Mario is somewhat shocked from receiving such a gift. The plumber never did anything with the expectation of compensation in mind, only that peace would remain within the Kingdom that he lived in. But the gift was certainly appreciated, evidenced by the bright smile he donned.

   Luigi paused his preparation of their breakfast and peered over the kitchen counter at his elder twin. ❝For me? Are-a ya sure, Big Bro? I never get letters.❞ Believing Mario might have misread the wording on the letter, Luigi approached to see for himself.

   And to his surprise, it was addressed to him. ❝Wowe! Let-a me see, Bro! What if it’s a secret love-a letter–❞ Wishful thinking perhaps, but at least he was optimistic.

          “You-a never know, till you-a open it up!”

Bowser’s domain within the badlands of the furthest reaches of the many kingdoms sure made it seem that way. Nothing but carnage, destruction, and turmoil. A brutal land, fitting for the one who ruled over it.

Mario clutched his hammer’s grip tightly, keeping himself steady-- Bowser’s words wouldn’t deter him from saving the princess, not now nor ever!

As the Princess had taken the time to greet him, Mario removed his cap, giving the royalty a slight bow of the head. Though her response had him just as confused as she was now, he donned the iconic hat once more.

         “You-a sent me a letter, no? This-a one, right here.”

     ❛ 👑┊ The sight of Mario getting all riled up made her smirk. Bowsette herself stayed calm, however. Considering Mario would definitely put up more of a fight than Peach, in order for her plan to work, she had to throw him for a loop.

     ❝ Calm your overalls, plumber. I’m not here for your precious princess this time, you can keep her! … In fact… ❞

     She bent down to meet Mario at eye level, her fiery red orbs bore into the other’s bright blue, all while a devilish smile remained on her face.

     ❝ I’m after someone much different. ❞

Mario had always thwarted Bowser’s plans, but that sneaky Koopa was always able to hatch new schemes, some more elaborate than others. Despite his nefarious ways, Mario had to hand it to the Koopa’s tenacity and creativity in their evil deeds.

However, Bowser’s words caused the hero to pause, blinking, a showing of visible confusion coming of his visage. Though he wondered if he’d even get an answer, Mario’s question was blurted before he could consider it.

A jolly smile stretched along the plumber’s lips, his grin visible even despite the bushy mustache nestled beneath his nose.

It had always been a treat to receive a letter from the Princess. The mustachioed plumber knew how busy she must have been on a regular basis, so for her to make time to meet him was certainly something to appreciate! 

Though the letter simply asked for him to come to the castle, Mario had no qualms with what her reasoning might have been-- whether it was to assist her or simply keep her company, the elder brother was happy to oblige.

The plumber’s mustache twitched as he watched the King of Koopas show himself. A bold move, given that Bowser usually saved the confrontations as a last resort. If he was here to disturb the peace, Mario would have none of it!

     ❛ 👑┊ Her new appearance was proving to be quite useful. No one had anticipated her arrival, and while a few bystanders managed to notice that something wasn’t right, everyone just saw her as the princess. 

     Including Mario.

     She knew very well that he wouldn’t be fooled for long, but Bowsette figured it was time she changed up her methods. New evil look, new evil schemes! Besides, kidnapping the princess was getting boring.

     ❝ Think again, hero. ❞

Mario had quarreled with Bowser for a long time-- though this woman’s voice and appearance were different, her tone and villainous aura made it clear who he was really dealing with.

The spiny Koopa shell on her back helped narrow it down too.

He should’ve guessed Bowser was up to some nasty scheme. Whether he (she?) planned to elaborate on it, he figured the Koopa would spill the beans at some point. Probably had something to do with nabbing the Princess again-- not that he’d even let those schemes get to that point!
