“i’m looking forward to getting to know you better as well; and thank you for looking out for grog. i’m thankful he’s making good friends.” it’s all she could hope for, really. “have you done much traveling before? i’ve been with wilhand, mostly. i’m… excited, i think, to see more of the world.”

        ❛  it’s  no  trouble  on  my  part,  really.  he’s  great  company  and  as  a  three  foot  tall  gnome,  the  eight  foot  tall  goliath  certainly  comes  in  handy  whenever  theres  trouble  afoot. ❜

Keyleth chuckles and offers the gnome a wry smile. “You know, you say that every time you visit,” she replies, leaning back in her chair as she sips at her tea. It’s strange, being the only ones left. Having watched their friends and their friends’ children (and grandchildren, in the case of Percy and Vex’s offspring) come and go like the seasons. Seeing one of the de Rolo kids and thinking ‘is that Vex?’ until she turns around. (Or worse, thinking she sees Vax in those children for half a moment.)

All those years, and the world has gotten quieter now. But Scanlan is still Scanlan. And she’s still the same Keyleth she always was, she thinks.

“And every time I offer to write a letter instead, or to come and visit you,” she adds, still grinning. “So really, your old and shitty body has no one to blame but yourself, I think.”
