Hot take, but I genuinely don’t understand the modern demonization of using “but” when apologizing or talking something out.
Do people use it in negative connotation at times? Yeah, ofc. In 90% of my actual experiences though, it’s used more often than not as a vehicle to explain the mindset someone had that led to the argument, not to make up bullshit to get away with it. If I want a deeper understanding of someone so that a similar argument doesn’t happen again, it’s integral to take in and understand that mindset whether it was right or wrong. It also lets me know if i might also be accidentally contributing to the problem.
Otherwise it becomes a blind apology that validates one side, but may leave the other side still unresolved, since in most cases, conflicts aren't one sided. This opens up potential to reasonably “morally” justify downplaying the other parties explanation for their side of the experience, because when a person naturally uses “but” (as people do with filler words), the other party will usually immediately roll their eyes and mentally dismiss it at least a little because of the normalization of that mindset. People naturally use filler words when stressed (if they don't already in normal conversation).
I feel like its a good contribution to the plague of hyper-individualism at large.
Like yeah, if you're hearing straight bullshit, call it out, but if everyone generally agrees that apologies come from actions and not words, why do we police the words so much? Just let people communicate ffs. Random viral advice online is not a one-size-fits-all solution to every difficult conversation you're going to have in life.

I used to know a woman named Belle who had supposedly met a demon once.
It was this man she talked to at the bar when she was at her lowest. she lost everything, and it was gonna take some miracle to pick her life back up. This supposed demon gave her a mysterious box, and said it was a miracle invention that would solve any problem she came across. Having nothing left to lose, she happily took it home.
Later that night, her sink was overflowing, and she remembered the box the man had given her. she curiously pushed the button on it, and miraculously, the sink was instantly fixed! it truly was a miracle gadget! not wanting to hoard it to herself, she generously took it to town to help as many people as she could (and make some money). Eventually, she was the face of the town! All her debts were paid off and she lived a life of luxury and comfort due to this mysterious little box.
eventually, on her death bed, she said her goodbyes to her loved ones and all the others who's lives she had impacted. At the end of the day, after everyone had gone, she lay there watching the most beautiful sunset she had ever seen in her window. The figure of a man quietly walked in. She squinted at him, slowly gathering the image in front of her. Assuming the sunset was blinding her, the man leaned in closer, but before he could say anything, she screamed "A STRANGER!!!" and died of fright.
Belphegor.

people be talkin about their "Mall World"s, but mine is a library mansion with long dead end hallways and confusing layout, sectioned into zones that are either barren, haunted, or inhabited by old-timey frog people who want me dead.

the more i mature, the more i understand that Fenrir probably would have never been the killer of the Gods if they had just treated him right instead of creating a self-fulfilling prophecy for their deaths.

Imagining the liminal mix of nostalgia and wonderment for witnessing the advancement and differences over the years of gradeschool classroom environments, and remembering being in those grades as a kid and reminiscing if i were ever to enter one again for whatever reason.
what even does this mean @ past me
IT MEANS I WANT TO SEE MY CHILDHOOD CLASSROOM AGAIN, BC IM A BIG BABY LOSER
thinking about Wonka Donutz
Hangnail
On my fingers, little grenades
Hiding in the corner, a serration
I pull the tip with my teeth
Slipping away from the edges of my skin
Like pulling the pin
While there is no explosion
There is still blood
huh?
inhaling like im going to say something and then deciding not to but now the room is weird because i just took a big audible mouth breath for nothing

When you're talking to your pets and mention something you own, do you refer to it as just your item or as both of your item? (EX. "what are you doing on MY table?!" vs. "what are you doing on OUR table?!")
Yes! My pet owns everything I own!
No! They can get their own shit!
idk if the rest of my friend group feels the same but in my brain, we're like a little platonic polycule.
