"there were major systemic problems in that era of the past!"
"yes!"
"so nobody in an oppressed group was ever happy!"
"no, some of them were sometimes"
"oh so the oppression wasn't real then!"
"no, it very much was and needed to change"
"but...if they were happy..."
"humans find ways to be happy in even bleak circumstances. it's kind of a defining trait of humanity. they had to live their lives in the world as it was, even while fighting to change it, so. yeah. they made happiness for themselves the way everyone does, even now with the problems we have today. there were good things in their world, too, alongside the bad. even some things we could learn from now, though definitely not their macro-level social attitudes!"
"...ohhh you're a shill for conservative values and you wish you lived back then! got it!"

I’m currently in the unique position of being able to read a lot, but I still need more 😂 I feel like there’s a lot more art and artist out there that I don’t know about, so help me out!
Recommend me some writing for Peaky Blinders. Especially the lesser known ones that I may have missed. Recommend your own work (do not be ashamed to do so!), recommend your friends work, recommend me your favourite fics. I like fluff, I like any genre really, doesn’t matter 😂 I’ll read old fics, I read new ones; I do not care. Message me, reblog this to help me spread it around, tag me idc how, I just would like to know what else is out there 😊
@theshelbyclan Here's my Peaky Blinders Masterlist and I'll also rec the incredible writers I know in the fandom. I know you've been here longer and might already know the majority of them, but perhaps you'll find a a few new blogs. (Apologies to anyone I forgot, I'm impressed I remembered this many 😆)

A short walk home turns into much more. sorry trinity i’m stealing your roommate you can’t have him back.
Robby pretends he doesn’t care about Valentine’s Day.
That’s how it starts.
He calls it “a corporate scam” three days before. Rolls his eyes when Dana asks what he’s doing for you. Tells everyone at work he’s “not the flowers-and-teddy-bears type.”
And yet.
You wake up on February 14th to the smell of coffee and something sweet.
Your eyes are barely open when you feel the mattress dip beside you.
“Don’t move,” Robby murmurs.
You squint at him. “Why?”
“Because I said so.”
His hair is still damp from the shower, hair darker than usual, and he’s wearing that gray Henley you love. He looks suspiciously put together for someone who allegedly doesn’t care about Valentine’s Day.
You try to sit up anyway.
He gently presses a hand to your shoulder and leans down, brushing his mouth against your forehead. “Stay.”
And then he reaches behind him and brings something forward.
A small bouquet.
Not huge. Not dramatic. But carefully chosen — pink tulips and white roses.
You blink at them. “Robby.”
He shrugs, suddenly shy. “They looked like you.”
“That’s not a real explanation.”
“Yeah, well.” He hands them to you, jaw tight like he’s bracing for impact. “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
Your chest feels warm and heavy all at once.
“I thought it was a corporate scam.”
“It is,” he says immediately. “But you like scams.”
You laugh, and he visibly relaxes.
Then you notice the tray.
Coffee. Strawberries. A croissant. And a tiny heart-shaped pancake that is very clearly slightly overcooked on one side.
“You made this?” you ask carefully.
“Don’t inspect it.”
You grin. “It’s a little burnt.”
He narrows his eyes. “You’re a little burnt.”
You reach for him, and he lets you pull him down until he’s half hovering over you, half tangled in the sheets. The flowers get squished between you and neither of you care.
“You didn’t have to do this,” you say softly.
His expression shifts.
That teasing edge fades into something quieter.
“I wanted to.”
His thumb brushes along your cheekbone. Slow. Intentional.
“You know,” he continues, voice lower now, “I don’t really need a holiday to love you.”
Your heart stutters.
“But,” he adds, leaning closer, lips brushing the corner of your mouth, “if there’s a designated day to show off that you’re mine? I’m taking it.”
You laugh softly against his mouth.
“Show off?”
“Yeah.” His hand slides to your waist, warm and steady. “You think I don’t notice the way people look at you?”
“Oh my God.”
“I’m serious.”
His tone isn’t jealous — just honest. Possessive in that quiet, grounded way that makes you feel chosen, not claimed.
“I like that you’re with me,” he says. “I like that I get to come home to you. I like that you’re mine.”
Your fingers slide into his hair.
“And I like that you pretend you don’t care about Valentine’s Day.”
He huffs a laugh.
You kiss him first this time.
Slow.
Unhurried.
His hand tightens slightly at your waist, thumb brushing just under your shirt. Not rushing. Just feeling you there.
When you pull back, he rests his forehead against yours.
“I have one more thing,” he says.
“You already did flowers and breakfast. What else is there?”
He smirks.
“Get dressed.”
—
Two hours later, you’re standing outside the little bookstore café where you had your first unofficial date.
You turn to him. “Robby.”
“What?”
“You remember this?”
He scoffs. “I’m not an idiot.”
Inside, there’s a small table by the window. Two coffees already waiting.
And on the chair beside yours?
A tiny wrapped box.
You stare at it. “You’re unbelievable.”
“Open it.”
Inside is a delicate gold bracelet. Simple. Minimal. A small engraved charm.
You turn it over.
My favorite place is wherever you are.
You look up at him, and he suddenly looks very aware of how much he just revealed.
“I know it’s cheesy,” he says quickly. “You can tell me if it’s too much—”
You cut him off by pulling him into you.
He exhales into your hair.
“You’re my favorite place too,” you whisper.
He pulls back just enough to look at you.
“Good,” he says softly. “Because I’m not going anywhere.”
And for a guy who claims Valentine’s Day is a scam…
He holds your hand the entire walk home like you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to him.
you know those moments when you're looking at your partner doing something absolutely mundane like cooking or reading or something and you are hit by that feeling of like "i love you"?
i'd love to see a moodboard of one of those moments for jack and skipper please ❤️
Jack doesn't know why tonight is different. As usual, you're perched on the kitchen counter, detailing your day while he makes dinner. Whenever your schedules align, this is how you spend your evenings.
"And then that little freak medical student tried to tell me that it was unprofessional to kiss you when I left-"
Ogilvie. Your new number one enemy, and he can't say he blames you. He's not too fond of the guy either.
There's something about the way your face is animated - how your hands are gesturing enthusiastically with each piece of gossip from the ER. You've never looked prettier.
God, he's glad he has you.
"But anyway, Frank's just bought an engagement ring, but he has no idea how to propose, which is where I come in... what are you looking at?"
It's only when you trail off, an eyebrow arched in amusement, that he realises he's staring. Letting out a small hum, he crosses the kitchen in a step and presses his lips to yours. "Just love you, s'all."
You laugh, almost as if surprised, as if you can't believe he could possibly be thinking that. "Love you too, Jackie."
Plot: Denis started to fall for one of his fellow residents, little did he know it was his boss’s daughter

The Pitt Masterlist AO3 Link
Since Dennis’s first day in the ED, he was close with his cohort of residents. With a traumatic memorial first day like that, who wouldn’t be that close?
One person that he had seemed to be drawn to was (Y/N) (L/N). She finished school and was placed at Pittsburgh's Trauma Medical Center for her residency. The more that they worked together, the closer the two got.
The entire group congregated outside the hospital walls. He and Trinity would have a movie night, and Mel and her sister would host a trivia/ game night, and Victoria would host a dinner at the end of the month (everyone needs a home-cooked meal that they didn’t cook), and (Y/N) would happily show up to all of them. They would bug her and ask her why she never hosted anything at her place, and her response was always be ‘my dad works long hours and being at my house just wouldn’t work’.
Dennis somehow always ended up in her orbit. Whether it was during a code, lunch break, or just at one of the group hangouts. (Y/N) never pushed him away or poked fun at him, she embraced him.
After a particularly long shift, Dennis and (Y/N) walked out of the ambulance bay. The night air hits them just right. “Can I ask you something?” Dennis stammered. She hums and turns to him.
“Do you want to do something? Just the two of us?” he asks, holding his backpack strap tighter.
Her eyebrows raised in surprise, her mouth opened to speak, but nothing came out. Dennis started to panic.
“Sorry if I overstepped, I was just wondering cause...” he started, quickly tripping over his words.
(Y/N) regained herself and put a hand on his shoulder, grounding him.
“Hey, it’s ok. I would love to do something with you,” she smiles.
Dennis’s face grew hot as a blush spread across it.
“We’re both off tomorrow, how about then? We can meet up somewhere?” She offers. “There is a cute little used book store and coffee shop that is the Natural History Museum, we can meet at the museum and then walk over,” Dennis, casually, but also nervously, nods along.
“That sounds great. Do you want to meet at 12:30?”
“Sounds like a perfectly planned date,” she says with a smile.
They say good night again, (Y/N) walks off, leaving Dennis behind, awestruck that it went as well as it did.
“I didn’t think you had it in you, huckleberry,” Trinity comes up behind him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“Me either,” he mutters, eyes not moving from where (Y/N) was just standing.
Dennis got there early. Not super early, but early enough that she began fidgeting with anything he could get his hands on. His buttons on his flannel, his hair, his phone, etc.
“Dennis!” she called out. He looked up and just admired her.
Not seeing her in scrubs for the first time was refreshing. (Y/N) wore a medium-washed jean skirt that fell about mid-thigh, A cropped stripped nit sweater that looks well-made and well-loved, tights and platform Oxford shoes.
Dennis quickly snapped out of his daze and greeted her with a hug. Her perfume fitted her perfectly, nothing overpowering, a hint of cherries and musk.
“Ready to go?” she asks.
On their walk to the cafe bookstore, they talked about everything that wasn’t work. Stories from school, family stories, and shenanigans that would never be heard by parents.
As they walked up to the door, and ever the midwestern man he is, he opened the door for her. She giggled and felt her face heat up just a bit. They stood in line, looking at the chalkboard, looking at all of the tasty options that the cafe has.
“What would you recommend?”
“Usually, I like to get the coconut milk matcha with lavender syrup. But when I would come here to study for an exam, I would get their macadamia shaken espresso.”
“I might skip the matcha, tastes like grass,” he mutters the last part softly.
(Y/N) gently shoved his shoulder, giggling again. Dennis looked at her dearly. He could listen to her giggle like that all day. They got to the counter and ordered their drinks (she just had to try a cookie butter latte) and split a coffee cake. Denis went to pay, but her card was faster.
“I was gonna-,”
“My dad gave me some money for this. You can get it next time,” she smiled.
“I already get a next time?” he questioned with a smile.
“So far so good,” she replied as their drinks came out.
They found a table in the sunlight, not so much that it was blinding, but enough to warm them both. They tried their drinks, tried each other's, and the stories continued to flow. More med school stories, more childhood stories, and the more that they talked, the less they felt like colleagues, the more their feelings towards each other grew.
The door chimed as it opened. (Y/N) gaze went over to see who walked into the cafe. Dennis saw her eyes flicker with concern quickly. He was confused before–
“Oh, hey, Dad,” she spoke up. Dennis turned in his chair; he felt like he was about to pass out. Standing just behind him was Robby.
“Hey, sweety, Whitaker. What are you two up to?” he questions.
“Just a date,” she says with a smile.
Robby looked Dennis up and down, trying to size him up. Robby wasn’t looking at him like he would at the hospital, an attending and a student, but he was looking at him like a father protecting his little girl. Dennis tried to look him in the eyes but was freaking the fuck out (internally and a little outwardly). (Y/N) saw the look and rolled her eyes.
“Dad, will you stop?” She waved him away.
“Ok, ok, I’ll leave you two love birds alone,” Robby said. He placed his hands on Dennis’s shoulders, giving a squeeze before walking to the bookshelves.
“You didn’t tell me that Robby was your dad,” he said once Robby moved out of earshot.
“I didn’t have to tell you, plus when I signed up for this placement, they told us that I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone,” she said, sipping her latte. “Is my dad gonna be a problem?”
“Problem?”
“Dennis, I like you, probably a lot more than I let on.” Dennis felt his face heat up. “But I do not want my dad to be an issue.”
Dennis thought about it. When he first met Robby, he felt intimidated by him, but as the first shift went on, he saw a lot more than most students would ever see. Robby trusts Dennis a lot, and vice versa.
“Not at all,” he says with a small smile. (Y/N) returned the smile.
“Good,” she moved closer to him and placed a kiss on his lips. Dennis was surprised, but quickly returned the kiss.
When they broke the small kiss, Dennis looked absolutely love-sick. She caressed his cheek, placing another kiss on his lips.
“Ready to get out of here?” she questions. Dennis didn’t trust his voice and just nodded. She grabbed his hand before leaving the cafe.
Little did they know that Robby was texting a photo of them to a group chat between himself, Jack and Dana.

Plot: After a rough shift in the PITT, all that Michael wants to do is go home to his long-time partner
Word Count: 791
Warning: None, domestic fluff
The PITT Masterlist
Robby had never been so happy to go home. It was a busy shift for the Emergency department (when isn’t it busy). A long day of keeping track of his residents, making sure Gloria stayed away from the department, and the many patients that stepped foot into the emergency department. Luckily, there weren’t any mass casualty events, but there were many other traumas that they did deal with throughout the 12-hour shift. He was ready to enjoy his evening with his partner, eat the dinner they had prepared, snuggle up on the couch, and try not to fall asleep.
“Any plans for the night?” Dana asked as they walked out of the ED, a cigarette already in her mouth.
“Nothing important, just seeing the misses,” he replied, checking his phone to make sure she hadn’t asked him to pick up anything.
“The next time there is a function, you should bring her. I miss seeing (Y/N),” Robby rolled his eyes, but nodded.
“Like I would need both of you ganging up on me,” he mudders. He gives her a quick hug, sending each other off to their evenings, preparing for the next day.
When he walked through the door of their shared townhouse, Robby could hear the soft music playing from the kitchen and smell the food she was cooking. He placed his bag down before walking deeper into the house. As he entered the kitchen, all he could do was admire her.
(Y/N) stood in front of the stove, humming along to the song that played from the little speaker they always kept in the kitchen. She was wearing one of his sweaters, an old forest green hoodie that she had stolen from him when they first got together, paired with sleep shorts.
After watching her for a moment, his craving to hold her became too much, as he moved up behind her and wrapped his arms around her stomach. She jumped at first, but quickly relaxed as the familiar scent of him flooded her.
“Welcome home,” she turned and placed a kiss on the corner of his mouth. “I missed you.”
“I missed you, too. I am so happy that I get to come home to you every day,” Robby spoke softly. He squeezed her just a little bit, wanting to be as close to her as possible right now. He could see the small blush starting to creep up her face because of his comments.
“Me too,” she turned and placed a proper kiss on his lips.
“What is for dinner?” He asked, looking over her shoulder at her creation.
“Chicken stir-fry, got some fresh veggies at the store on my way home, so I thought it would be nice,” Robby smiled, placing another kiss on her cheek.
“It is almost ready, but you have time to get a shower in. You reek of hospital,” she said, jokingly sniffing the air in his direction.
Robby squizzed her hips, nipped her neck, and placed a kiss on her head before making his way to the shower.
When he returned, now out of his scrubs and smelling a lot less antiseptic, he was in some sweats and a shift that was a lot less tight-fitting. He entered the kitchen and saw his bowl set and placed. (Y/N) had just finished placing a beer beside his bowl. She looked up and smiled, throwing her arms up with jazz hands.
“Tada,” she says.
Robby smiles, and the wrinkles around his eyes become more pronounced, looking at all the small moments that had accumulated into one moment. She stepped to her, bringing her into a big bear hug. Her head was resting against his chest, enjoying the warmth she was extruding.
“I love you so much,” he whispers, afraid to speak those words too loudly.
“I love you more,” she replied.
Robby hummed, scattering kisses across her face, giggles spilling from her as his beard tickled her face.
“Not possible. Whenever we’re together, whether in our little piece of paradise or across the world, you are my home,” he says. He placed one more kiss on her nose.
“Getting sappy, are we?” she teased.
“For you, always,” he smiled.
They could have stayed like that all night, just in their embrace, no outside world getting in, just the two of them against the world.
“As much as I would love to stay like this forever, but I would also like to eat our food while it is still warm,” she states. Robby playfully groans, releasing her from the hug.
“Fine if we must,” she pinches his side as he slightly jumps and moves to his spot beside hers. That is where he wants to be for the rest of his time.
Plot: Spending New Year's working in the PITT wasn’t your idea of a good night, but spending it with your boyfriend made it a bit better
Warning: dusting off the writing rust, established age gap relationship (reader is between 28-35), fluff, slight mention of firework PTSD, A late New Year's post
Word Count: 656
The Pitt Masterlist
If it were up to her, (Y/N) wouldn’t be working on New Year's. She would be out welcoming the new year with friends, drinking and partying. But, because she owed Samira a big favour for taking her St. Patrick's Day shift, (Y/N) was working tonight. As soon as she walked into the ED at 8 pm, it was already littered with people who pre-gamed too hard, fighting aftermaths, etc. This wasn’t gonna stop till tomorrow evening.
She took a deep breath before putting her stuff into the locker room, mentally preparing herself for anything that was coming the ED’s way. Just as she entered the floor, people were already flagging her down. She got pulled into a code with Dr. Ellis, then into a broken bone reset, a stomach pumping, etc. Before anyone knew it, it was already 11pm. Things had quieted down just a little; people were settling in or getting discharged, and people were getting moved up to the respective floors.
(Y/N), finally had a chance to breathe, and the first person that she went to look for was Jack. She scanned the ED and couldn’t find the attending anywhere.
“Where’s Abbot?” she questions, walking up to the hub. Shen looked up, sipping his coffee.
“Getting air,” he said. (Y/N) processed his words, nodding. Shen reached over and handed her sweater to her.
“Thanks, Shen. I’m taking a 10. If you need anything, page me,” she says, taking it and walking to the elevator.
She got herself to the roof door, and she checked her watch; it read 11:30 pm. She opened the door to see that a soft snow had begun to fall. As she got her bearings off the roof, she saw Jack where he always would be.
“I don’t think the snow would help break your fall,” she says. Jack turned at the sound of her voice, a small smile gracing both of their faces.
“Dark, Dr. (Y/L/N), dark,” he replies.
“But you love me for it,” she says, leaning against the metal rail. “Are you not cold?” she questions, clocking his short-sleeved scrubs and no jacket.
“It’s not that cold,” he replies, ignoring the small gitter that he was starting to get. They just sat there, watching the city enjoy their night.
“Everything okay?” she finally asked. Her hand moved to his cold arm. He jumped a little at the warm hand, but he welcomed it.
“Nothing that we haven’t seen or dealt with before,” he said, his eyes going to her.
She moved closer to him, her head resting on his shoulder. Jack leaned his head against her’s. They didn’t have to say a word to each other; they were just enjoying each other’s company. Even though they both work the night shift, it was rare that they got moments like this to be alone.
All of a sudden, the sound of fireworks started to go off. Jack flinched; even with the years of therapy he had done, he was never a fan of fireworks. (Y/N) tightened her grip on his hand, grounding him ever so slightly.
“Happy New Years babe,” she whispers. Placing a kiss on his cheek.
He turned to her with a smile, looking at her and reflecting on the past year they had spent with each other. The good, the bad, the ugly, the amazing.
“Happy New Year,” Jack kissed her on the lips. “Thank you for being my rock,” he whispered.
She smiled and brought him closer, warming him up in the process. “Thank you for being my anchor,” she replies.
Before anyone could say another word, her pager went off.
“Ready to go save some lives?” she asks. Jack kissed her one last time.
