My Crimson Sky

Hey guys,

I wrote this poem today during a reading of Edgar Allan Poe's a telltale heart. I'll probably improve upon it later so bare with me in this process of trial and error!

Do you want to take a walk?

  Ages gone and ages past,

I’ll kill them all until I’m last!

With knives and spears and these hands of mine

Oh, the eternal silence will be sublime!

  Out to the cabin we shall run,

In the woods we’ll have such fun!

We’ll repaint the ground with crystal red,

The old stained ground of the dead.

  It’s so lonely out here you must believe

All my friends, they tried to leave!

I had to chase them down you see,

With all the red it was hard for them to breathe!

  Black and blue I fell to pieces,

I stained the wall bright and saw it’s creases,

In the dark I stayed with my  steel,

And they said I’d stay forever, because I could never heal.

  They laughed at me, my friend’s with canes

They all snickered and called me insane!

They laughed and jeered for all to hear

Until I found them in the alley’s lane

    The crystal red ran so freely

The scream stopped, jarred from his head,

I looked upon the crimson city

And walked away from all the dead.

  I’m soon to leave forever,

I fear the ghosts of the dead,

They point to my scars and snicker

And no matter what I do they’re inside my head!

  Please don’t leave me here alone!

I’m so scared of the night,

The ghosts are coming back for me

They promised they’d take me from the light!

  I just wanted to be free,

I didn’t know what it would cost,

I just wanted to be safe,
