when I remember that the eighth doctor saw compassion’s place in the time war as a weaponised tardis coming for her like a bullet between the eyes and decided to try to control her in an attempt to throw the time lords off, as if he could only make her ‘human’ enough then gallifrey couldn’t touch her, but all this does is rob her further of her agency, bodily autonomy, and awareness of her own circumstances, and push her away from trusting him, because the doctor has again reverted to a paternalistic approach of ‘knowing what’s best’ for ‘the greater good’ - which is exactly why the time lords are in this mess in the first place - and also the mindset that eventually leads him to destroy gallifrey, the last resort of his species’ conflict that he’d been running away from by clinging onto blind denial and hiding behind his own renegade ‘humanity’, and when I remember that the end of the ancestor cell leaves him the last of his kind with his life in compassion’s hands, where she saves him but where he then wakes up amnesiac and identity-less in a world where he has no idea of the stakes of his own life or his power but can’t help but feel he’s incompatible with the ‘normal’ human lives around him, leaving the audience with that sobering realisation that denying her nature didn’t allow the doctor to save compassion and denying his own didn’t allow him to save himself from his fate either…… your body is a weapon in the time war and no amount of pretending you’re human will convince the rest of the universe that you’re not a gallifreyan atom marked with ‘waiting to be split down the middle’, which is, after all, exactly what you are

Someone asked me a while ago if I still had a photo of the worst sink I had ever seen while apartment hunting in Los Angeles. I assumed I deleted it so I didn't answer the ask and now it's gone, but as it turns out, yes, I do still have a photo of it.

I want to learn more exclamations that aren’t strictly just religious stuff. “Jesus Christ” this, “oh my god” that, nah I want something fresh.
