TL:DR - My partner had to leave my country, where we have been living together for years, and return to his country - the USA. He has a job, but no car & no place to stay because he just arrived. Can you let him stay with you for $20/night (plus heāll pay for his own food & everything) until he can find and rent his own place?
He does not smoke or have any substance habits, but heās with me in the ālet people do what they wantā camp and wonāt comment on anyone elseās. Iām sure heād be willing to dishes & tidying if that helps him get somewhere safe to stay until he can rent a place.
Long Version - Immigration law sucks around the world, doesnāt it? Iām disabled and my partner is my primary carer. He has been for years, but the British government has blocked our petition to marry because Iām disabled. (Obviously they had a better reason āon paperā but I do know how to read between the lines.) Since we didnāt get married (as if we had any choice in that!), he had to leave.
He canāt move back in with his family. Heās asked me not to share his personal family drama in this request for help, but Iām sure all of you can imagine plenty of reasons why a nice, Christian family wouldnāt let their son come home as long as heās engaged to a Pagan with only the most tenuous grasp on a binary gender. I donāt have any family at all, not since my father tried to kill me.
We chose Portland due to my disability and the proximity of good specialists, plus the more relaxed stance on opiates (at least compared to other states). For better or for worse, though, heās already there. He has a job, we are all right for money (as long as there are no emergencies).
But finding a place to stay has taken longer than the week heās spent in a hotel, and we canāt afford to keep paying $80 a night for him to stay there. Not if we want to have enough to pay a deposit on a place of his own as soon as he finds one.
