Heaven isn’t a place you’ll end up one day, it’s what you inherited when you said “yes” to Jesus!!
“Everything you need for this season is already in your hands.”
““Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.
Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16 MSG
Birthday cake and testimonies 🙏🏽🔥❤️
On this birthday I have so many testimonies. God is so good.
In the past two weeks
1) that thing you saw on the Ghana news about two cars that had a huge tree fall on them in Ghana during the rain.... one of them was my mother’s car. My mother was not in the car neither was my sister who was meant to be in it. The driver was in and escaped- the tree fell and stopped RIGHT BEHIND HIS NECK
2) I moved out of my previous apartment. To get the landlady (racist beyond comprehension) to return my deposit became an issue. My own money oh. And this was a lot of money that could pay my rent for two months almost in the new (better) place She blocked me on all social media. I sent her messages threatening legal action. Yesterday during my midnight prayers I called God to shake her till she sends my money and that I want it before my birthday. This woman has 45 days under the law to return the money. Yesterday I got an alert. She had returned it. She has about 20 days left!!!!!! She had told me she won’t send till the end. She doesn’t know my God
3) I survived the emergency room (already shared that)
Look God is real. And more than anything I am so grateful that my life has been so far all focused on Him before anything because he has put love everywhere around me and an assurance that I am a winner because I know him!
I woke up so happy today!!!!! This is the best birthday!!!!!!! I am exactly where He wants me to be and I am flourishing. I have never been more proud of myself or my family or my loved ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am shining Iike the sun in June. I am shining. I am flourishing. I am new!!!!!!!!😫🎉🎉🎉🎉❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

911 and an Urge
So I am half asleep but I need to get this testimony out because I just can’t stop this overwhelming feeling in my spirit of thanks and gratitude!!
So yesterday I went to uni. I had a lot of stuff to do actually so I was taking trains here and there the entire morning and finally I got to school and decided to stay in the library and do my 200 page reading (LLM is not babies!!!) for the next class the next day.
I had decided to stay in the library till 6 and finish all the pages before I left so I was there munching pages. Around 3 I had a feeling I should go home. I cannot lie to you. It was a very overwhelming urge to go home now. I remember even thinking aye I better go home because this is how people feel somethjng is wrong and something goes wrong etc etc superstitious etc 😂
So I left at 3:15 and took the train and then finally got home. When I got home around 4:30 I took a nap and then woke up at about 5.
Suddenly I had this serious pain in my abdomen. It gradually kept getting worse. Gradually and gradually becoming so unbearable that I had to reach for the floor from my bed and lie on it. I began to cry and I called My boyfriend who said he was coming immediately but he lives 40 minutes away. He began to panic and he said Rachel please call 911 - by this time I was screaming and crying.
Finally I called 911. If you know me well enough you know I panic about nothing and I do not go to hospitals. Yes it’s that simple. I think I am a conqueror too much 😂 so if I called 911 in a foreign country without any idea of the process I was definitely in pain!!! Major might-die type of pain
Soon the ambulance was at my apartment. If you live in America you know that when you call 911 the police, ambulance AND fire service all come together. This was dramatic. People Came out of their apartments etc.
Anyway so I was taken and luckily the tests showed that there was nothing major.
By this time my boyfriend didn’t even know where I was taken and there was no network in the hospital. So he ended up sitting outside my apartment panicking for two hours (beautiful soul that one ❤️). So he called my landlady. Guess what? This woman had just arrived at that hospital to pick up a cousin of hers who worked in the kitchen there at that exact time. Anyway so she found my room and soon he was also there with me and I was disacharged. I am safe now and I am good. Went to class yesterday jumping and hopping all over the place. Seems as if Wednesday night never happened.
Why did I feel that urge? If I had left at 7 it would have happened on the TRAIN! Underground!!!!! American underground!
Why was she there at that exact time!
My God saves! My God saves! Jesus I owe you.
Once again, I’m reminded that I have a purpose!!!!!! And I’m still here because I have NOT finished!!!!!!🙏🏽❤️
XxRach
This week marked the first in an 8-week long journey to draw closer to God. I’ve learnt that seasons like this are important in my walk - seasons where I tune out of all the competing messages and unnecessary priorities and tune in to God and what He’s saying in any given season. Avoiding sin is not enough - sometimes you have to turn off the tv, put away your party shoes, and trade your self-help books for the only book that truly matters.
One of the things I love most about God is that He doesn’t force Himself on any of us - but that goes on to mean that we only get as much of Him as we are willing to take. The peace, the healing, the comfort, the joy, the restoration, the revelation, the wisdom - all these things He gives freely, but like a child with arms outstretched for the gifts of her father, we must position ourselves to receive, and receive more… because there is ALWAYS more. If my life currently is within my realm of imagination, then I know I still have a ways to go. (at Franconia, Virginia)
Example
Negative vibes go. Negative vibes go. Lol
I had to dispel the frustration because I just typed a long post and it disappeared. On a day when the only thing I have eaten is doritos because I am too cold to go downstairs and cook. Anyway lol
So I have been in bed all day and I have been reflecting on a lot. I have suddenly become very in tune with my thought processes and very in connection or in lieu with my feelings. It's very positive. Today my processes toook me back to my upbringing. I was brought up in a sheltered home. I was made to believe that life was warm and that the same love we showed each other was the love everyone else had for us. This was despite the visits to certain people who would offer us food and my mum willl bar her eyelids so fast you would BELIEVE the "oh we are before we came". But honestly I mean we were protected from the world and the thoughts of others that might not be so pure and so loving
My sisters and as time went on have gone to school in various countries (me the least) and so somehow we were now confronted with different views and different people who did not necessary know how to show the loves we had always known as nature.
One interesting thing however is we began to meet people who either did not believe at all that there was a God, called God different names or those who for some reason hated the idea of God who didn't exist (I do not know how something that does not exist can make one so upset but anyway "let's move awwwwn (Bernie Mac voice)"😂😂
Meeting people like this always makes me so excited because I think they are such a valuable resource in relation to the minds of individuals depending on their experiences. As I have grown I have become more and more accustomed to meeting people and having to answer questions about how I manage to spend so much time and energy on a God I have never seen. And I love it so much. Apart from the fact that it allows me a platform to brag about Jesus it also allows me to sort of explain what people are missing without fear or favor.
Listening to people with such different views about God makes me want to change that. Just like any other evangelising Christian or any other one on fire for God. So I used to show them stuff. Make them read. Reading never hurt "nobody". Then I tried to tell them there was God. And that didn't work because obviously they were not hearing it for the first time.
And then it dawned on me. The only way to truly believe is to feel or to experience.
I know and love God not only because of Sunday school and with my very malnourished bible reading plan definitely not really from searching the scriptures. I know God because I feel Him. He lives in me means I feel him. He's in my soul because I have experienced Him. Not only through my breakthroughs but through watching the lives of others like my dad who sought and followed and loved Him even till death. Beautiful man.
And so what's the answer. My aura must speak the word. My life must tell the story. That Jesus is King. That God is faithful. That His word is an ever lasting balm that soothes the wounds of those hurting and lights up their soul
"Let my light shine among men"
This is the loudest truth. Love. Love everyone regardless of what they believe in or not. Love them even so. How many times has someone who didn't believe told you "ah but I thought you were a Christian". They know the truth. They just need to feel it through you
Be the Christian. Be the voice of Christ. Love. Don't Judge.
I love you
Rach
According to his riches in glory: TESTIMONY!!!!!!!
I have always said I myself am my own living testimony and my own story inspires myself. I cannot say that I have actually had to struggle in life by the grace of God. God has always provided for my family in abundance even though we have indeed been through some times that were pressurizing just like everyone else. However i have indeed had serious stressful moments I thought I won't come through. After my father died I didn't think I would be able to live. We were too close. It was a hard hard time! But God said no. God came in just like he promised in the Bible to be the father to the orphan. My mother is a beam of light in my life. She worked so hard and luckily God opened the door for even better jobs for her. Suddenly the doors were opening. Scholarships, contracts, admissions. When I remember how God took me to the law school for my LLB. I had gotten to a point where I had believed I won't get in because some of my results had not come out and had been lost and I hadn't gotten my certificate yet. I literally got my certificate a day before I needed it and got into the best law school in Ghana lol (it still gives me chills). That's the summed up version. Through the law school I had struggles. I was sick a lot. I also had challenges with certain people who just proved difficult to understand. But through it all I was able to persevere. I made a great friend and she and I stuck together and studied our way through. God himself proves strong!!!!!!! I hardly had any group studies but somehow I was getting A and B plus in certain courses. God was my group study! Last week I finished the law school. All my results are in and I never failed one or had to re sit anything ever! Knowing that I never had group studies or was never given the "underground shared info" that was going round , this is a major testimony!!! Then after I was admitted to the same university my father went to in America. It was a struggle through the application process and I never assumed I will actually be admitted. (With some scholarship 😂😂😂😂😂😂Trumps america!?)Here I am about to start my master of laws in international legal studies in a few days and I am sitting here thinking HOW!???????? HOW!?????? When and how did the girl who never got to go to her first graduation get here? The girl who had to study late nights by herself in her single room in pent. The girl who was confused about where she would be this year. I can ONLY thank God. He is my King. My hiding place and my fortress. For He supplies ALL our needs according to his riches in glory. *****Twigs

TESTIMONY 4: HES TURNING MY LIFE AROUND
I would like to thank the Lord for how far he has brought me. I would like to thank him for the protection over the lives of everyone dear to me. I would like to thank him most importantly for taking Rachel Nyakotey through law school. This year the Lord helped my sister find a job a problem she had been facing for some years. I'm very grateful for that and will never be able to thank him enough. My life has been on a hold for sometime now my plans hopes dreams and ambitions. But gradually the Lord is opening doors. He keeps surprising me day in day out. There are times I wondered if I was ever going to move from the stage I was in, but the Lord has been good to me, My prayer requests are being answered. My blessings are over flowing and gradually he's directing me to where I deserve to be. I serve a living God I'll forever worship and praise his name. J.S
Testimony from my soon to be brother in law. MINDBLOWING!
DR. ISAAC AFARA (AN AMAZING AMAZING TESTIMONY YOU CANNOT MISS GETTING SOME INSPIRATION FROM) When our idea of blessing falls short of God’s grand plan to bless us beyond our imagination Coming from a humble background and a great family, I have experienced God’s faithfulness in many ways. I graduated as the top student in my high school and had one of the best year 12 (WAEC) results in the country. Also, by God’s grace I was among the very few graduates in my high school set to pass the competitive entrance exam into university immediately after high school. These were all God’s grace and favour at work. After a certain event (a testimony for another day), which was a turning point in my life, I decided to invest my time and resources to serve God in the campus fellowship. Despite the difficulty and rigour of studying Electrical Engineering, I was involved in the ushering unit and spent a significant portion of my time in university serving God, from my first year to the very day I graduated. Many times I felt discouraged, but serving God was more important to me than being involved in any club or society. Sometimes I would see my class mates heading to study rooms while I was on my way to fellowship to serve God, and the thought would pop up in my mind “are you here to study or to serve God, stop wasting your time!” But I was convinced that sowing my time in the Kingdom was worth it. Of course I created time to study (when others were out partying or clubbing). While serving, I was praying and asking God for a breakthrough. Like every undergrad, I wanted to graduate with a first class, so this was one of the focus of my “breakthrough” prayers. After almost 5 years of prayer and occasional fasting, God sent a word to me through a friend I had not seen or spoken to for months. He came to campus specifically to tell me the message, he said to me “God said He will surprise you”, just those 6 words and that was it. Because I had been praying for a first class, I was convinced that the “surprise” had to mean an answer to my prayer for first class. But when the time to graduate came, I finished a grade lower than first class. I was devastated and I questioned God. After a day of being disappointed and depressed, I received strength and said to myself, “it really doesn’t matter, God still remains God no matter what I go through”. I knew at the back of my mind that His word never fails, Jesus said “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Luke 21:33 NIV)”. So I held on to God’s word. A year later I had the opportunity to travel to Australia to visit my sister, then decided to undertake my postgraduate studies. I didn’t have the money for tuition (it was a lot of money), but I trusted God. My plan was to complete a doctorate degree, but I knew most universities will require me to complete a masters degree first. So I applied to a number of universities and got in contact with several professors in my field of interest. Long story short (miracles in between), one of the professors was keen for me to come do research with him and he said I can skip the masters if I want and go straight to my doctorate study. This was very rare, but it was the beginning of God’s blessing and fulfilment of the word He gave me 2yrs earlier. Then I was given full scholarship, which covered my tuition fees and living allowance throughout the period of my doctorate study. Immediately I got the news of the admission and scholarship, I broke down in tears, it was too much blessing to digest in one day. Then the Holy Spirit said to me, “I told you I would surprise you!”. Indeed, God keeps His word. This scripture verse came rushing into my mind, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9 NIV)“. My idea of blessing was obviously nothing compared to God’s grand plan to bless me beyond my imagination. A few years later, after completing my doctorate degree with several university awards and recognitions (many miracles and testimonies in between), God said "I’m still not done surprising you!”. One thing I have learnt so far in my christian journey is that God’s faithfulness never fails and His word will always come to pass. Whether it’s a word specifically sent to you or a promise in scripture, hold on to it in faith and be sure that God will honour His word. One of my best scripture verse is “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:10-11 NIV)”, it is a reminder and an assurance that if God says it (prophecy or promise in the bible), He will do it, in fact He has to do it because His word cannot fall to the ground. Sometimes God needs us to hold on to Him in faith, especially in seemingly impossible situations. He is eagerly waiting to bless us. Regards, Isaac Afara, PhD.
TESTIMONY 1: HOMELESS ALMOST, BUT GOD NEVER FAILS
So I have heard of people being homeless because they were broke...but it never hit near home because I felt blessed to always have just enough. An encounter last year was to test my faith on that. My landlord refused to renew my lease for my last 4 months stay after school (before graduation) because there was someone willing to pay for a year and obviously I didn't see the point of paying for a full year when I will be gone way before then. I decided to search for a new place, little did I know that was about to be one of the darkest times in my life. I had the money, was willing to pay, but couldn't find a place because everyone else wanted a year's lease or didn't find me a suitable candidate (those racist children). I remember two nights before my lease was to expire, due to desperation I opted to go and visit an apartment which was a little out of the city. I got off the bus, had to walk another 15 minutes by then my phone battery was on about 4 percent but I still couldn't find the place. I tried calling the landlord, no answer, sent texts, no replies. Standing on an empty street in the middle of the night, with a dead phone and literally no where to call home by in the next 24 hours, I broke down. The tears were fighting to erupt. In that moment more than ever I felt the presence of God with me and telling me He was with me so there was no need to worry. I started walking without even knowing where to and somehow found myself on the main road again, ordered an uber home. I decided I was tired of the house search and would come back to Ghana the following day (21st September) since coincidentally my return ticket was still valid until that day. Spent that night praying before I went to bed. On my way to campus (around 9:00am) to sort out some final stuff before leaving, I got an alert from my bank asking me to confirm if I was in possession of my debit card. I almost responded yes but decided to check anyway only to realise it had been stolen from my pocket. Obviously had to take a detour to the bank. After informing them of my predicament they directed me to the only branch where I could get my card replaced on the same day. It was almost 11:00am by now and my check-in was supposed to be around 12:30pm. There was no way I was going to make it. To be honest at this point I thought God was just having a laugh. I cancelled my flight, officially homeless since that was my last night in my apartment. Tried to re-book a flight for the next day but ridiculous prices on short notice so I called up a friend in another city (if you know me and how much I hate asking for help you know what this means). She said it was cool to crash with her whilst I sorted myself out. I had to give half of my stuff away that day to charity because I couldn't travel across cities with everything. My friend who was leaving to Ghana early the following month offered me her apartment (for free) for a month since her lease was ending October 31st. Still I continued my search for my own place with no luck. Just before end of October, another friend randomly hit me up that he heard I was searching for a place to rent and there was accommodation where he was, so I paid for it and moved once again to another city for November. So December was coming and I hadn't informed my parents who were coming for my graduation about what had happened and I needed to find myself back in my city before they got there. Every hotel was booked, not to speak of even regular apartments. Randomly a friend hit me up asking me if I will be coming for graduation and he knew how hard it was getting a place around that period so if I was interested he'd ask around. He did and found me a nice place for the exact time I needed at a cool price too. I got back there in time to receive my parents with none any the wiser. That is how I went from almost being homeless in a foreign country when there is plenty rice at home, to God using my friends as angels at exactly the points when I needed them, even before I asked they offered. I truncated this story obviously so as not to bore you with so many details. But one thing is for sure, standing in the middle of some shady neighbourhood where I was willing to settle because I had forgotten whose daughter I was filled me with faith beyond which I can ever explain. That experience gave me a level of hope and belief which cannot be taken away from me. God showed me that as His child he always had my needs provided for, worry was to stay far from me. And finally it probably gave some nice kids somewhere some nice clothes because that charity donation was long overdue lol. V.A
TESTIMONY 2: SWERVED FROM DEATH🙏🏿
About ten months ago I was in a car with a few friends of mine. We had just come from getting some food and we were driving down the madina road. I cannot explain the feeling I had suddenly but I am certain it was the urging of the Holy Spirit. I began to feel extremely uncomfortable and suddenly very very hot. I had this strong urge to pray. And I began to pray. The next few things i saw happened so fast. Suddenly the one driving the car swerved and skidded off the road. My legs hit the bottom part of the seat in front of me so hard and all I could hear were shouts. Luckily we landed right on the garden part that seperated the road we were on and the other road with cars coming down so fast that if we had moved just a second more we would've been crushed by oncoming cars. It turned out that there had been a dead body on the road. The man had been hit by a car that had come down the road earlier and had fled from the scene. The one driving our car had seen the body suddenly and therefore had to swerve the body on the road. This almost made that day our last day. What scares me even more if that just a week before a pastor friend of my family had told my family to pray about the coming Saturday because the devil had a plan and we had prayed about it. This was that Saturday. May God Himself be praised because after hours on the side of the road I was finally in bed .... shaken but saved When the Holy Spirit speaks it is indeed truth. He saved. He delivers. Thank you Jesus
It’s hard in a world of competing deadlines and priorities to stay close to God. In fact, as my season has only become busier, I’ve had to learn to be more and more intentional about keeping in tune. I’ll worship on the treadmill or catch up on sermons on the plane. Even in the wee moments of my day, when my mind floats away from my body for a second, I find myself subconsciously assessing my bearings in Christ. And that’s the most important thing that I’ve had to learn in this season: that Christ can be found in the midst of my busyness. What I say, how I say it, what I do, and how I do it, all have the ability to reflect Christ. There’s a reason the Bible says: “When you eat or drink or do anything else, always do it to honor God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31 CEVUS06). So here’s what I try to live by, even in the most hectic seasons that seem to draw me away from God: “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” (Romans 12:1-2 MSG) 📷@pninson (at World Trade Center Abu Dhabi)

When I think about how far the Lord has brought me. When I think about how close I was to being nobody When I think about the miracles he worked for me without letting me ever resort to the help of man whose mandate only is to promise and fail When I think about the way he took me to a higher table from the lower table- from the barn to the King's table When I remember the tears and fears that accompanied the genesis of these dreams I remember ... That when I think of Jesus and all he has done for me Oh my soul cries out THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME once again my testimonies are many!!!! I thank you my Abba Father always for being the only Constant 🙏🏿🏆
I always get a lot of questions about why I’m celibate. And I wish the answer was as simple as ‘because the Bible said so!’ but I’ve found, at least personally, that 'because the Bible said so’ has never had much holding power in my life. In fact, whether the topic is sex or fornication or lying or jealousy or stealing, the law has never been able to do what it set out to.
And that’s why there was the necessity of the being of Jesus - so it would no longer be simply up to the law to guide us, but so that we’d have an actual human role model to show us how to do it, and a spirit to speak to ours as only he could.
Back to the topic. Celibacy. I have never quite found exactly how to convey my thoughts on the matter without making people feel condemned for their choices, so it’s a topic I generally try to tread through carefully. That and the fact that I believe that it’s one of those things in our faith that you have to work out for yourself - I sure did.
But if I had to try to explain how I came to this conviction for myself it would be this: the Bible tells us in Matthew 1 that although Mary and Joseph were together, they didn’t actually consummate their marriage until Jesus was born. What was being grown in her through the Holy Spirit was so special and so vital that it had to be birthed before she could give herself to another to become one with them. And that’s how I feel. I know I am called and set apart and I know committing myself to someone in that way outside the right place and time could jeopardize that. I care more about making sure I feel right in my relationship with God that I do about my own desires or someone else’s.
This takes me back to the first piece I ever wrote on celibacy LOL. You can check it out at http://slayednsaved.com/the-dilemma-of-how-to-be-taken-seriously-when-telling-a-guy-or-anyone-for-that-matter-youre-celibate/ #linkinbio
