Bombay India on foot and by Taxi. Beep Beep City I call it as I have never heard so many car horns tooting for no apparent reason unless it means I am coming... everyone out of the way! My vid cam was quite a novilty in 1985 and I would quickly atttact a croud if I stayed in one spot for a few minutes filming with it, so I had to keep moving or get boxed in. People were curious or wanted to be in the video :-) Hotel Nagina if I remember correctly.

Mumbai is a truly extraordinary city. Wonderful people, incredible food, amazing stories. Mumbai is a city that we'll be going back to as soon as we can.

Modern buildings and infrastructure. Marathi women working in Bombay as construction workers. The traveller walks across a road. He walks into the 'Industry House' for business. A man bumps into him. Six men carrying an expensive piano on their head, very picturesque. Amazement on the face of the narrator when he is with his Indian business companion. He sees more of the city. A vibrant road of Bombay. A close up of a woman with a sack on her head. A close up of Hindustani individuals. The traveller tries Indian pan (or paan), beatlenut chewing. Paan seller makes paan with various spice. First his companion and then the traveller tries paan with great interest. Hindustanis' relax on Sundays. The traveller walks around a park like other Indians. Women dressed in sarees. Girls playing skipping rope. He sits next to a woman in a sari. The woman is eating with her hand. With instruction he eats like her. He visits a travel agent in Bombay to arrange a flight to another part of India - Banaras or Benares (Varanasi).

Amateur home movie but very well shot. Great trams and street scenes and Bombay docks, departure of a ship. Indian family on board a ship leaving Bombay. Beach scenes with indian holiday makers on the beach. Lovely shots of a Rich Indian family life.

The life of a boy 45 years ago in Bombay/Mumbai. I wonder whether children's life has changed much.
