I post a lot of nonsense, but I'm also in the habit of writing more substantial content. Because it's easy to lose my more meaningful work in the sea of shitposts and random updates, I'm making this post to serve as a directory for other users to locate and navigate those posts.

A 1.44 megabyte floppy disk used to be huge. Now our storage capacities have grown so exponentially beyond that that we can't even fathom how large a floppy disk actually is, because it seems so immeasurably tiny compared to the cheapest flash drive you can grab at the nearest shop.

If there is but one thing that I would wish, it is that I had but the chance to offer you my thoughts before your abrupt departure. That you would have lingered long enough for me to know that you were leaving.

Though I doubt that this should reach you, now that you have shut me out, I only wish you would know how hard I tried. So long I waited for you, yet you could not wait for me. All the time I set aside for you, yet was I so little to you that you could not offer me the same? Days wasted waiting for you to simply spare a moment for me. Was I truly worth less to you than all others, that you would put anything and anyone else before me? Was all I offered worth so little to you?

I'm not angry. I would never be so petty to exchange my love for you for rage. Yet it still feels a wound upon my soul that you would give up on me so.

I am sorry that I failed to reach you. I am sorry I hadn't the words for you to understand me. I am sorry that I couldn't bridge the ocean between us. All I had wanted was to share this life with you. Perhaps that was unfair to ask of you.

I miss you.

I hope you find all that this world has taken from you.

We don't have "ben't", because "be not" is archaic. It may have existed at one point, but I can't find any evidence of it being commonplace.

"Will", for some reason, kept its middle english contraction, becoming "won't" rather than "willn't" or "win't".

She likes to rattle off quotes when she feels like the situation calls for it. She'll quote the Bible, various books, of anything she thinks is especially profound, often without regard for the original context and meaning. As though recalling other's words offers infinite wisdom for every situation.

She's done work as a seamstress for years, so when my clothes start to wear out, I'll bring them to her. One day I brought her a pair of pants that had started to get some holes in them. It wasn't the first time they'd been patched, and one of the holes was right on the seam of an existing patch, meaning that it would require repatching the same area a second time. So, she sounded off with one of her favorite quotes that I'd heard her say a dozen times before, "A patch on a hole is frugality. A patch on a patch is poverty."

I just looked at her and asked to her face, "Which side of that spectrum do you think we're on?"

She stopped, thought for a moment, then looked back to the pants and said, "Yeah, I'll fix it."

That definitely wasn't a requirement for me, and one of the main reasons I chose that car to begin with`.

That is what I try to be. A place of safety, where others can seek to simply learn, above all else. Where the world can be put aside, for a brief moment, and look to something beyond the struggles of societies and nations.

That said, I would say this: Wherever enforcement of the law is performed as spectacle, out of convenience, wherever the sentence goven is of a severity well in excess of the crime, wherever the punishment seeks to harm the offender without any reparations for their victims, these are symptoms of an uncivilized, unjust, and broken system. These things are done for the sake of instilling fear and compliance. These things are never done with the interest of the people in mind. It is done so that you know that you may just as easily fall victim to these cruelties.
