now after so many years i can finally see from the first couple chapters alone that basil is a homosexual of the tenth degree, henry may seem to have homosexual tendencies but is really just a hedonist, and dorian gray does not have the personhood required to develop a sexual orientation.

he’s going to go into college a physics major, woo the hell out of his professors, rotate around a few labs, fall in love with biophysics, add a double major in biochemistry, bounce around both fields through grad school, and eventually dedicate his life to researching the biophysics of some random protein that’s only found in grasshoppers.

he’s going to be a PI in his 40s in the basement of some private university in the midwest looking at his lab absolutely stuffed wall to wall floor to ceiling with terrariums, each full of no less than 150 grasshoppers, and he’ll think to himself “what the fuck… i was supposed to be a rocket scientist…”

but he’ll stick to his research, maybe ease his way back into the physics and engineering side of things, probably solve protein folding or something (what, like it’s hard?), and eventually get invited by nasa to head a research project on space medicine. he’ll feel good about finally ending up at a nasa, even if it’s not in the way he thought he’d end up when he was young.
