Verona 2.0

“A DJ. That’s impressive.” Eric said, agreeing with her that it would be tough for her to do her job. “I’d imagined that you’d have a hard time with pushing buttons, but maybe while you’re healing, they could hire someone to do that job for you? A designated button pusher.” He let out a laugh after that, knowing how ridiculous that just sounded.

“Not that impressive, but I love what I do.” Justine giggled and nodded, “It’s fine, I will just have to get my engineer to do most of that work, but as long as I can still talk, I think I will be alright.” She laughed, at his comment, “I don’t think I have to pay anyone to do that, but the radio station for sure.”

“Ahh… I understand now why she would think that. But honestly, if I had a younger sister, I would want to protect her. You don’t know what kind of creeps are lurking out there. Not that I’m saying there are many creepers in Verona. Just in general, I mean.” Axel laughed, shaking his head. “So it’s a family trait to be stubborn. Naturally she would be stubborn here too. But wow, she’s a Mechanic. That’s impressive.” 

“And as much as she tries to fight me on it, I think she knows that It’s all because I love her, and care about her very much.” He nodded, “Yes, it is a lot of crazy people out in the world, and I’ll be damned if I let something happen to her, and I am all the way across the world.” He was so serious about that, but he needed to relax a little. He nodded, “Yeah I would say so, I think we get it from my dad. And that is something else she got from my dad, they love their cars.”

“It’s very nice to meet you, Justine.” Eric smiled at the petite blonde. “–You mentioned work being difficult. What is it that you do?” He’d imagined that any work she did would be hard to do with a cast, but for some reason, he just felt the need to talk to her a little more. 

Justine was in a bit of pain, but it didn’t stop her from noticing how hot her doctor was. That smile was melt worthy, and she needed to not focus on that, but on her arm. “I am a radio dj, and it is a lot of buttons to push.” She smiled, and trying to think about 

Eric then quickly paged to get the blonde’s X-Ray done as soon as possible. “You’ll be fine. I know that a cast is not what someone wants, but I’m betting you’ll get out of it before long.” He said gently, trying to calm her nerves. “By the way I’m Doctor Frazier. You are?”

Justine didn’t want to think about being in a cast, but it seemed more and more inevitable at this point. “It is definitely going to make working a bit more difficult, but I will manage.” She smiled at him, “I’m Justine, pleasure to meet you.”

“But that’s what older brother’s are for, right?” Axel asked, laughing. “You sister sounds like she’s stubborn. What does she do here? She’s not in University, is she? If she is then, I understand why she might not want you around.” 

Cooper nodded, “Yes! That’s what I was trying to tell her, but of course she doesn’t believe me.” He knew he was beyond ridiculous right now, because he could smother Charlie from time to time, but he wasn’t going to admit that. “She is very stubborn, but she gets it naturally. My family is stubborn. No, not a student, she is a mechanic.”

Eric nodded away as he continued to examine the petite blonde’s arm. The way she described the incident made him wince, he could already picture it happening. “That sounds like it’s painful.” When she yelped, he stopped and placed her arm down gently. “It sounds like a fracture. We should do an X-Ray just to be sure.” 

Justine didn’t like hearing the doctor wince, she knew it sounded bad, because it was bad, “It was very painful, hence me being here now.” Her arm was starting to hurt more and more, and when he suggested the x-ray, and said it could be a fracture, “That’s not good....” She sighed again.

“You’re a good big brother.” Axel returned genuinely. “I don’t know anything about being a brother since I’m an only child, but if I had a brother, I would want them to care about me, like you do your sister.” 

Cooper couldn’t help but laugh at that comment, “I don’t know about that, my sister might say I’m overprotective. But I can’t turn off my worrying about her, so I needed to be here, and your offer was the perfect timing.” He wanted Charlie to like him being there, but if not, then oh well, he was there now.

Eric was smiling as he went to take his seat next to the examination bed. “Can you tell me what you did?” He asked as he blew on his hands to warm them up before touching the blonde. “Tell me when it hurts.” He instructed as he went about his examination.

Justine sighed when she had to explain what happened, “Me, being silly, and rushing. I was trying to get to work, and I was running out of my house, and slipped on my rug, fell and hit my wrist on the edge of the coffee table.” She hissed when he hit the spot that hurt, “Ow...right there.”

“I’m happy to hear it. Didn’t you say you had a sibling living in Verona. How are they doing? I bet they’re happy to have their brother around.” Axel didn’t have a sibling of his own, but if he did, he would want to keep in close contact with them.

Cooper nodded, “I do, and I wanted to be close to her, and the place you got for me is close to her apartment, so I am very happy about that. I would like to think that she is happy that I’m here.” 

When Eric was paged back to the ER to oversee a patient, he finished up what he was doing and headed over there. Stepping into the room, the first thing he did was sanitized his hand as he greeted her. “You will have to let me examine your bones first.” He laughed.

Justine giggled, knowing she was jumping the gun just a little, “I guess I figured they did all that when they were checking me out at first, but I’ll be quiet and let you do your job.” She blushed, feeling a bit embarrassed. 

“That’s good to hear.” Axel nodded his head, smiling at the other man. “I hope we’ve given you enough time to settle in and that your new place is to your liking?” He asked, feeling a little curious. It was a nice home, but if the other man needed a better accommodations, then he would have to make sure that happens.

Cooper nodded , and took a seat across from Axel, “You have, and I love the place, thank you so much for your hospitality.” He was easy to please, all he wanted to was to be close to Charlie, and he was, so he was happy.
