor!” And his fingers fumble with the packaging to sneak another one already...

          ...but then Nacho has second thoughts. Not about accepting the gift, just about keeping them all for himself. If he was so starved for sweets, then wouldn’t the children be even more deserving? Yeah. Yeah! He can perhaps buy a little something for himself, later.

          He’s gonna look at that macaron.

         And then he’s gonna look around, to see if the person who left it is still there.

It was usually hard for Jay to pronounce foreign words and names, but she pronounced that one pretty well.

And it was all thanks to her fathers maiden, first human learned language being Spanish. Jay had done well to pick up the accents and sounds of it, allowing her to repeat back the town name without fail.

   ❤”Big fancy houses? Are they full of higher ups? The wealthier            kin? Like…generals and commanders? Princes?”

Maybe the strange man had no idea what Jay was going on about, but all she’d ever relate what he had to say was to demons and her own kind…even though the man she was talking to was clearly a human being.

          “Well... they are just wealthy. I do not know what for.              Probably oil, or corn, or somet’ing.”

     Or winning both gold and glory in the luchador ring.

          “But while all those fancy things are nice, they are just used to fill the void in one’s heart.           Only God and hard work can truly make one’s heart whole.”
