okay, i’ll be real honest, i’ve never understood the concept of... stalking a blog? i guess it’s just like, checking up on a blog you don’t follow? idk. i don’t really tend to pay a lot of attention to blogs outside my very small sphere, i don’t think, which is probably what lends to me being not very active/big, but like... i’d rather build a small, comfortable circle that i wanna interact with than start worrying about the numbers, yknow?

~ despite the starsmores being a minor family of clan akkaba during the time of jono’s great-grandfather, the massacre of the clan by vampires left them as one of the only remaining families, & so the starsmores ended up with considerable wealth & property redistributed from the fallen families of akkaba. jono grew up more than comfortable, which was how he met his teenage girlfriend, gayle - both came from wealthy families, though jono chose to strike out on his own after graduating secondary school at sixteen, while gayle was still reliant on the edgertons.

~ jono’s father may not have liked jack starsmore’s talk of clan akkaba, nor actively participated in the cult, but he still allowed jack to tattoo jono with the mark of the clan before he was ten- a large tattoo across his chest, like the prominent families of clan akkaba had once done. this traumatized jono severely, & it took him until his late teens to be comfortable getting any body modifications, & his mid-twenties to go back under a tattoo machine.

~ it took over a decade for pearce to reach the point where their powers no longer reject their daily medication without a concentrated effort from them. starting after they realized their abilities & started studying themself to figure out just what the hell was going on, testing their reaction to drugs became a long process of trial & error, including seeking medication for their anxiety & hoping they could finally find a way to make it work. where they used to have to focus on making sure their blood didn’t automatically “clean” the medication out & instead allowed it to be processed normally, years of daily practice & focus have made it an unconscious habit, only interrupted when they change dosage or prescription.

y’know i was literally just thinking about this, after the post about dom’s dreams and fears - especially since this marriage resulted in a child, which - look i have my objections to that, first and foremost that she voluntarily worked for the damn red skull but i guess they needed an excuse/personal vendetta to drag dominic into that whole plot which. still is weak and flimsy as hell, seeing as that’s literally the first time we hear anything about this child/dom’s marriage, but anyways -

~ i don’t think dominic’s marriage was, necessarily, something he chose. he felt he was still young, and content with where he was - he was also a little bit of a romantic, and sort of just thought that he’d stumble into love one day and it’d be something perfect. his family felt, however, that he was in his mid-twenties and being lazy about the whole thing, and that a friend of a friend of the family had a lovely daughter who also needed to get married, and here, helen’s pretty, and hardworking, and everything a wife should be - you should love her.

~ dom tried. he tried really, really damn hard, and i think he may have loved helen - and i think that’s what led him to hold his tongue about his powers before they got married. he couldn’t tell her and have that spoil things - he knew there was stigma against mutants, he knew his powers weren’t the safest, and if her family found out she was marrying a mutant, or the wider community, and she ended up shunned and miserable instead of happily married - he couldn’t do that to her. he wanted this to work, for both their sake, and so he didn’t tell her.

~ she had to find out eventually. on days when dom got migraines, when it was particularly bad and felt like an icepick through his skull, he refused to touch her, even gently, even a little, and she wanted to know why. she wanted to understand why the slightest twinge in his head made him pull his hands away from her, or why he never seemed to get too emotional, in any direction, good or bad - sure, he didn’t get angry, but was he happy? and so he took her out to the garden and showed her - the way the earth rolled under his command, tearing up the hard work he’d done to the backyard, cracks appearing in the carefully manicured grass. his emotions, his headaches - they made his powers harder to control. and he never, ever wanted to hurt anyone with them, especially her.

~ things went sour quickly. their daughter was already on the way but - helen wanted nothing to do with dominic. she didn’t care about the efforts he’d put into this to make her happy and keep her safe and be - everything she could have asked for. she was scared, sure, part of dom had expected that, but she also seemed disgusted that she’d ever let dominic put his hands on her at all - that her husband, the father of her child, was a mutant.

dominic’s worst fear is loneliness.

he’s seen so many people that he took up with die, he’s lost so much, he’s put himself in so many bad situations just to feel some connection - he doesn’t want to be alone. he fears losing people, especially to death, which was why he chose to save crimson commando’s life, after losing destiny, losing stonewall, losing super sabre - why he was willing to leave the others behind, because they were alive and could, hopefully, one day, be retrieved - but commando couldn’t, if dom let him die. so he couldn’t let that happen.

krakoa, however, presents a conundrum - mutants don’t have to die on krakoa. the end is not the end. so the only way for dom to be alone on krakoa is if he drives people away. he fears doing that most of all.

his greatest desire is family.

he wants stability and connection, a group of people that are his and he is theirs - and, yes, they might fight, they might have their differences, their moments where they need a break or some time apart, but they come back together and can count on each other. he wants that, desperately, badly, even on days when he’s feeling paranoid and itchy and ready to lash out at the first person who looks at him wrong - he wants to have someone who will be there even when he does lash out. people who understand him, and bad days, and fighting with yourself as much as you do anyone else.
