I love Dex and Troy (they deserved so much more) so I thought I’d share some of my own shitpost headcannons. No basis for most of these, just my own think tank.
Was against smoking as a kid but the stress of being a cop and undercover made him start, come the start of SR2 he became a chronic smoker as a coping mechanism and has an ashtray in every area he frequents including backup packs of smokes for his backup smokes. He doesn’t try to cut down on his smoking further into SR3 and instead it grows worse because of Boss and their bullshit moves he has to help deal with.
Addicted to spicy food, junk food, and he can cook for himself but for how demanding his job is he hasn’t had time to hone his skills and just orders out constantly. He stays so skinny because of a fast metabolism since he doesn’t like working out. He keeps a little jar of hot sauce in a spot on his utility belt.
Gets scared at scary movies but plays it off like it’s nothing and always makes sure his popcorn is really buttery but not drowning in it.
Likes hockey which is something he bonded over with Julius with.
He and Julius were quite close since if you go back to the beginning of the game he calls him Jules. (Or I’m wrong, I have poor hearing so could be that too.) but he was close to Julius which he was meant to be as an undercover cop but when he saw the gang and Julius and why they originally joined up and he believed in the caused which is where he became more Saint than cop. When Julius betrayed Playa by blowing up the yacht, Troy felt betrayed too and so he fell out with Julius but kept tabs on the rest of his friends (Johnny, Playa’s condition and Playa themselves, other Saints).
Has the worst poker face imaginable but the irony is he thinks he has a good one and no one tells him otherwise. He lost the most to Dex who thought it was funny.
Deserves more of a story than what he got and a remodel in SR2 because he got done dirty.
Asked for books for birthday presents, loved puzzles as a kid and was always seen as the gifted one who would go places and make a life of himself.
Has an older sister, grandmother and mother. His father died when he was young in which he took the looking up to of Julius. His sister was his role model and taught him how to stand up for himself, same goes for his grandmother and mother.
Was in a math league as a kid and in high school, something he went into in college which he’s attending during SR1 and is a life he keeps painstakingly separate.
Met Johnny in high school, they were good friends but when Johnny became well- Johnny they grew apart naturally and Dex hates how violent Johnny is while Johnny doesn’t see the point of Dex’s extreme planning.
Terrified of snakes (ironic from SR2) and Johnny once pranked him by giving him a gift and once he opened it there was a wooden snake attached by a string after Dex took out the gift (it was a new visor) and Dex threw it at Johnny’s face while giving out the loudest of shrieks.
In SR2 he had finished college a few years after SR1 and when he was offered a job at Ultor that was completely legit, he took it. After all the Saints were done and while he did enjoy the Saints since they were his crew he had his family to take care of first. With becoming head of security and a millionaire he could set them up for life, and he did. But old habits die hard and came the dealing nuclear materials, etc.
Didn’t actually want to kill Playa originally but became paranoid that they’d try and go after him once he went legit and technically betrayed them and ended up making an enemy out of them for no reason when in reality they didn’t hold anything against him until he pulled the stunt at the church with them and Julius. When Playa went after him for the nuclear material and he realized it wouldn’t stop until they were dead and they were too stubborn to die, he ran.
He’s still highly paranoid and honestly it’s his own fault but it got worse when the Saints became international celebrities.
Does have a Saints tattoo that he can hide and never got it removed even after he left Ultor, a reminder of the past and one he doesn’t know if he’s proud of or not.
