A groupverse based off Saltburn ( but maybe without the [spoiler] twist ) - a group of generally elitist college kids living their best and worst lives at Oxford college and spending holidays on Styxx's family's huge english estate.

Cerci's a newly-made orphan (tragic, I know) which sadly everyone in the elite circles knows, but at least they don't know the circumstances surrounding her parents' untimely death, nor why she gets the occasional letter signed by "Wolfe" ( see this ). She gives off the vibe of Rich Kid, but it's all an act if you look closely enough. We all know she's on the Psychology, Philosophy and Linguistics track.

One would think Styxx is in the Classics track, but Modern Styxx is definitely in the Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) track to groom himself to reclaim the renounced royal Anaxkolasi name... even if its not necessarily what he wants. Styxx is two years above the others (Cerci, Louis, Mbege).

The much loved, much wanted, much unconcerned "Felix" of the Oxford world, Louis' parents begged him to do law, following the shining example of eldest child Lizzy, or medicine, following middle sister Megan, but Louis after careful deliberation between Geography, Relgion and Theology, and Music- decided on the Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) track, much to Styxx's disappointment.

Mbege is for the first time in life without his best friend, and using his malpractive settlement money ( see his bio under "modern" ) to fund a new lifestyle starting with the Fine Art track, with a focus in Photography. He tends to keep to himself, but found himself striking up a friendship with Styxx and then Louis in his first year so he's now firmly ensconed in the "elite" circle of the school.

I was supposed to be coming in, feeding this guy twice a day while my friend was out of town, not hiding out here using up all my sick days. Just a while longer. Just till I know the Russians aren't looking for you. I'm not the one that looks like they've been through the grinder.

He’s been trying to speak with her all night, though it would seem the fates themselves were conspiring to keep her as far away from him as possible. He’d been tracking her from the corner of his eyes all night, watching her empty wineglass after wineglass alongside Cerci, his concern growing in spades with each replaced glass. The only reason he hadn’t thrown all caution to the wind (his and hers both) and rudely excused himself to go to her was the singular saving grace that was Cerci London, the only other woman in this room aside from Rookheeya herself that wasn’t interested in him. 

“If her initial assesment of me when we first met is anything to go off, I can imagine her judgments have been quite entertaining.” He reaches a hand out as though offering to take her glass. “Perhaps we can just talk for a moment?” 

She started talking… and talking, and talking, as though she didn’t even realize the stream of thought she was letting loose, and a corner of his lips ticked upward. “Cressida is lovely.” he agreed. “And Phoebe is indeed enthused about her eventual wifely duties.” His blue eyes were darker than usual, a serious, brewing storm more than the usual summer sky they embodied. 

"What on earth did she have to say about you?" A wicked grin that was enticed forward with the aid of the wine came forth with a delighted laugh as she shook her head. "We are talking."

Well she was drinking more specifically, but he wanted to talk. She would've thought he'd be sick of talking at this point of the night given all the attempts of the people inside trying to talk to him about marriage, futures, wealth and alliances. Everyone was scrabbling to get his attention and win his favor. By now it wouldn't have surprised her to see him slink out by himself for some peace, but somehow he managed to claw his way out to her. And certainly to shock her with that statement.

Brow arched she remarked back. " None of them up to your standards. I know you expect plenty from your men, but now I wonder what you expect of your wife if all of the women out there fail to interest you."

She glanced back over her shoulder to the fair haired, white armed women that clamored all over the room to find their handsome prince. "I can safely say that those are certainly the most beautiful Greek women you could find, Styxx. Your options are very narrowed if you can't find a single woman there to wed."

She gives him an opening and his smile turns mischievous. “Hmm, what I expect of a wife. I would expect her to challenge me, certainly. I have enough yes-men around me, I prefer a woman who has opinions and isn’t afraid to give them. And passion,” he breathes the word like it’s gold, “I would want her to have passion- for her family, her friends, her beliefs… me, preferably.” He chuckles again. “Someone with fight. Someone with a backbone made of steel not even the gods could break.” His eyes have drifted to the greenery around them. 

"Your father will be very disappointed that you're not enjoying your parade of...princesses."

To be fair they weren't all princesses. Some were simply noblewomen from various courts alongside other princesses, but it was nearly the same thing. All of them were fawning and clawing for their chance to speak and breathe near the prince. She and Cerci had managed to find a corner of the room to watch the chaos ensue was Styxx was ambushed and mobbed every moment of the evening. It might have been funny if he didn't look so miserable.

It seemed every time he spotted them he'd try to break through the wall of women when he'd get stopped by a girl or her father or brother who was trying to foist someone onto him. She on the other hand spent the evening drinking and gossiping with Cerci who had something to say on all the women particularly the best candidates in the political sense; and Rookheeya couldn't help but agree with those sentiments on first glance at them.

They all seemed like cruel shrews or insipid idiots and she pitied Styxx's choice of potential brides.

Unable to take the scene any longer she had managed to take her cup of wine and slip out to the colonnades to get some fresh air when the star of the evening managed to find her. He looked exhausted.

"They're all quite..." She took a long drink of her wine and grimaced shaking her head. "- lovely in form at least. You really ought to ask Cerci her opinions on them- she's quite thorough. Really its a shame she's betrothed to Stefanos because she's the only one I think that you'd be able to love in that room."
