WHY YOU KEEP SELF SABOTAGING YOUR MANIFESTATION
why you keep self sabotaging your manifestation (and it's not what you think)
okay so you're doing everything "right." you're visualising, you're affirming, you're living in the end (sort of). and then nothing happens, or it starts to come together and then falls apart, or you do something that actively pushes it away and you don't even know why you did it.
and you're sat there going. why do i keep doing this to myself.
here's the thing. you're not broken. you're not cursed. you're not bad at manifesting. you're just running an old programme that feels safer than the new one.
your subconscious is not trying to hurt you
it's trying to protect you. from what? from the unfamiliar. your nervous system has a very cosy relationship with your current reality, even if your current reality is not great. it knows what to expect there. it knows the terrain. the thing you want? that's unknown territory. and unknown = potential threat, as far as your body is concerned.
so when you get close to the thing, something in you pulls the handbrake. not because you don't deserve it. because part of you is genuinely scared of what happens if you get it.
the self sabotage is always about a belief, not a behaviour
people focus on the behaviour. "i said something that pushed them away." "i didn't apply for it." "i checked their instagram at 2am again." but the behaviour is just the symptom. underneath it is always a belief.
"i don't actually think i'm the kind of person who gets this."
"good things happen and then get taken away."
"if i have this, something else will go wrong."
"i don't trust myself to handle it."
"i'll lose myself if i get what i want."
"people like me don't end up with things like that."
you will act in accordance with what you believe, every single time. the subconscious is always running the show. the affirmations are on the surface. the belief is in the foundation.
the "waiting for the other shoe to drop" thing
this one is so common and so sneaky. you get a good sign. something shifts. it feels like it's actually happening. and instead of receiving it, you tense up. you go quiet. you start looking for what's wrong with it.
because somewhere along the way you learned that good things come with a catch. that hope is dangerous. that getting excited just means a bigger disappointment later.
so you sabotage it first. at least then you're in control of how it ends.
that's not a manifestation problem. that's a safety problem. your nervous system would rather guarantee a small loss than risk a big one.
why "just trust the process" doesn't help
because you can't think your way out of a nervous system response. telling yourself to just trust and let go when your whole body is braced for impact doesn't work. you have to actually feel safe enough to receive. and that's slower, messier work than doing a visualisation before bed.
it means noticing when you're in contraction versus expansion. when something feels exciting versus when it feels threatening even if you're calling it exciting. your body knows the difference.
the actual thing to look at
ask yourself honestly: what do i believe will happen if i actually get this?
not what you hope will happen. what you believe will happen.
and then: what do i believe about myself as the person who has this?
because if deep down you believe you'll mess it up, lose it, not deserve it, or become someone you don't recognise - your behaviour will make sure you never have to find out.
self sabotage is just self protection in a costume. it made sense at some point. it kept you safe from something. and now it's in the way.
you don't need to fight it or shame yourself for it. you just need to get curious about it. what is this actually about. what am i actually scared of. and then, slowly, make it feel safe to want the thing without bracing for the worst.
the manifesting catches up when the resistance clears. not through force. through safety.
you're not sabotaging yourself because you're weak. you're doing it because some part of you is still protecting you from a threat that isn't there anymore.
that part just needs to know it's okay now.
