"it's not the circumstances that make you smart, but your way of handling them. luck and privilege are tools just like any other." and the people who do good things with that power are far and few between. sure, would most citizens care about a little hoarded paint? unlikely. but to kali, who cherishes her creativity like a human being might treasure a soul... it's everything. chuckling along, she continues, "and resourceful, too. i should have paid more mind to those insisting i get dolled up. maybe then i would have a few more tools of my own. at least i've got you, noah. just be sure to remind you that i owe you one, would you?" direct and genuine, she enjoys repaying favors almost as much as gaining them. but only almost. she is a bear, after all—a solitary animal. "i'll even keep you warm, if it comes down to it. but good art is worth a sacrifice—they'll be sure to give you more clothes long before you freeze."
noah nodded her head despite her lack of confidence in kali's words. she still felt like her advantage was undeserved. the next words out of the other's mouth unwound the tension from her shoulders as she let out a laugh. "take someone's hand-me-downs. they don't need to suit you, cloth is good for a lot. they're good for dusting and adding cushion to things. you can get pretty creative with it," she nodded. she waved her hand at kali, shaking her head. "oh please, friendship doesn't need to be a balanced transaction. all i'll be reminding you is that i enjoy being your friend," she expressed, bright smile upon her lips. though kali's next words were tempting... perhaps if it came down to it, she would ask. otherwise, she'd prefer not to bother her. especially with a request noah was sure she was tired of.
