Valentine
Jeremyâs POV
I wake up and realise that itâs Valentineâs Day. Kirstie is tucked in against me like an adorable little teddy bear. I lie quietly for a moment and just watch her sleep. Call me a creep if you want, but I canât help it. Sheâs my personal Disney princess. I run my fingertips down her arm and she stirs slightly. Knowing she loves the clichĂŠ of being kissed awake, I start placing small kisses all over her face and in her hair.
She peels her eyes open and looks at me with a smile.
âGood morning sweetheart.â I say.
âGood morning honey.â She replies.
âAre you excited for today?â She looks at me completely confused for a moment, her morning brain trying to figure out what day it was.
âOh! Happy valentineâs day!â I chuckled slightly and ran my fingers through her hair, lifting her chin a little to place a sweet kiss on her lips (pretty much the only place on her face I hadnât kissed yet).
âAnd to you my love.â I whispered in her ear once Iâd pulled away from the kiss. âCome on, letâs make breakfast.â
I threw the covers off us and rolled out of bed. I turned around pretty quickly after hearing Kirstie groan, probably from the shock of the cold, and offered her my hand to pull her up. She gladly accepted, but when I started to pull her up I got a better idea.
I quickly pulled her harder and picked her up, so she was wrapped around my side like a child. She yelped out of surprise as I did this and gripped on tight to me. Such a cutie.
Once we reached the kitchen, with Olaf jumping around at our feet, I put her down and sorted Olaf first whilst she got out pancake mix. Surely the best way to start Valentineâs Day. Barely 15 minutes later, we both had a couple of pancakes covered in syrup.
âJeremy whatâs this?â I heard her ask from the other room. When I got there she was pointing to the small bunch of roses in a vase on the table.
âPre-planning sweetie. Besides they looked good there.â I told her with a smile. Valentineâs Day treat number one; check.
An hour later, we were both dressed and ready to go for a romantic walk, with Olaf tagging along of course. I was definitely living the best life; my gorgeous wife gripping one hand, and the most adorable dog on a lead in the other hand.
It did feel like we were living in a clichĂŠ though. The sun was shining, there was a gentle breeze in the trees as we walked and you could literally feel the love and happiness in the air.
I looked at the time once we got a bit tired of walking and realised that it was time to get some lunch. Valentineâs Day treat number two; coming up.
It was a fairly small restaurant, but there was a little outside area where Olaf would be happy and we could look at the wonderful of the city as we ate. It was one of Kirstieâs favourites so the staff knew us well by now.
Near the end of lunch, I decided it would be the perfect time for me to give her the actual present I ordered for her. Cue Valentineâs Day treat number three. A white-gold necklace with an emerald heart surrounded by small diamonds.
âSo you know how I love spoiling you and treating you like a princess, right?â She nodded. âWell I found one of the best presents to give you.â With those words I pulled the box containing the necklace out of my pocket and handed it to her.
âBut Jeremy, I thought we agreed no expensive gifts.â
âI couldnât help myself.â I told her with a cheeky grin.
As soon as she opened the box, her entire face lit up with excitement and amazement.
âYou really got this for me?â she asked sounding very unsure.
âYouâre the only one I would give something that special and unique to.â I said without taking my eyes away from hers.
âI love it. Thank you honey.â She smiled then leaned over the table to kiss me. Once we pulled away, we just looked into one anotherâs eyes for a moment and I swear the love between us mustâve been visible from space.
We spent the rest of the day cuddled up on the sofa watching cheesy romantic films, complete with blankets and popcorn.
About 8pm, between films, Kirstie jumps up from where she was curled up against me.
âI havenât given you your present yet. Hold on just a moment.â She darted out of the room so quickly; anyone wouldâve thought she was on a sugar high. Moment later, she came back in and sat next to me placing a small rectangular box in my hands. I looked at her, confusion all over my face making her laugh. âOpen it.â
I did as she asked, but just got even more confused. It was a stick. My confusion cleared completely when I looked closer. It wasnât just a stick. It was a pregnancy test, and it was positive.
I looked up at her, tears in both of our eyes. âAre you?...â I whispered out. She nodded with a small âmhmmâ and a smile spreading across her face. It took a second before it sunk in. When it had sunk in, I threw the box and test to the side and picked her up, spinning her around. Safe to say I was giddy with excitement.
âOkay, put me down, we donât want to hurt the baby.â She said after a minute or so. Oops. I placed her back on the sofa, and then proceeded to attack her face with kisses. I was just that excited. It took a while for me to calm down, but once I had she laid her head back on my lap, allowing me to stroke her hair as one final film played. Not too long after she was asleep on me.
I may have gotten her some pretty good gifts and spent the entire day making her feel even more special than I usually do, but she gave me something better. Something no amount of money can buy. Happiness in knowing that we are going to have a family of our own.
