Will your vlogs explain how the process works and how long? Or as much as you can without giving too many specific details? I'm so happy for your family and this process. God is so good!
Thank you Rachel!!! We will be talking a little bit about the process but we are asked to not go into too many legal details. But most of it is pretty vague to begin with! The only thing we won't be able to do is show the babe when we get matched until everything is finalized; which we are complete okay with :).
We have BIG news!
I have been dying to talk about it, but I hadn’t been able to quite yet until now. We’ll be making a video announcing it soon but you guys will be some of the very first people to know… Shane and I are adopting a child from Korea!!!
We have talked and prayed A LOT about this decision and finally felt 100% ready and excited a few months ago. We started working with an agency and a social worker and we are in the currently in the process of completing our homestudy. Our social worker is actually coming to Okinawa in 3 weeks to do the home visit. Crazy!!! With this, school, Luca and Shane’s schedule- life has been crazy busy. But we are beyond thrilled and couldn’t wait to share the news! We cannot wait to tell Luca about it, but we are waiting a little bit since the process can be VERY long and we wouldn’t want him to be frustrated. I cannot wait for him to know!!
We have been vlogging a bit of the process and hope to be able (mostly allowed) to document all of it. We’ll be uploading an announcement soon! There is a lot of info/questions that we’ll be discussing, but if there’s anything you guys wanna know, feel free to ask! :)
If you’ve been following me for some time then you might recall me talking about wanting to be a surrogate. Not just mentioning it in passing but really truly wanting to do that for someone as soon as I was done having my own kids.
Well, here we are now. I had someone ask me a couple days ago if I would consider having one for myself and I was stumped. I never thought about that before. I didn’t realize I might never be able to carry someone else’s baby when my body cannot carry my own. It’s devastating. I’ve been really heartbroken these last few days, for this and other personal reasons. Yesterday was the first time in almost 2 and a half years that I knew I was ovulating and we just kind of shrugged and thought, meh, for what? The pain that comes with trying is too much right now. We are giving it up.

My all over the place thoughts & updates:
-Luca is turning four years old on Wednesday. What even?
-We’re having a small birthday party on Saturday and I need to figure out good room temp/cold finger foods (help!)
-I’m going back to college!! I talk more about it oh my vlog channel, but it’s happening. Never thought I’d be going back but why not?
-Not being able to be pregnant played a huge part on college decision. I can’t wait around to be a mom again, so I might as well do what I need to do and move on!
-I wish it was just as easy to stop TTC but it is what it is now. 28 months of defeat can really take a toll on you.
-We will be in San Diego in less than 2 months. I CANT WAIT. Family and friends every day!
-Shane is in the process of applying for MECP (commissioning program) which has been the most stressful thing ever but we’re really praying it pulls through.
-He also has been applying to colleges all around the country and so far Idaho looks like a good fit. IDAHO. I didn’t even know where that was until now, eek! But at least it’s in the states?
-I’ve been really pushing myself to make friends out here since it’s been a year and a half and it’s been going okay. It’s also been really hard.
I have veeery sensitive skin so as I was showing a rash on my armpit to my husband he said "why don't you just stop shaving? It might help a lot!" and I just felt really glad to have him. I hear some women say they want but can't cut their hair because their husbands only like a certain look on them and even though I can 100% respect it, I'm so lucky to have someone who will look at me and say hey whatever makes you happy and comfortable is what I like.
Weightloss/health update: Ran a 5k yesterday and I am SO SORE. I can hardly move today!!! It was awesome. I've been so sick this week but I felt awful canceling so I pushed myself and I'm so glad I did. My friends encouraged me the whole time. It was great! I also weighed in today at 137 lbs. 137!!!! I haven't been in the 130's SINCE HIGHSCHOOL. I really can't believe it. My highest weight last year was 165 and through a lot of exercise and clean eating I quickly dropped to 147 and stayed there for a loooong time. I didn't really care too much about losing weight at that point, but in April I decided to go vegan and see what happened. It has been so awesome. The weight has kept coming off slowly but surely. I basically eat as much as I want as long as it is plant based and I have worked out a total of 5 times (5k included!) Its been such a great thing for me and I haven't felt this comfortable in a long time.

For those who like a lengthy update, here it is. The month of July was so good. My parents being here was seriously the highlight of my year but it flew by too fast. I keep looking back at pictures and it doesn’t even seem like they were here. Life was so good and Luca was so happy! While they were here we flew to mainland to visit Kyoto and Osaka which were so beautiful! The people and the culture in general is just awesome. We walked for miles every day and ate so much. Plus having Shane off his crazy work/school schedule was so good. It was such a great vacation! Last but certainly not least, I got baptized!! It was seriously the best day ever. I’ve wanted to forever but once I decided to do it here, I wanted to wait for my parents to be a part of it. I can’t believe August is next week. Luca is turning 4. FOUR. In 34 days. I just cannot even begin to understand how it’s already been that long. Life has seriously been such a rollercoaster. Everything is going great and then it’s not, you know? But it is what it is and we’re dealing with it the best we know how! God has been our Rock and we are seriously so blessed every single day, no matter what.
PS: to those who see the same pictures I post 8392 times on all social media and always like them- I see you and I LOVE YOU.
Sometimes I’m scrolling through tumblr and I realize how much I miss writing/posting pictures about my life as frequently as I used to so I’m like okay I need to do it again but I never know where to start because it’s been so long since I really talked about anything so I end up never posting but I can never actually delete this blog because I’ve yet to print out everything I want you know? I also feel like most people I know from here follow me on other social media platforms so we still know what’s going on in each other’s lives and I worry it will be repetitive although I used this as my more personal inner thoughts. Anyway..this literally happens multiple times a week. So here is this big run on sentence to let you in on my thoughts.

Hi. Im still alive! My parents are coming to Oki in 24 hours!!!!! I am so excited. I haven't told Luca yet and I cannot wait to see his face!! It's been really busy and I seriously can't believe it's almost July. This year is going by crazy fast but I can't complain! As if that wasn't good enough, we have a trip home planned for October so we can see the rest of our family. Ahhh. So many feels. (I'm also really secretly hoping to be pregnant by the time we leave!)
A week or so ago during nighttime prayer, Luca said “don’t forget baby brother or sister!” telling me to pray about that too. He had never said that before or heard us do it…which was shocking and precious, so we prayed. Every night since then, he gets excited to pray about the same thing and I just can’t. I really can’t. My heart feels heavy and I never really thought we’d be at the point of him asking and wondering why he doesn’t. Also a couple days ago as we were walking to our car, he saw a mom with her two kids and said “see, look! He has brother!” It broke my heart. Knowing that he is beginning to feel like he is missing something is making me hurt so bad.
