I'm very happy about The Artful Dodger getting a 3rd and final season. I'm actually really good with season 3 being the end of the show. I have seen too many shows run themselves completely into the ground by trying to sustain too many seasons, and I'd much rather have a good final season than to slowly fall out of love with it. 3 seasons is a solid number for many shows. And this show was originally intended to be a 1 season limited series, so to get 3 seasons is fantastic, but to try to stretch it further than that could easily begin to wear thin. Plus, the fact that they get to make it with the advance knowledge of it being the final season means that I have high hopes that we'll get a good ending.

Honestly still in shock that we get not just two but three seasons of The Artful Dodger.

Because like as someone who watched Lockwood and Co and Shadow and Bone and My Lady Jane I just can’t believe how much this fandom beat the odds. If I’d had to choose which shows of these would get renewed The Artful Dodger would’ve been my last pick (though the one I would’ve wanted the most). Like it just felt SO unlikely that this little Australian heist medical drama historical romance Oliver Twist fanfic of a show would get renewed somehow.

Like this was a LIMITED SERIES originally and now it’s been renewed TWICE. And I feel like all the shows I mentioned above went so much more viral and had much larger fan bases and still got cancelled and yet here we are. We also had literally NO marketing especially compared to a show like shadow and bone. This cast isn’t out here getting to do interviews together, they didn’t have proper press junkets, etc. I’m SO glad for the shows success despite that but also like still in disbelief.

We’re truly god’s favorites when I think about it.

nasa is using a 3D world graphic for the solar eclipse thingy today where germany is still devided in east and west adjfglkafdhgadfg. buddies, it's been almost 40 years.

So I showed this to a physicist and they were like "Oh! Yes! It's a figure from Fred Espenak's very old paper where he did a bunch of eclipse graphics! I've been looking at these my entire internet life, basically, for every solar eclipse! They called him Mr. Eclipse. He just passed away recently 🥺"

Anyway apparently Mr. Eclipse made 5000 years' worth of solar eclipse graphics, which you can find the simpler versions of here

So now instead of laughing at NASA for their outdated graphics I'm emotional about Mr. Eclipse and his hard work

Metahuman with super healing powers whose entire job is that once a week they go to a nearby hospital and are put into a medically induced coma for 24 hours while all their organs and blood are harvested, and kept there until they've healed up again.

They get paid a small stipend by the Heroes Council for this, and they live off that.

No crime fighting, no obvious heroics, and they only took a Super Identity because it's technically hero's council policy. Nobody's ever seen them in a cape.

Every so often the Heroes council will release an official report to the public, and there'll be another bunch of news articles wondering how some unknown super calling themselves 'Meat Factory' somehow consistently holds the record for most lives saved across the city.

It is essential to my vision that they are not at all sanctimonious about this.

Like, they regularly act like they're getting away with something. They joke about how they get to earn money in their sleep. They show up to their hospital visits in deliberately ridiculous disguises, on the excuse that they need to 'protect their identity'.

Part of their employment contract is that they get served the same post-operation vanilla ice cream that they normally hand out on the childrens' ward. Also a sticker. Their overnight bag is covered in stickers.

Okay, Meat Factory is awesome and hilarious, but if they're being harvested for and regenerating absolutely everything, may I suggest an alternative super name: Theseus.
