1. There's one thing I don't understand: why is only the MC being blamed, even though Max was there too? I'm especially referring to the scene in the prologue and the reactions of the adults, especially Theo's mother.
2. Is this a standalone book or part of a series?
1. Currently we only have the point of view of one of the two terrified children, and unfortunately, MC hasn’t found out what happened right after their quick departure yet. Hopefully that helps but it’s hard to answer without accidentally spoiling something.
2. At this moment, it’s planned to be a standalone book but that could change! I have to decide if I want to create one hefty book or split it into two. Both are possible, but I need to figure out which would be best for the story itself.

I can’t even begin to describe how much this means to me!! When I started writing this story, I was worried that people wouldn’t be able to connect with the feelings MC grew up having because it is a pretty specific feeling, imo.
Im sure it’s unsurprising to learn, but my childhood is what heavily inspired me to write this story. I loved visiting family, making friends and thankfully I grew up in a very creepy woodsy area which adds into the inspiration of Myrtle Lane ❤️

Quietly affectionate, soft touches and little whispers of encouragement but mostly shown in acts of service.

Very observant. She'll remind you of your doctors appointments, and have your favorite drink ready for you as soon as you show up.

Not yet, but they'll learn to like cuddling. Would be in heaven if you held her, and played with her hair.

Can cook the very basic of basic meals, but can clean okay. More of a surface cleaner than deep cleaner though.
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
Straight to the point, willing to list off reasons why if requested with a calm demeanor.
F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)
Not scared of commitment at all, but doesn't really see the point of marriage. Would have a small ceremony if her partner wanted too.
G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
With their partner? Very gentle. The opposite with other people.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
Not huge on hugs, definitely stiff at first contact before relaxing then it's warm and she'll rest her cheek into your neck.

She doesn't really get jealous, probably the best with it. She'll quirk an eyebrow if you're trying to make her jealous but that's about it.

A childhood crush that has never faded? A reminder of happier times? Did Theodore ever blame MC for his brother's death like the rest of the place seems to have?

I can't answer the question about Theodore actively blaming MC or if he has ever blamed MC in the past because it'll be answered in the story BUT I can answer the other question a little bit.
It was just the brothers and Maxine 90% of the time, and then you had this small, special 10% of the time when MC was visiting for the summer.
MC began to represent summer and change for all of the neighborhood kids and they all had their own plans and expectations for the summers with MC but Tommy began to be the "chosen one" over the years. Maxine was younger, Theodore older and Tommy was the perfect age to be your friend- a goldilocks situation that he used to his advantage.
Theodore doesn't have a defined crush on MC unless you are on his route, same as Maxine, but he does always have this small grudge that Maxine doesn't have, for not being able to spend time with you without having to be invited by his brother, and for his brother not wanting him around most of the time. You were special to him too.

While presents given to MC would more so depend on the interests of that MC, I can at least say what type of present they’d go for.
Maxine: would probably want to get MC a cute activity that they could do together, and would be thrilled with receiving cutesy things. A simple bracelet and you get her new charms every year for it type of presents.
Theodore might be the worst one buying presents so he’s probably go for something sentimental but needs explaining. “I got you this cute stuffed animal because you looked so happy at the petting zoo that one time,” and he likes practical gifts. Pens, notebooks, little gadgets, ya know?
Cat would do handmade gifts, she likes to be crafty. And receiving homemade gifts would also make her entire year. She lives for that shit
Jherimy likes to shop. He’s buying you multiple things. He’ll try to stick to things that hold your interest, or encourages your hobbies but will sprinkle in clothes and jewelry that he liked. He’d probably like a good book or maybe a new plant.
Resolutions:
Theodore’s are achievable self goals: eat better, exercise more, be more organized
Maxine’s are usually social based: volunteer more, help her mom with a goal of hers, take a yoga class

Theodore is also horrified. He might freeze with his hand in the air before he realizes what's been done before ending up like Cat, and is jumping away from you and saying sorry over and over.

Theodore isn't the most affectionate, but will become more so with his confidence growing in the relationship. Shows in quiet ways. Small gestures, smaller smiles as he's always waiting for your reaction.

Sadly, Maxine can sometimes be very forgetful but she tries her hardest. She might accidentally forget your moms birthday, but then will remember a small niche detail about you in the same conversation.

She might not have a favorite but she has a top 5 list that changes every single time you ask her
