hey! so about that "tortoise comic" - you may have just had an memory resurface about an old kids/young adult short story collection book. the comic is the exact plot of one of the stories in it - two friends are hanging out, first one transforms into a wereturtle, second friend is confused, and they get the curse as well and also turn into a wereturtle (but you did not include the part where they get hit by a car)
