I thought of you and wondered what sequence of words I could string together to get me back to you. So many unspoken words collected on my floor. I repeat each just to remember what they sounded like. They used to be comforting but now they feel odd, like wearing a new suit. The answer was in this pile before me. I arrange every way to say I love you until the morning when the sun lights my way to you, though I know now how to walk it. I thought of you and realized I haven’t stopped all summer. I knew I shouldn’t look back as I walked away, but now that I’m gone I haven’t stopped. Now the days are turning into years and what was once radiating heat now lies to rest with smouldering embers. The past never forgets. It sees itself in everything like a mirror. People and places are all pointing towards the memory, the one I swore I’d never forget. Your dog starts to bark as the noises get near

You run to your room, head straight to your bed
