just wanted to share some of my favorite and more 'rare' WW1 photos!

 U.S. had a good amount of soldiers and they were not tired, wounded, or have been fighting like the rest of the soldiers for four years. They also had a good amount of food and shelter for the soldiers. They also had better weapons to use and gave them to French soldiers.    

L-R: Future 12 victory ace Vizefeldwebel Sebastian Festner, future 30 victory ace and Pour le Mérite (Blue Max) holder Leutnant Karl Emil Schäfer, future 80 victory ace and Pour le Mérite holder Rittmeister (Cavalry Captain) Manfred Freiherr (Baron) von Richthofen, future 40 victory ace and Pour le Mérite holder Leutnant Lothar Freiherr (Baron) von Richthofen and future 33 victory ace and Pour le Mérite holder Leutnant Kurt Wolff, April 1917, after MvR became Staffelführer of Jasta 11. These men were credited with shooting down 195 aircraft. Festner would be KIA shortly after this photo was taken on 25 April 1917. Schäfer was KIA on 5 June 1917, MvR was KIA on 21 April 1918, Wolff was KIA 15 September 1917. LvR was the only pilot here to survive the war, dying in a plane crash on 4 July 1922
